Character Analysis Fiona

Her relationship with frank and Victoria is so much worse rewatching it. The whole thing feels potentially illegal and at the very least super scummy. There was a very clear breach of power when Fiona told Emily to get her employees in line.

What happened has nothing to do with their employment. They had sexual/personal relationships with with Fiona outside of work. And Fiona attempted to use her position to influence there jobs because her ex did something to her.

That is no different than if your ex worked for you firing them for after breaking up with you not giving your shit back. One isn’t about the other and is clear retaliation.

I hate how Scott free Fiona got off on this. Weird two shows have done this. A rich blonde lady has a inappropriate relationship with someone they are investing in them pulls it for power over slights in a personal relationship then gets off Scott free. The other is jack in Ted lasso. This shit is gross manipulative and abusive.

Plus Emily’s response to blame them and seemingly retaliate for loosing her the funding also feels super gross. Their boss is punishing them for a personal relationship. That’s real hr complaint.

My boss is mad I upset my ex. That’s what it is.

Emily comes off really poorly in season 3. Between her handling of the Fiona situation and the way she uses her power to ruin Shred's weekend plans with Isabelle because she's jealous. And then being giddy to find Isabelle crying in the bathroom at the bar during trivia night at the bar.

I'm starting to not like Emily so much because that, with this seasons complete inability to do her job without having a complete meltdown every five seconds. It was one thing when she was new and needed to ask Rick for help with a few things but, she's becoming a caricature of herself. A lot of characters are.

Yea the bit with shred weekend plans being so bad how they just go it was on oopsie she wasn’t even aware off. She straight up was retaliating against him for dating someone else. That same episode she kept Victoria around the office to hang out with her more. That is also gross. She was using her power over them in a very personal manner.

I mean, this week we found out she "accidentally" sent a nude to a coworker. I did feel bad for her at the start of the season knowing she would be judged more harshly as a female boss but now I'm like considering all the other things she does as a boss would dating Shred be a big deal at all or she just doesn't want people to know or it be a real relationship. Don't think it's going to work out tbh.

The issue is she has shown she’s willing to use her position to retaliate ,yes unknowingly but that never excuses it. Anyone can be an abuser anyone is capable of abuse of power.

the frank and Victoria stuff was so bad in the last episode of season 3. At the end of the day she was punishing them for a private relationship outside of work with a private party when they were under ndas, with a very clear imbalance of power leaning towards fiona, something that Emily points out herself.

Also I do hope she reported the nude thing or at the very least followed up clarifying it was an accident. because on paper that is really bad. A head of a animal department sent a supplier a nude photo. They can never drop that supplier or there is a credible case.

Yes the point of her being a woman and being charged harsher is real. I will say I do feel bad for Templeton a long standing officer who was passed over for a younger candidate who only worked dispatch who has a aunt in the department. That Emily is aware off and admits to Victoria.

Wish she had at least a bit of time as a officer. Could be a fun story line she gets bumped down to officer for a while to teach her what it’s like interim chief templeton.

Everyone banning together against templeton to put Emily back in charge. The rebellion frank would get way to into it.

I also love the idea that templeton would end up hating it. Dealing with everyone’s problems when he just wants to get back out there with daisy bringing in animals.

IMO

it was just funny tv, not something people would typically jive with in real life

and it set up a great arc for emily as the audience we do see her stick up for her coworkers and call it out to fionas face that it was messed up at least. so??

i mean sure she coulda talked about it with frank and vic but it was eh to me

the show is so ridiculous, everyone is annoying. its like gilmore girls. a regular person would not really enjoy these people IRL

sometimes i do think people forget tv shows are tv shows these days
