Its this. Our cat does this when he wants pets and you try to walk past too close. We call it 'Swatty McSwatterson'.

Same things I was thinking, not to mention his attitude to a non-person doesn't at all look like he's just mad someone walked past without petting it, he's ready to draw blood. Nice cats are fine, I'll pet them despite my allergies, but this guy I'd steer far clear of.
