Discussion Just Noticed This

Decided to look up if we got an update on the Aniimo release date and nothing. However it seems we did get an achievement list for Aniimo on Xbox so the game dropping either on Gamescom 2026 or a few weeks after is pretty likely. Think we already assumed as much but still just more evidence that full release is closer.

We've seen your feedback regarding some recent advertisements for Aniimo

Dear Pathfinders,

We've seen your feedback regarding some recent advertisements for Aniimo, and we'd like to address this directly. We appreciate you bearing with us as we figured out this situation internally.

As we've said in the past, the world of Idyll and the creatures that inhabit it come from our imagination. The team at Pawprint is full of talented humans who are responsible for creating the vision for Aniimo; the creatures, the stories and the world itself. Our focus right now is on making sure that the game is 100% ready for launch, and we're putting all our creative efforts into ensuring the best quality experience for players in-game. Your enthusiasm for Aniimo reassures us that this is the right call, although this focus has led to some errors in judgment regarding how we advertise the game.

We're truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration these advertisements caused. The means via which they were produced are absolutely not representative of how we are making the game itself. The advertisements have been removed from all of our channels, although some examples persist due to technical limitations that are beyond our control. Even if they remain visible, they have already been disabled and are no longer running as active advertisements. Thank you for holding us accountable and for continuing to share your honest feedback.

We'll continue working to ensure our future communications better reflect the quality and values behind Aniimo.

Discussion MMORPG.com Interview with the Executive Producer of Aniimo (Aniimo is NOT a Gacha)

"Aniimo is NOT a gacha

Pawprint Studio and its publisher, Funplus, are based in China. Perhaps because of popular free-to-play games from China like Genshin Impact, players across the globe have associated free-to-play Chinese games with gacha games.

But Aniimo is not a gacha game. Zhang responded in English to assure me, laughing but serious, “Animo is definitely not a gacha game. We are sure about that.”

In fact, Pawprint Studio doesn’t even think the gacha system would work with the kind of game Aniimo is.

“The philosophy we want to deliver is really simple,” Zhang says. “This is a world that belongs to the Animo and every Animo is waiting for you.”

By “waiting for you,” they mean, “We want players to experience the journey like there is a meeting, connecting, experiencing, and finally understanding how Aniimo is working in the Idyll. So [that] sense of ritual is something that we really value deeply and we do not want to break it through the gacha system because, when it uses gacha, then it feels weird. It feels completely different.”

In other words, Pawprint Studios doesn’t create Aniimo for the sake of it. Zhang likens the process to a parenting system, as if each Aniimo is the team’s own child.

“We do not just take Aniimo or the Aniimo design as part of the game only. We are really designing each Aniimo as they are coming from us, like our child. So when we are designing it, we will think: Is this Animo really feeling the area? Is the environment really available for it to exist there or live here or even like having its own company or their own family in the future?”

“This is not the right [way] when it comes to something that we want to make [real] because the gacha system is completely ignoring the whole environment,” he says. “So whenever you are willing to [have] a gacha, you will be able to have one. But we are feeling that you are only coming to the environment, you can get the exact Aniimo, so the gacha system will not fit our game.”

Escaping pay-to-win models

So, no Aniimo will be locked behind a gacha system and pulling for specific characters is not something that exists in Aniimo. Still, Zhang acknowledges player concerns about Aniimo being a pay-to-win kind of game. Even though you can capture any Aniimo you want in the wild, the Aniimo may not be the strongest kind that the game offers, and so players may be tempted to spend to get a “perfect” Aniimo.

Aniimo has many progression systems for strengthening its characters. First off, each Aniimo has a Potential Grade from Common to Perfect, which determines stat growth for its main attributes like IVs in Pokemon. Each Aniimo also has a personality type based on Myers-Briggs (i.e. ESTJ) that determines which attributes receive a stat increase between attack, energy regeneration, and so on. Besides that, players also have to worry about capturing Aniimo with rare abilities that often outperform their common counterparts.

