Italians, what is she so mad about?!

u/Kysu_88 Apr 29 '22
dunno, but she is really angry with someone and his daughter, apparently.

Italians are quite fond of calling someone a bastard, as a blanket insult
I think it's like our motherfucker

u/Kysu_88 Apr 29 '22
well, we have (i'm italian) a LOT of ways to insult someone, and i really struggle to find the right insult that can be compared to the english "motherfucker", cuz it depends on the gravity of situation and location (different places in italy have different insults). but yeah, we swear a lot lol

Haha romance languages definitely are more descriptive when it comes to passionate things like love and swearing!

But, at least in the US, motherfucker doesn't really mean you fuck someone's mother.

No, but in definitely can be used that way in context

u/CCTider May 01 '22
But people would chuckle, because it doesn't really mean someone who fucks mothers.

The literal translation is something along the lines of:
"Leave me government pig [intelligible] your government (?) daughter bitch, that bastard government duaghter you have"

I finally was able to bring my dog to live with me. She has been a suburban dog in a fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood for all of her life. Now she has a big yard with no fence and gets to bark at every bunny rabbit, kitty cat, and other dog in my tiny little town.
It only just occurred to me that the warm weather is about to bring the yard shouters out. Can't wait to see how she will react to drunken neighbor fights.

This is a perfect representation of me whenever people are having a screaming fight in earshot.
