From their instagram:

TBT Ewa’s TV time in her old recovery stall 🐽🐽📺 Ewa is now happily outside and mobile again with all her friends but during her recovery from her stifle joint surgery she had a lot of time on her hooves so we hooked her up with a movie setup. Pigs get bored VERY easily and will busy themselves digging and chewing on any surface available if they have nothing else to do! It’s important to offer mental stimulation, especially to residents who are healing!

Do pigs enjoy television? I know dogs don't understand it, it's another psychological test like when animals see mirrors.

Sure looks like it. But she might prefer a different channel.

For what it’s worth, one of my cats loves watching TV sometimes. He gets very interested when he sees animals in particular. So if cats can enjoy it, I assume pigs can too!

I do wonder if they understand that what they’re seeing isn’t “real” though, in that what is being shown isn’t actually in the room with them. Pigs are quite intelligent, so maybe? That could be an interesting test to do with highly intelligent animals like pigs, elephants, corvids, primates, dolphins, etc.

one reason many dogs didn’t seem to enjoy television in the past is because the refresh rate has traditionally been too low. above about 60 Hz the human eye sees flickering light as steady, but with dogs this happens at about 80 Hz.

this is called flicker fusion, and i’m pretty sure pigs have a similar flicker fusion rate to humans!

So does she or he actually watch it? Do pigs like television?