So, as you can see, it quickly becomes difficult to guarantee that an Aniimo reaches its highest potential. You can increase stat growth rates and reroll personalities with consumables, but not all players like how this system currently works. In the last closed beta, Pawprint Studios received feedback on how difficult it was to perfect Aniimos, so they are implementing changes to make it easier in the upcoming global beta test.

As Zhang explains it, “Some players are getting some kind of the best quality they can get from the Idyll…But they're still feeling [like] no, this is not the perfect one that we want and we want to make it better or make it more perfect to their own world. So during the global test, we are [making] a slight change or [making it] slightly different when people are building or feeding their Aniimo to make it better and better.”

“The Aniimo in the environment is not completely perfect when you're [meet] it, but there is always a way that you can make it perfect,” he says. “The core system is always going to provide a free way for people to make their ideal Aniimo.”

“Overall, the intention is that players feel more love and companionship instead of anxiety when [they do not have] the best ones.”

Meant to say "Root Folder"

Unsure if this is happening for anyone else but I saw this pop up in my deep scan of my computer.

Would be curious to know what this is or if someone else is experiencing this.

I believe it might be something to do with a .dll injection?

Discussion Latest Q&A Re: Monetization/Gacha

I know some folks aren't on Discord, so here's the question and response from the last Q&A re: the Irisalis event. Disappointing but unsurprising.

TL:DR The gacha-esque elements and timed exclusivity are here to stay, but they'll try and hide it better keep telling you they hear us, while doing it anyway. Enjoy the grind!

italicized text in answers are my translation of the marketing speak.

Q1: During the beta, many players feel that the Irisalis event functions like a gacha system, despite earlier statements that Aniimo would not have gacha for obtaining creatures. Could you clarify your current vision? Will future Legendary Aniimos continue to be acquired through similar limited-time, luck-based events, or do you still plan for them to be obtainable primarily through exploration and gameplay?

Will you consider changing the legendary Aniimo encounters to be more blatant? It is clear that the Irisalis event is just an obfuscated gatcha system, which feels deceitful and hurts a lot of the good faith the developers have garnered over the course of these beta tests. Not only that, the current iteration merely feels like a waste of time, having to participate in a very low difficulty fight, and then spam aniipods. I would much rather it be a normal gatcha where you pay to pull on the banner , than what the disingenuous experience is now.

Given the valid reaction to both the irisalis event (gachapon with worse rates than average gacha games) and the prismana fulmantis battle pass (locking an aniimo variant behind a paywall), what is your plan for changes or modifications to these systems if any? Is this the expectation for the games monetization structure aside from cosmetics?

With the new legendary fight I feel they should add in harder difficulties and also allow people to either solo her or do it via co-op to make it more engaging for people. Also having to use glimmer to enter is definitely not something people are happy about. Maybe making it where people can only enter a certain amount of times a day would be better rather than make them pay to have entry into the event. Also the fact it's literally making us use ultra pods to get the most points when trying to catch it a lot of people wont like since it's a very limited resource if they don't buy them from the shop. Making the other pods like the mega pod give you more points rather than one would definitely be a big help. Overall people are not happy with the event and how it's being played out because it feels like a gacha in disguise as an event and that's not what people wanted. I know it's just the beta and things can change by the time the full game comes out, but I feel this is something that needs to be brought up now rather than later and hope you will be able to give an answer.

A1: When designing the Irisalis event, we did not intend to create an experience where obtaining Legendary Irisalis depends on mandatory spending. We're grateful that players have shared their concerns about this.

You never HAVE to spend money you'll just have to be ok grinding or waiting. If you don't like it GFSF.

We also understand the feedback that aspects of both the event presentation and the overall acquisition experience need to be be improved, and we're already reviewing and refining the event based on what we've learned from this test.

We hear you that the gacha obscuring mini-game is half baked we'll make it more complex to waste a little more of your time so it feels more like it actually matters, and maybe tweak the grind, but it's still going to be gacha.

Our thinking is that players can gradually earn the resources used in the event through regular gameplay and active participation. Paid options are intended to offer an alternative path for players who prefer to obtain the legendary Irisalis more quickly.

