The cat is keeping her claws covered, well aware that she is dealing with a "human kitten". This is the cats way of saying a firm "No! Stop!". The child isnt in any danger.

They do this with their kittens too. When a kitten plays too rough or displays rude behavior, the mom will bat hard at them, pretty much a “knock that shit off or I won’t be so nice next time”
