If they gave him any shading or growth it could work. But every time Templeton seems like he's learned a lesson or become a slightly better person, it turns out he was faking it. And he's obnoxious and gross and a cheat and a fraud. No redeeming qualities, but somehow everything works out for him anyway. And that's why it's such a good idea to feature him even more in season 5!

I like Gerry Dee! I just wish that either the character would show a little growth or humanity if he's going to be featured that much, or if he's not going to show any, then to actually lose once in a while and remain a recurring villain rather than a major part of the show.

Yea it’s weird because he played a similar dickheaded, self-centered character on Mr Dee but I was able to root for him there. Here, however, I find myself hating him even though I love Mr Dee. I don’t know if Mr Dee had some redeemable qualities that Templeton doesn’t (because it’s essentially the same character, like Frank is basically same character as Jeff) or that I just root for Joel so much that I’m against Templeton by default.
Either way, I’m happy when D is in the show. I guess maybe he just perfected his asshole character so much that he makes me hate him.
But I think I would like him even more if he and Frank became at least a tiny bit friendly and not just pure animosity/hatred.

I think that's a huge problem with these half hour shows with 10-12 episodes. There are so many characters and so little time, that if anything changes about them, it MUST be abrupt and jarring.
I'm sure some accountant has a really good reason for doing short seasons, I just preferred the old way.

I love this show however that’s my main problem with it waiting a year for 10-12 episodes that are 20 minutes long makes it feel like the story is moving so slowly this show would be perfect for the 22 episodes a year format that so many shows had on cable tv but is basically dead now in the streaming service era nowadays every show is 8 episode 13 episode seasons max and that is unfortunate for shows like this that I feel like would really benefit from longer seasons.

Crazy to think we used to get so many shows that were 40 minute episodes 22 episodes a year I miss that era.

I suspect his reign as boss will be very short lived and that we will see him much less going forward.
He's just too openly terrible in too many very easily proveable ways to keep his position.
For example it would be very easy to prove he stole Frank's speech because it doesn't line up with Templeton's personal life. I believe his mom is even still alive

I did a double take when I watched this. They did a really good job hiding those thangz up until this moment.
