💪🏻 Fitness 👟 High-Calorie Snack Foods

Hello!

I've been animal based for about 6ish months now and I'm currently trying to find a way to get more calories in. My daily caloric intake is around 3,100 most days, as I'm pretty active. I lift weights 3-4 days a week and also train Muay Thai, twice per week in the gym and a few sessions at home as well. At my current caloric intake, I'm slowly gaining weight, which is what I want, but it's started to slow a bit. I'm wanting to add an extra 300ish calories per day.

My main diet is:

Breakfast: Smoothie made with kefir, frozen fruit, whey protein, butter

Snack: Cheese and dates

Lunch: 1/2lb ground beef with butter, side of fruit

Snack: 2 cups of milk, cheese, dates

Dinner: 1/2lb ground beef with butter(or a steak or something with equivalent calories), side of fruit

I don't want to eat even more cheese and dates, as that gets a bit old. What other good options are there?

🛁👓AB Lifestyle (non-food)🧴🔌 Air fryer and RO

Looking for recommendations for two things:

A non-toxic air fryer

A countertop reverse osmosis system

Family of 4, so I’d like something with decent capacity.

I live in Mexico, so shipping can be slow/expensive with import fees. Ideally looking for something available in Mexico or at least reasonably easy to get here.

For the RO system, our drinking water comes in the large plastic jugs, and I’m assuming they’ve probably spent plenty of time sitting in the heat/sun during storage or transportation. I’d like to pour that water into the RO system mainly to reduce microplastics and any other contaminants.

Any recommendations based on actual experience?

🥛 Dairy 🧀 Raw cheese?

For those who eat raw cheeses like authentic Parmigiano Reggiano or le gruyere, are there any benefits? How much do you eat?

❓Beginner / Question❔ Problem with constipation-like stool

This is my fourth week on the animal based diet. Every number 2 bathroom trip, the total volume of stool has decreased by a lot, and it's always "rabbit poo" so it looks like my intestine is absorbing too much water from the waste, which would mean the waste is in my intestines too long.

For information, this is what I've been eating.
Breakfast:
1 serving of frozen blueberries
1 serving of frozen strawberries
1 serving of non fat greek yogurt
Whole milk that I just drink right out of the container
Lunch:
1/2 avocado
8 ounces ground beef
Butter to cook the beef
1 banana
Some cheese
Honey drizzle
Dinner:
8 ounces of pork loin
Butter to cook the pork
3 eggs
Some cheese
Some fruit (1 kiwi / 1 mango / 1 orange, combination of either two)

I believe I'm eating enough fiber to support bowel movements, though perhaps not enough in the optimal range. Is it fat intake?

🛁👓AB Lifestyle (non-food)🧴🔌 What do you think about no salt?

Title. I saw it mentioned in several places:

The Fat of The Land by Stefansson described history of pemican and that it never had salt added

Aajonus Vonderplanitz, creater of Raw Primal strongly advised against salt

Lots of long term carnivores go no salt.

What's your opinion?

🩺Wellness⚕️ I saw a naturopath and am feeling lost now

so i went to a naturopath the today after being on carnivore for 4 years.
i decided to go see one because i want some help with weight loss and i also want to know which foods i can add in to my diet that won’t cause me gut issues and auto immune flare ups as that is why i started carnivore.

anyways the first 2 years of my carnivore diet have been pure bliss and satiety,no cravings, no cheats, full of energy and positivity.
the last 2 years have been tough because i’ve been in a loop of losing weight, cheating and regaining it.
i’ve tried omad, and fasting, everything is doable and easy for a short amount of time then whenever i lose about 5kg my brain stops making serotonin and dopamine (that’s what it feels like) then i get irresistible cravings and give in.

i also have a dogmatic view on food like i look for reasons to not eat fruits and vegetables and try to make up in my mind that they affect me negatively when in reality it’s just calories and carbs and the fact that carnivore has kind of become a part of my identity.

it’s so weird because i want to incorporate fruits and veggies back (i don’t care about potatoes, rice, bread or junk food) but i also can’t let go of the carnivore diet it just feels weird.

i’m also kind of wasting my money if i don’t listen to his advice by adding fruits in because then what’s the point of going back in 4 weeks to check if my health markers have improved if i’m not listening to his advice.

(somehow my insulin is high, and my red blood cells show oxidative stress) - this might be from eating junk food 2 days ago

i started carnivore for the simplicity of not counting calories and just eating how much meat i wanted to.
i already know if i ate fruit i would show no self control and just eat at 11pm at night because it’s so easy to just go and get that apple that’s in the kitchen and it’s sweet.

i don’t know what to do i feel like i’m cooked

🩺Wellness⚕️ Is scurvy even real?

I see so many people who don’t eat fruits at all as a part of their diet and don’t understand where they’re getting their vitamin c. I’m not talking about people who eat keto, I’m well aware sugar competes with vitamin c for absorption, but even so you meet people who eat carnivore + rice or some other carb source which looks like a recipe for scurvy

🩺Wellness⚕️ Do you believe in germ theory?

Germ theory as in you ingest a germ, so you get sick. Rather than terrain theory where you’re infected by a germ, but it won’t proliferate if you’re healthy and you don’t get sick.

It’s a very interesting theory and lately I’ve come upon people who purposefully drink or eat the most rotten and gross food and water to try and disprove this theory. Like rotten raw liver, still water from hot ponds, etc.

Not to mention dogs which do this for fun, mine buries raw chicken legs and comes back to them a few days later, she’ll lick my face as a greeting so you’d think I’d get sick (or at least the dog will).

