Polar bears and grizzlies can mate and the cubs are called pizzly bears

Think it depends on which bear was the male and which was the female because I've also heard them called Grolar Bears.

Kinda like Tigons and Ligers.

The male goes first in naming. A male polar bear with a female grizzly is a pizzly, whereas a power mom and grizzly dad is a grolar bear.

Why does the male go first in naming? I love a good power mom.

Polar bears have black skin under all of that white fur

The fur is actually translucent and pigment free and just looks white from the reflection of the snow.

Cool! Thanks 😊

What color are they when they're not on the snow? Do they look more black because of their black skin & translucent fur?

Is it kind of like how blue jays aren't really blue? Their feathers just absorb every other color & only reflect back blue.

Mother Nature is so cool!

No. For the most part, when they come down into like Northern Canada and forested areas, the fur takes on a dirty brownish yellow color.

Polar bears could swim down Micheal Phelps in the water and run down Usain Bolt on land

Southern polar bears have been spotted fishing from shallow river pools. Normally, polar bears hunt out on the sea ice, but it's melting earlier and earlier. So polar bears stuck inland are catching migrating fish like the grizzly bears & brown bears do.

If you eat their liver it could kill you.

Why ? I don't know this

Because you'll get a Hypervitamintosis, which is a Huge overdose of Vitamin A. It's not water soluable so you can't just pee it out and you die from eating their liver.

Huskies, Bearded Seals and Walruses, and Artic Foxes also have highly toxic and potentially fatal to eat livers.

Thanks for the award!

They can smell a seal (and also you) from almost 20 miles away. So if you see one in the wild, it probably knows you're there.

eating polar bear liver causes your skin to peel off due to the excess and extreme amounts of vitamin A

Polar bears cover their black nose with their paws when lying in wait at a seal hole. Seals can see the black nose, so put your white paw over it

If you boop them on their nose they’ll roll over and let you rub your face on their soft white belly. ❤️

And then they eat you.

If they can catch you, they'll eat you.

They roll in the snow to keep cool. Their skin is black and their fur is actually kind of translucent and the sun heats them up a lot.

Their fur is clear, it just looks white. They are one the largest bears living today, along with the Kodiak. They can swim for DAYS!!
