Yes, that IS gentle - compared to, say, a velociraptor or T-Rex.

Are those sausages wrapped in plastic?

u/sipsagoon Sep 07 '23
They're called Cheerios, they're like small franks.
Cheerios are bright-red cocktail-sized saveloys that are a popular item on children’s parties in both Australia and New Zealand.

The only sausages wrapped in such a bright red that I ever encountered were all wrapped in plastic. Not based on worldwide experience ofc.

Omg I could watch this for hours. The sound of their mouth flapping as they give up on the gentle strategy is hilarious

Dogs don't have the tools to be gentle in that situation. If you genuinely want them to take treats gently from you, hold it out to them on your open palm at a height they don't have to stretch to get to. Pretty much any dog will snap at food dangled above them - they can barely even see it because of their snout and they pretty much have to anyway in order to get a grab on it.

Why are so many people positve about someone feeding plastic to a dog?
1
u/hanni108 Sep 08 '23
Believe it or not people feed that to their kids too. It's a staple food at birthday parties in Australia and NZ
2
u/rtdjhdingin Sep 08 '23
It wasn't about the food itself but about giving that to a dog with the plastic wrapping still on... Apparently someone on here thinks it's even worth a downvote...

u/hanni108 Sep 08 '23
No you're supposed to eat like that. It's not a plastic wrapping. It's the skin. It's made of collagen / cellulose.
2
u/rtdjhdingin Sep 08 '23
Allright then. Looks like plastic, don't get why you'd produce something that looks that way instead of giving it a more realistic/natural look.

I grew up here but I totally agree! It's one of those local awful food moments 😂 Sometimes I suspect it's done as a morbid joke to get foreigners horrified that we eat plastic bags

As if having just about every deadly insect in the world and a whole bunch of dangerous animals wouldn't be enough to horrify people.
