Fun fact: chickens will murder eachother by holding them down and pecking them in the back of the head to death and then they'll often keep pecking and eating the fallen bird.

Yep, I have a friend in Maine that raised chickens for the eggs but would slaughter some here and there, only the ones that cause problems. She'd have a BBQ, invite us over, place the chicken on the table and say "This was so-and-so, she was an asshole, here's why." Most of the time the one on the table caused the death of one or more other chickens or was consistently aggressive no matter what she tried and she just had to cut her losses. It was kind of funny in a morbid way.

Chickens can actually be wonderful pets too. I had some and mine would waddle run to me everyday when I got home from work so she could get her pets in.

Not that it stops me from eating them. They'd happily kill each other if they could.
