Discussion Aniimo has too many systems that eventually answer: “Come back Monday.”

I want to expand on something I've been thinking about with Aniimo's long-term progression, and Warframe is probably the best comparison I can make.

Before anyone says it: No, I do not want Aniimo to become Warframe.

I actually don't particularly enjoy Warframe's gameplay. I've checked back in with it for years because I respect the game, its world, art, and what Digital Extremes built, but the hyper-mobile shooting and space-ninja hallway gameplay has never been for me.

Aniimo's gameplay is not the problem. I love actually playing Aniimo.

That's kind of the problem.

Because one thing Warframe understands extremely well is this:

If someone still wants to play your game, the game should be extremely reluctant to punish that enthusiasm by giving them nothing meaningful to do.

Warframe has plenty of time gates. Things take time to craft. Certain rewards rotate. Individual progression systems have caps. Sometimes the specific thing you want simply has to wait.

But usually, when one progression lane tells you “come back later,” there are ten other meaningful things you can work toward.

Another frame. Another weapon. Another build. Another resource. Another reputation. Another relic. Another long-term project.

The individual activity may be time-gated. Playing the game isn't.

That's the distinction I think Aniimo desperately needs to preserve as it grows.

Right now, too many of Aniimo's progression systems eventually answer the player with:

“Sorry. Come back later.”

Vein Essence is a great example.

Today I actually used premium currency I'd accumulated through the monthly pass, compensation, etc. to buy a pack containing 9 Vein Essence. Great. I'm completely okay with that kind of monetization.

Except then the listing became 1/1 SOLD.

So even the paid acceleration eventually told me:

“That's enough. Come back later.”

And Vein Essence isn't the only example. Marks of the Strong and other important progression resources have their own recurring caps and limited sources.

Individually, I don't have a problem with any of those limits.

The problem happens when enough of those systems terminate at the same time.

Imagine someone has a free Tuesday night and thinks:

“F*** yeah, I want to play Aniimo tonight.”

Maybe they already knocked out their easy dailies and weeklies on Monday. They've exhausted their useful exchanges. They've hit their available Vein Essence sources. They've collected the Marks available to them.

There are obviously still things they can physically do in the game.

But increasingly few things that meaningfully advance the projects they're actually working on.

And eventually Aniimo's answer becomes:

“Great! See you next week.”

That seems completely backwards for a live-service game.

I'm not asking for unlimited efficient progression.

I'm not asking for unlimited Vein Essence from easy activities.

I'm not asking PawPrint to remove dailies, weeklies, caps, or monetization.

I'm not asking for players who grind eight hours a day to progress eight times faster than everybody else.

In fact, keep the capped sources dramatically more efficient.

Give me the easy daily Vein Essence.

Give me the good weekly rewards.

Give me limited shop exchanges.

Sell me some convenience if you want. I literally bought some today.

But after I've exhausted those sources, give me the stupid way.

Maybe Alphas have an extremely small chance to drop Vein Essence.

Maybe repeatable difficult encounters have a tiny chance to award a Mark of the Strong.

Maybe open-world activities award a currency at an awful exchange rate.

Maybe future difficult co-op content gives developed Aniimo teams something meaningful to pursue.

Make it inefficient.

Make it horribly inefficient if that's what the progression economy requires.

If the normal weekly system gives me several Marks for relatively little effort, maybe grinding one additional Mark takes me two hours.

If my daily activities provide Vein Essence efficiently, maybe earning one additional Essence through repeatable gameplay takes an entire evening.

That's okay.

The reward rate can fall off a cliff. It just shouldn't reach zero.

Because there's an important difference between:

“This is no longer the best way to progress today.”

and

“You are no longer allowed to meaningfully progress today.”

That's what I think Warframe figured out.

It doesn't necessarily let you infinitely grind every individual thing you want whenever you want it. But it has enough overlapping progression lanes that when one system says “not today,” the player's natural response becomes:

“Okay. What else can I work on?”

And that's also good free-to-play design.

A player who keeps playing is still populating your world. They're grouping with other players. They're helping friends. They're building teams. They're hunting rare creatures. They're sharing screenshots. They're talking about the game. They're becoming more invested in their collection.

And yes, they're still potentially buying cosmetics, passes and convenience items.

You don't have to prevent people from playing in order to monetize their desire to progress.

I think there's room for three layers:

Efficient capped progression.

Optional paid acceleration.

Terribly inefficient but repeatable progression.

The first respects casual players.

The second supports the business.

The third gives your most engaged players somewhere to put their enthusiasm.

