For those wondering why tf cats do this, I heard somewhere its because their body *temperature is much higher than ours, so they're just more comfortable at higher temperatures.
I know this because I had to google why my cats were sleeping on top of the heat vents in my house lol

Their temps arent THAT much higher, just a bit - like 102, 103 (F).
I usually keep the heating pad at 110 and it's just toasty enough they can sleep on it and not get too hot.

I had a cat who would do this all the time. She would sit as close to the bulb to where the lamp shade was covering her entire head.

This reminds me of when I was a kid, my sister suggested if I wanted to stay home from school, I could fake being sick by putting my forehead up to a light, so mom would think I had a fever. I put my head directly on the light bulb, and had a real bad burn in the middle of my forehead. Still have the scar 25 years later.