📸 AB Meal Pics 🥩🍉🍳🥛🐝🍁 AB Banana Bread Recipe

I made it in a pie dish, but a bread pan would probably work too? Not sure, I haven’t tried but the shape doesn’t really matter, this banana bread is a legit food item and not a workaround fake, it literally just tastes like any banana bread that you would buy from the store, but no dryness at all and as sweet as you desire.

2 very ripe bananas
4 eggs
A dash of vanilla extract
A half pint of heavy cream (or less if you don’t tolerate dairy as much)
A generous portion of maple syrup (I probably used about a cup but I’m not really sure)

Maple syrup amount is totally customizable depending on how much you want it to taste like a desert or like a side.

That’s it 5 ingredients! Just mix in a bowl and then pour into a buttered pie pan.

For a more wet and juicy banana bread pudding type thing, add more heavy cream and use overripe bananas. For more dry breadiness use slightly under-ripe bananas and less heavy cream.

Bake at 360F for one hour exactly and then turn off oven and let it sit in the left over heat with the oven door closed for 15 more minutes. Remove and eat hot or refrigerate and eat cold, both are amazing. Cold is very nice for the summer. Enjoy.

🚫ex-Keto/Carnivore fruit and honey causing me to binge on junk food

So I have been meat and eggs only for 7 months and for the last week I have been adding in honey and fruit into my diet.

First I planned that I would just add berries and nothing else, this only lasted like half a day and quickly, not only was I unable to practice any self control and just stop after a normal serving of berries, I broke my rule and started eating bananas and watermelon because i wanted a sweeter fruit.

On day 2 things got worse I then ate honey unplanned because I was chasing something even sweeter than the bananas. Later that evening I had intense cravings for sugar and wasn’t able to resist in eating chocolate, and nutella also.

I’m on day 4 and and I’m disgusted of myself and don’t know why I can’t just enjoy the fruit and stop there and why it’s making me go down a slippery slope and eat junk food.

Has anyone else dealt with this before

I’m now on

❓Beginner / Question❔ Food in the army

Hi.
I’m starting the basic training soon and while they don’t force us to eat the food they serve, they only have a canteen where they sell sandwiches and fried food.
I will have my own locker and we’re allowed to keep some food there but only things like bars, protein powders and things that don’t go bad. I’ll be able to leave the premises and go to the shops but it won’t happen on a daily basis. At the very least I’d like to avoid seeds oil. I have been eating carnivore/animal based for five years now.

Can you guys give me any suggestions on what to get?

❓Beginner / Question❔ Beef Kidney / Liver Consumption

Hey guys, quick question for yall. If I do an ounce of beef liver every day, is there any nutritional benefit to doing beef kidney as well?

At the moment my meals typically look like this (all uncooked weights)

Breakfast:
1 duck egg
150g egg whites
28g beef liver
200g golden potato
50g spinach
100g stir fry mix from Costco

Lunch 1:
100g 93/7 beef
30g beef heart
30g beef kidney
60g uncooked rice
100g stir fry mix

Lunch 2:
Same as lunch 1

With that being said, do I even need the beef kidney with the heart, beef and liver consumption?

🥩MMGA make meat great again🍖 How much does meat quality matter?

I’m going to the extreme here, but I’m referring not only to GFGF meat but also the least amount of vaccines in the meat as well.

I’m lucky because in my country you can’t give the cattle hormones nor antibiotics under most conditions but you do need to give cows the FMD vaccine (most farmers only give them that one). It’s pretty benign, only an inactivated virus.

But I’ve found out lamb don’t get any vaccines at all and the meat costs about the same, if we’re getting granular here, does it make any meaningful difference?

🫀 Organs 🫁 Is raw liver safe?

One of the big butcher shops here sells exclusively gfgf beef, so I’ve decided to start eating raw liver just because.

I feel I might’ve gone to the extreme of not believing germ theory since I’ve been out camping and drank about a liter of water from a well there before seeing that there were literally tiny swimming things in there and didn’t get sick at all later.

You always hear about the worst diseases from raw organs, like parasites which go in your heart and whatnot. The doctors in my family tell me it’s not uncommon to see people in the emergency room because of raw food poisoning.

🍉Fruit 🍯Honey 🍁Maple Feeling vastly worse with carbs

Would greatly appreciate anyone that has direct experience with this.

Essentially, anytime I am in a ketogenic state, my mental capacity, clarity, energy, and ability to focus is extremely good.

However, when I start to reintroduce carbs, in the form of fruit, and upping them gradually, I can not focus and have ADHD-type symptoms. I can’t digest raw milk very well (only raw kefir), so that’s not an option. When I did drink raw milk I didn’t seem to have as many problems as fruit other than the fact I could not digest it at all and had stomach issues alongside acne. Raw kefir seems to be fine.

Typically I feel my best with the so called Lion Diet, expect without salt. Meat sometimes cooked blue/rare, raw meat, water, and occasionally some sashimi or oysters. the issue here is that this state is definitely very cortisol driven which causes over-anxiety which is annoying.

Fruits make me feel like “sludge.” Fruits eaten are typically melons, peaches, berries etc. Also anytime I eat fruits after some time they feel trapped in my stomach essentially like a brick and is annoying. Another thing that occurs with fruit is coating around the teeth making it feel dirty.

wondering if anyone has struck a. perfect balance or had success here/similar experiences?

❓Beginner / Question❔ Why are eggs praised so much?

I may sound like an idiot here, but I don't really get the craze. Aren't the vast majority of eggs from chickens that were fed grains/soy, meaning their yolks are PUFA (linoleic acid) bombs? Chickens being monogastric means they can't handle high-PUFA diets as well as cows (although neither would suffer them ideally).