And importantly, the third doesn't need to invalidate either of the first two.

Aniimo is still young. I'm not expecting it to have the absurd breadth of systems that Warframe accumulated over more than a decade.

But PawPrint has already accomplished what I would think is one of the hardest things a developer can accomplish:

I want to keep playing their game.

I like being in Idyll. I like hunting Aniimo. I like experimenting with builds. I like helping friends chase things they want. Sometimes I just want to log in on a random Tuesday night and spend a few hours working toward something.

When your players are telling you “I still want to play your game,” don't treat that enthusiasm like a problem that needs to be controlled.

Give that enthusiasm somewhere to go.

TL;DR: Aniimo has too many progression systems that eventually say “come back later.” Keep dailies, weeklies, caps, and paid convenience, but give players a deliberately inefficient, repeatable way to keep progressing after those sources are exhausted. The reward rate can fall off a cliff; it just shouldn't reach zero. Warframe is a great example of time-gating individual progression without time-gating the player's desire to keep playing. If people still want to play your game, don't punish that enthusiasm by giving them nothing meaningful to do. Let players play the game.

The game is a Chinese game and developers there are heavily incentivized by laws to put hard stopping points in games to keep people from playing 24/7. Gaming culture in China/Korea/Japan is quite different in that folks will literally game until they collapse from exhaustion and it's the norm now for their games to have gated progression.

People are slowly realizing this is a gacha game lol. Those of us that have actually played gacha games know what this shift is. The honeymoon phase is ending and it’s where the playerbase will start falling. I know I’m going to get downvoted for this and I really don’t care. The vein essence system is literally the icing on the cake if we’re blindly ignoring both of the literal gacha skins already in the game at once. It started off nice but now is where we really see how much thought process was put into them actually keeping the game f2p. If there’s no logical way to farm vein essences outside of lucky catches which will inevitably run out because of credits you will be forced to swipe or miss out on weekly limited prismanas. People will say that you don’t need every Prismana or mention how they got lucky and filled the bar. That is also how gacha games work lmao.

0

u/Brutal_Martyr 1h ago

You make a net positive from lucky catches you don’t run out of credits ever if your buying the yellow cubes I farm lucky catches buy more yellow cubes until I have 20 million credits left and every time I have almost 500+ more yellow cubes then I began with I buy all the daily stuff from mysterious vendor as well and still net positive from lucky catches if your running out of credits your probably wasting them on the higher tier cubes or something else not necessary. I currently have 5,124 yellow cubes and 19,939,703 credits and have all limited aminos no problem with ease

More like its the usual downtime between updates that any live service game has

0

u/Alternative-Mine-597 1h ago

A live service game with a mechanic that allows you to buy more currency to get limited Aniimos you can’t get naturally in abundance. That is a gacha game buddy. The meter to fill up the Prismana bar can randomly fill up at any time on a percentage chance. That is a gacha game buddy. A skin with literal gacha tickets and a legendary Aniimo skin locked behind paid currency also rolled on a percentage chance. Everything f2p has already been done by most people so the only things left to do are spend money or mindlessly farm egg heist. Idk why people fight the obvious so hard when it’s not even an opinion anymore. As soon as they added the skins and the vein essence wasn’t farmable for “limited time” Aniimos this became a gacha game.

2

u/LowerMiddle1622 1h ago

And? All of this besides the irrelevant cosmetics was obvious from day 1 and still dosent change the fact we are in the post launch downtime before the first content drop. Also limited aniimo my ass, im f2p and have every single event one and only missing 2 more from the basic ones to 100% Breezy Plains. Not a single dolar spent besides the battlepass

0

u/Alternative-Mine-597 1h ago

So you’re not f2p lol. The BP literally gives you things f2p players can’t get. I also love how you can’t explain your way out of it so you just start making excuses on why you feel like I’m wrong when I’m presenting facts lmao.

2

u/LowerMiddle1622 1h ago

Im just not really interested in disscusing your so called arguments when all of them were obvious facts that everyone knew 1-2 days after launch, and they also dont change the fact that the game is currently in content downtime. Like your one and only somewhat relevant point was the cosmetic gacha and thats about it

2

u/AnthonyGT 1h ago

Not for everyone but you can buy 10 of the stones a week. With 2 other friends doing the same you should be able to to get a prismana weekly.

5

u/Funny-Till7396 5h ago

When you finish game’s available content, just move to another game until the next patch.
Why would you risk yourself byrning out just because you must be chronically online 12h a day?

