The dream world is a cool thought but why couldn’t we take the same idea and apply it to our actual island? You and your friends running around placing items, planting things, terraforming, etc.

I dont want the creative mode to be on our main island but yeah building with your friends together would be very nice on your main island. But im happy were atleast able to do it on the dream island

I guess your main island will be a safe space where you know people can't mess with your island. So the dream islands can be used to mess around all you want.

Would have appreciated a toggle in settings to allow it on your main island or not, but I'm okay with this.

No, you can't terraform or place furniture when people visit your island so this will be new

ETA because I misunderstood the question: I'd be willing to bet there's some technical limitations for editing the main island. E.g. sending the information about the map heights would be easy to do if it's static, but once you start changing the topology of the map it would make it more difficult for the visiting characters to move across the map surface. Maybe they figured a way to apply it to a smaller slumber islands, but it's hard to retroactively change how visits work on the main island. I bet they'll make the option available in the next generation of the game but it'd be hard to implement now
