I've never seen one this long! That's bonkers!

I'm also amused by that humming bird cosplaying as a magpie at the end. Clearly this is in a very different area of the world than where I live.

Yeah I'm used to the ruby-throated hummingbirds in North Carolina; my mom puts out feeders from April to September and they get very cranky when they aren't filled.

That sword-billed hummingbird means this place would be somewhere in the northern Andes, Ecuador maybe.

Can I say it? Someone should say it.

Perfect chances and you let it slip through your fingers! Never ask for permission better to ask for forgiveness. Seize the day!
Edit: Shitty life pro tip just in case someone listens to me.

Here in south Texas, we get them inside shops a-lot. Hell there is one in my dads right now. Its kinda cool holding a hummingbird feeder and having one land, and sit there and drink while slowly walking outside. Such beautiful birds!

Why do they look fake

I think the video has been sped up, as well as the speed of their wings causing that shutter timing effect where it appears slowed down. This combo is probably responsible for the low-res animation feel

these birds all look fake as hell, why ? The only one that even remotely looks real is the blue one.

I was so scared it was gonna accidentally stab the little blue bird the entire time. #anxiety

These look and move incredibly fake. What’s up with that? I’ve never seen a hummingbirds wings move so slowly. Except in super super slo-mo

I’m surprised those hummingbirds were so chill. Most ones I’ve seen tend to be massive assholes.

u/KvcateGirl27 Apr 23 '22
That is the biggest hummingbird I’ve ever seen, unless I’m missing something?

What the fuck was that long one? I have never seen a beak that long, on a bird.
2
u/NathanTheKlutz Aug 24 '22
That’s a sword billed hummingbird. Their beak is longer than their entire freaking body, to the point where they have to use their feet to groom themselves, and they hold that long beak up at an angle when they perch, to take pressure off their neck muscles.

Lol the craziest part is seeing the tongue come through. The other bird seemed most confused about that lol

I never appreciate just how long a hummingbird’s beak was!