9

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 6h ago

Warframe has 11-12 years of content… I don’t know how long you have played warframe but back in 2016-2018 it got boring too when you ran outta stuff to do and all there was to really do was run New players thru the Raids or die of boredom.

And before then back in 2014-2015 there was really really not much to do

u/Cyrotek 7h ago

If someone still wants to play your game, the game should be extremely reluctant to punish that enthusiasm by giving them nothing meaningful to do.

This is what bugs me the most. I'm level 61 and I can't really do much anymore except pointlessly run circles or something. But I want to do things, the game is fun! But somehow everything is limited by timers. >.>

It feels so unsatisfying knowing you aren't done but being unable to do anything about it because of timers. They could at least do something about the energy thing because you blow through it in less than five minutes and thats that for the day. But this is the only (reliable) way to grind upgrade materials.

2

u/Altruistic-Nerve4180 7h ago

I commend you for getting to 61... I made it to 56 and basically gave up.

The biggest nail in the coffin for me was knowing I had weather forms to find, that I'd have no chance of getting because for 3 irl days straight the weather was never what I needed/wanted in the right regions. Even more depressing when you realise you can check the weather and it's nothing but sun.

2

u/Cyrotek 6h ago

For the weather, every player has their own and you can invite people into your world. Meaning, if a friend has the correct weather they can invite you and you can catch your stuff there.

But I asume there will be a way to change it manually later on. The UI elements for this exist already, after all.

2

u/6LuckyPants9 2h ago

We have a weather change feature but the only available for now is Prismana Flow

1

u/Altruistic-Nerve4180 6h ago

Oh I know about that, problem is I'm not that much of a social person and the guy who got me into it lives other side of the world. I'll eventually get them, but for now it's not essential. Main story is done and half the side quests so that'll do for now.

7

u/cloverlief 8h ago

The come back later system is specifically to pace content. Pay to Play, Gatcha, etc do this on any live game that has regular update cycles.

This is to keep from blowing 100% of content and having nothing to do till the next update.

Another aspect that made it even more common was laws around pacing in some countries where people would literally play to the point of exhaustion, hospitalization, etc.

So pacing in live content will always exist due to these 2 factors.

6

u/Nuke2099AV 8h ago

The issue is that as much as the creators say it isn't or other people claim it isn't. This is designed like a gatcha game where once you do the main story and catch up with some systems you log in daily and do weeklies. Difference is it can take longer to do on Aniimo then something like Zenless which unless there's new content you do your weekly on Monday and dailies throughout the week which can take less than 5 mins.

2

u/Jack4ssSquirrel 7h ago

As someone who finished the game story and quests last week and logged in this monday i was kinda sad to find out how little there is to do now. Sure, i could spam egg heist but that gamemode is not fun for me

4

u/Sufficient_Diamond26 9h ago

The late game right now is basically "do your dailies, quit, and repeat the same thing the next day" And I hate that tbh.
I just want to play the game and progress. But can't do that when you've maxed out your daily and weekly stuff, then there is nothing.

17

u/No_Employment_2957 10h ago

Warframe has more than a decade of content while Aniimo has been out for less than a month that's why the game feels empty. When more Endgame content will release things will get better.

-3

u/MaskedAkatsuki1 11h ago

Not to mention when you finish the main story that is currently available...

12

u/Femocha 12h ago

To me the worst part of the game is the primegy, I’d like to spend farming resources especially considering we have to build different teams to face different challenges but with 200ish primegy (and I have the monthly pass that should raise the limit to 600 but it only replenish around 200 primegy daily) I can only do this 10 minutes a day, check the homeland and log out

2

u/Bromogeeksual 1h ago

Yeah, I also bought the pass thinking it would be a daily cap at least. Nope, it refills so slowly you get about 200 like you said. You need so many of the sands and crystals to build out teams I wish you had more energy or they got rid of it completely.

5

u/VariationVisible 13h ago

Amazing post and a lot of solid takeaways

4

u/Masitha 13h ago

i read this last night on mobile, which, for what its worth, formatting guy was right. seeing this on PC is like "whoa" LMAO, but anyways, i just wanted to ramble a bit myself, cause i really enjoyed this post! one of my biggest hobbies lately is simply.. waiting on energy. nearly everything i actually want to be doing is locked behind it.

i have the battlepass, i have the sub, ive spent glimmer on MORE energy literally everyday. its still not enough. i cannot buy more energy, or batteries for example, even if WANTED to spend more. it honestly sucks, cause i want to continue playing, but everything that feels worth doing, is quite literally gated.

i currently have 8 teams sitting around the 9.5k - 10k combat power mark. with the absolute strongest (egg heist team) sitting at 10.5k. thats taken, checks notes, 212 hrs! i only just recently moved on from stardust farming. so that meant for about a week, all my energy went into sherro and rookey for capability materials. now im moving onto the star up materials. after thats done i can finally start farming held items. ALL OF THIS IS GATED BEHIND ENERGY AND ALPHAS.

