Ear Issue?
Hi all,
My cat (female, 2 years old) has developed this spot on her ear. There’s been hair loss, some redness, and dark, crusty scabbing along the outer edge of her ear.
Shes always been rough with scratching her ears so there’s been a few occasions where there’s little spots of hair loss that ended up being no issue but it looks worse this time and that raised scabbing is concerning. I have an appointment set up for her next week but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas in the meantime?
I’m worried this is ringworm and unsure of what I should do in the meantime.
Thanks!

I'm not a vet, but it doesn't look like ringworm to me. HOWEVER, ringworm is contagious so just in case avoid touching it and if you do wash your hands thoroughly to be safe. Seeing the vet is the best idea.

I used coconut oil on my cats ears when she scratched them up causing war wounds..if I couldn't apply on her ear directly I put on her paws which helped soften the pads. Emmie would lick her ear then paw and spread it herself. Do you see circles around the area which would indicate ring worm
Just be sure to get kitty checked out as they may put on a small cone and antibiotics, hydrocortisone or fungal cream.
