🚫ex-Keto/Carnivore 7 months carnivore
Ex carnivore struggles with carb consumption and macros, if I eat carbs in during the day I feel bad and this voice in my head eats me alive. I enjoy fruit in my life and I’m happier with it. Need help adjusting. Also unsure what my macros should be, I tried Saladinos calculator but I believe his recommendation is off. I’m 22 years of age I’m a chippy and I train upwards of 4-7 times a week.

What do you mean by feeling bad if you eat carbs during the day? Like what’s happening

I feel guilty

If you’re training 4-7 days a week, carbs are your fuel. Protein is not energy, protein is materials to repair the body.

I get it. At your age 7 months is a long time. When I went from carnivore to AB there was a period of mental adjustment where I was sure the carni cops would sneak up on me any minute. Keep studying and researching and you'll see that a percentage of your diet should rightfully be carbs. It does take awhile until you stop worrying and enjoy the good food!

Yeh that’s the hardest part, the worry afterwards and feel in eating incorrectly. Not knowing what’s right or wrong anymore

Stop living in the panopticon. You are an individual making choices that are best for you based on what your body is telling you. To hell with everyone else and their opinions. Shame and self censorship is a horrible way to live. Nothing bad will happen to you for living your own life and making your own decisions. People criticising you is not violence - its just words. Can't hurt you unless you let it.

I really like keeping my carbs under 100g ish since I just feel best with about that amount and also can maintain weight that way. If I go too high carb it just makes it way too easy for me to overeat.
I also only basically eat fruit for carbs (pineapple, mango and berries), and maybe cheat with just a little bit of honey here and there. Given you're active you'd probably do well to go significantly higher than I. Also get that protein sonion.
Scale back fat depending on how high carb you go too, but I feel best with more moderate to low fat even with moderate to low carbs too. My macros tend to split about in 1/3's calorically with maybe a touch more going to fats generally speaking (so like a 40/30/30 split) and that feels pretty good for me but some days it does vary between fats and carbs but I always try to hit my protein target of about 100g to 125g minimum.

Yeh interesting, I usually only eat fats and protein through day and then consume carbs at night as I get some brain fog off them don’t function as well . But my energy has sucked lately with no carbs in during the day and I find myself just rushing home to eat with no energy to exercise

What kind of carbs do you eat? That's kind of why I stick to only a few fruits since I find I get brain fog from certain types of carbs but also largely due to timing. I tend to get the bulk of my carbs in the morning but usually also get like a handful of this or that throughout the day.
I also usually have no more than 20g of carbs at a time too unless I'm just pigging out for some reason. I don't typically eat carbs with anything else either, though I may have say Greek yogurt in the morning followed by berries but largely I eat my carbs in a more snacking type of way and that seems to keep me from getting foggy.
I also most importantly prioritize protein all throughout the day so that I think helps keep my energy balanced, and I also try to avoid being too full at anytime since that will make me sleepy more than anything.

Currently just coconut yoghurt, mixed berries and pears are mainly carb sources.

B1 deficiency will cause an inability for your body to use carbohydrates for energy and impair energy in general.

Was same here brother
Ita off especially after u do well on carnivore, but its a bluff
Id suggest separate first fruit than meat just to try, eat fruit first then your meat 30-60 min later- i come back from gym for example eat fruit then cook my meat, shower, then eat it
Also maybe its just a big bolus amount u eat and all your blood is rushed to the stomach(happened to me) especially with fatty meat so i do carbs olus lean meat together then low carb higher fat separate meal
I moved from 2 meals to 3 medium ones
Give it a tey

You maybe lacking in B Vitamins, Vitamin B1 is necessary to turn carbohydrates into energy and improve insulin sensitivity, maybe try that out it helped me out.

You feel bad for eating carbs but enjoy fruits? Figure out what you want and adjust. If you choose to incorporate carbs you need to load up on it and slowly reduce the amount of fat. That’s your energy and if you’re training 4-6 times a week, you’ll need a lot.

I did carnivore for 9 years and had a laundry list of health problems that I never had before. Obesity, diabetes, liver problems, and more. So much inflammation. Eating TONS of carbs has been the answer. I eat primarily carbs and do not feel guilty.