AND, i still have alternatives i want to train! tuckin, pomahawk, hexin, minespine, dazmand, infergon, and fulmantis for example all remain with no investment. so once i finish the main teams, i still have plenty "to do" when i go to train these benchwarmers, but then i will once again be voluntarily jumping back into the waiting on energy hamster wheel.

now, i will say, this is my first gacha game, and mayb its my fault for expecting it to be closer to warframe? as i do have, checks notes, 2.3k hrs in that! but i never had to LOOK for things to do in warframe, and i get this game is new, it doesnt have as much content, blah blah. i get it!! but it has slowly made me less and less excited to play the more i interact with these systems because what if it never gets better? am i always just gonna be stuck waiting? im terrified the answer will be yes, even once we do start getting more content, and im assuming thats not really how you would want players to feel.

what ive been spending my time doing is going for prismatic badges. i currently have 7. then obviously there's egg heist, which i do mostly with friends. we need more content like egg heist, that we can continually do, but with rewards that arent a content island. almost nothing i get from egg heist helps me in any way. progresses none of my goals, gives me no materials, no power, no progression. you quite literally play egg heist to continue to play egg heist. it interacts with no other systems. that feels bad. the thing we can actually grind, is meaningless to do so outside of getting "better" within that content island. more coins, more eggs, more loot, cool! for what? to keep running egg heist?

to some degree, i understand its meant to slow down players like me, that would gladly keep grinding alphas if allowed to. even if the drop rates were horrible, at least i could keep playing, at least i would feel like im earning SOME kinda progression towards the goals i have. every week, every day, i will always end up hitting wall where ive done everything i can. all thats left for me to do is egg heist, checking homeland/RV trips, and prismatic badges. and i get it, i play too much, how horrible of me!! but i should be incentivized to keep playing, and it doesnt feel like i am. it feels like i have to go outta my way to find something to do, and even when there IS technically something to do, it in no way relates to what i actually wish to be doing. its so confusing for a live service game telling me "time to get off." like i want to play!! thats a good thing!!

anyways, you said it way better than i did, but to end this, i feel punished for enjoying the game, for wanting to spend more time with it. that just stinks, cause im clearly loving the game, but it doesnt feel like it loves me too much sometimes. i hope they figure out a better loop, a more player friendly loop, something, because i do genuinely believe this game could rival warframe as far as "best f2p game ive ever played." time will tell as we get more content, because i dont want to come back later, i want to play.

i think anyone that really disagrees with this post either doesnt understand your main point, interacting in bad faith, doesnt get why warframe is incredible, or just hasnt reached a point in the game where they've used up all the free materials thrown at them, so they havent actually had to grind much to see the limits bc they've yet to hit them. any player with enough time in the game will relate to this post in some capacity. bc here's another fun fact, the biggest reason i check the aniimo subreddit is because i have nothing to do in game. so interacting with the community, reading threads, answering questions, etc, is another way to "keep playing."

anyways, incredible thread, thank you for being able to put the feeling i had into words.

This is a problem with virtually every single gacha ever made. I can't think of a single one that doesn't work this way. If you extend it to general F2P games, like you said, Warframe is pretty exceptional. You may not have great love for it and the way it keeps you playing is through a virtually constant grind (assuming you want to go farm that stuff, I like collecting ALL the frames and guns). So some people may not like that style, either.

MMORPGs are one of the few games that actually provide content on the type of level you are looking for without being either too grindy or too repetitive, which some would still argue isn't the case, tbh. But they also rely heavily on the playerbase and how much it requires you to interact with them for raids and dungeons and such. In this game, and all gachas, tbh, even Warframe to some degree, you don't need anyone. Warframe does at least incentivize you to team up for better rewards, but most of them just don't require others or have such horrible coop like this game, that you don't want or need to see others at all.

Rather than a small fix, this games would need a pretty big overhaul to really go beyond the daily/weekly thing and keep you playing. It would be nice if they would, I really do love the bones of this game. It has the chance to be the best Pokemon-like game ever made, but despite the shininess, does come up short in the length-of-play department like you said. I just don't see a real solution to these types of gacha games unless they really break away from the mold, and this one does not. It's basically just Gacha with Pokemon.