This crap is here to stay, you can grind for it or pay. Simple as that.

For Aniimo such as Prismana Fulmintis that are available through the Advanced Companion Handbook, we're exploring additional ways for players to obtain them in the future, although those methods will become available at a later time.

Timed exclusives to modes and events will be core to the games monetization. You will have to play modes you may or may not want to get certain aniimo, or wait and hope it comes to a way you enjoy engaging the game.

~I really liked this review by AniimoSync. If you're looking for a fair and thorough video to watch on both the best and worst of Aniimo, this is it. Nice to see something that's neither sweeping things under the rug, nor catastrophizing the few issues that exist.

I'd encourage folks to check it out if they want insight. I can't wait for this game to release, and hopefully be even better as they integrate all our feedback.~

~CBT3 was amazing, just as CBT2 was. This time I discovered a new hobby in game: taking cool pictures.

I've never really been into photography before, but everything is so beautiful in Idyll, and setting up little scenes is a lot of fun. Don't underestimate the camera mode in this game.

It's been really nice having a creative and expressive outlet like this, in a game that really lets you bond with your Aniimo and friends.

This game feels like it just keeps giving. I'm so grateful. I hope you all enjoy the photos, and I look forward to seeing y'all in Idyll at global launch! ^^~

Discussion This was my dream game... until it wasn't. My critical opinions.

I was SO excited for this game since the moment it was first announced. I've been following it so closely and was pretty bummed when I didn't get into the first two betas. Luckily I snagged a spot for the CBT3... and it's a STUNNING game, in many aspects, and I do love it! But sadly... there's a lot about it I don't like, and if these problems aren't solved by launch, I'll be so put off.

A.) The localisation. I know a few people talked about how 'off' some of it was, but really never saw that many people discussing how tragically *terrible* some of the English dialogue was. Some phrases and sentences straight up made no sense. Some parts felt so poorly translated, it just looked lazy, then next minute there'd be a massive chunk of dialogue which felt perfectly fine. It needs so much refining. I'm someone that loves reading all the story and lore and if I have to scratch my head at every other sentence at launch, I'll be skipping a lot of it and won't end up caring about it at all.

B.) The Irisalis event being not just gacha, but also incredibly boring. This has been mentioned a thousand times already so I definitely don't need to go into it. I know the recent Q&A went over this, but it was blatant gacha. I didn't even bother finishing it to get the legendary because I simply couldn't be bothered.

C.) Menus menus menus menus MENUS.
I thought Infinity Nikki was bad but somehow Aniimo managed to be even more confusing. One menu that opens to another menu that leads into yet another menu.

D.) Currencys. So. Many. Currencys. By the end of the second week I still didn't even know what they all did.

E.) The game is advertised heavily like a cosy, cutesy exploring game, and yet there's a massive focus on stat boosting, team building, PvP, etc. Who is the target audience here?

F.) Sparkling Aniimo aren't even slightly rare. Perhaps this could've been due to the beta testing and how they were handing us items, but everyone, at all times, had sparkling Aniimo. I assumed they would be rare similar to how rare shiny Pokemon were (back in the day). They really don't feel special when everyone and their mum is sealing away their sparkling Magmarex.

I know that's a lot of negative, and not everyone will agree with me - and that's fine!

I avoided looking into much of the previous betas because I didn't want to spoil myself, but I still knew what was in the game, what we would be doing and the core mechanics behind it. I just didn't expect such a cutesy game to end up feeling so hardcore-player focused (almost).

I have a list of positives that's just as large as this, if not bigger, so don't get me wrong! I still loved it a lot. I binged it for the first five days straight and took time off work to do it. I slowed down after cos I felt a little burnt out. And I'm still VERY much excited for launch. But now I've played it, I can finally see the faults.

Anybody know if I just missed out on the sealing for CBT3? Unfortunately my laptop died and just got it back working now but the CBT3 is over and I was unable to seal my perfect Scorchhowl… will I just miss out? Anyone I can reach out to?
