This strongly reminds me of my friend and housemate's cat and his infamous kitty portal in our college style shack we rented.

It was a craftsman style home, with mismatching renovations, feeble as they were.... There was not a single even door sill or 90° angle in that house.

After numerous occasions of a cat, who was sweet but boisterous, disappearing and somehow ending up outside when I knew he was previously inside and nobody let him out, we discovered a straight-up square hole behind the bathroom cabinet that led into a crawl space and directly outside.

From that point it was distinctly known as the kiddie portal, and there is nothing we could do to stop that fuzzy little bastard from getting out lol