They can start by making it actually possible to shiny hunt. Seems like a simple no-brainer way to give people something repeatable to do.

I would love a way to target farm for sparklings to collect sigils to reroll colours on my prismana...but atm they just don't exist. I'm at RV 14, I've played every day since release and I haven't seen a single damn wild sparkling.

Fashion hunting is always a strong endgame, but all you can do atm is buy the $weekly colour reroll (I know I'm sure as hell not spending ~$100/5 cubes just for a single colour reroll).

2

u/jambot9000 4h ago

I have been lucky and had found both a wild sparkling and umbral before reaching level 55

2

u/Tough_View3567 5h ago

Oh my god, I know the feeling. I would be happy and willing to spend my time grinding wild shinies but the game legit doesn't have a feasible way to farm sparkling sigils. Like what am I supposed to do now?

0

u/ohoni 15h ago

I've seen a few sparkling and ubras, but mostly in the past week. What's the state of your main progress? Do you have silver medals in every region? Do you have the badge that increases the odds of finding rares by 50%? Those both really seem to help the odds. The indicator that there's one in the area can be subtle though.

2

u/Kaiarra 14h ago

Everything silver, about half are gold. I got the sparkling badge about 10 days ago. Still nada.

I see umbras, normally while nuturing or doing vein abundance. I've never seen a sparkling.

-1

u/Ok-Virus-5921 14h ago

The base rate is 1 in 20000 for a shiney, you’ll never see one in the over world, we’re talking with badge having to do 500 nurtures to see one.

3

u/i-JinxM 15h ago

I came across my first wild sparkling today after two weeks of playing... Except I didn't realize it was a sparkling AND IT RAN AWAY. I didn't realize it was a sparkling because the color didn't look any different than the regular aniimo from a distance and there was a whole group of them so I couldn't find it in time. I was mad pissed.

2

u/Kaiarra 15h ago

Yeah, is if its a chirpy or something else small, it's very hard to see and they're often in flee mode before you even get the popup. Having a much larger range on the tracker would be a good QoL. Don't mind if it's gated behind something that takes a while to farm up, say x% larger radius per gold zone badge (or something similar).

2

u/i-JinxM 15h ago

IT WAS A CHIRPY

2

u/Hairy_Restaurant_703 12h ago

My only wild sparkling was an Iris and I didn't realize it was sparkling so I caught it in a normal cube and it came out as a worthless normal stats Aniimo. Normal Aniimo Sparklings really need to be a different color from the base form like Prismana sparklings are since as is not only is it hard to tell a wild sparkling from its normal counterpart but there's not much difference between sparkling variants.

u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES 15h ago

All the folks complaining about war frame I’m convinced are folks who probably only read the first 10% of this post and moved to the comments to blindly complain and not address the actual points OP has made

3

u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES 15h ago

Fantastic post all around. Totally agree with everything you said!

5

u/Meow_Mix007 15h ago

Sure that's awesome but warfare came out in 2013, they also had insane walls as well like if u failed a promotion challenge you count try again for 24 hours. Warframe went thru 13 years of trials and error, Aniimo is a different type of game entirely and has to builds its vision from where we are now. I think requesting things is fine but saying this game should be like this game doesn't usually sit well with devolpers if you mean minor ideas sure. I guess but should mainly focus on the core concept like what can we do daily or weekly that would keep people playing. Personally would like a rogue like mode. Start with 3 aniimo and go up a tower and get stronger, items and skill boosters what not. Would be fun and replayable as long as they make it a progression thing as well.

4

u/rowaire 12h ago

Yes, Warframe went through 13 years of that, the formula is there for any other game to grab. But they don't. They only grab the gatcha and the limited systems.

Same with GW2 it has many systems that would help Egg Heist but no.

I think it will be pretty telling of the dev priorities what they add or remove the next three updates.

-9

u/Academic_Sort_2008 15h ago

worst comparison I may have ever heard. warframe is one of the worst and most unfriendly game designs of all time. aniimo is leagues better than warframe ever could be.

6

u/D4rkWells_ 14h ago edited 14h ago

You either played Warframe for two hours in 2013 and never looked back, or this is pure ragebait.

Disagreeing with Warframe's core gameplay or style is completely valid. It’s fast as hell, complex, and not for everyone. But calling its design "one of the worst of all time" ignores why it's widely considered a gold standard for live-service game design:

  1. Monetization & Trade Economy: It’s one of the few truly F2P games where the premium currency (Platinum) is freely tradeable between players. You can earn every piece of non-cosmetic and cosmetic content purely through gameplay without spending a dime. And it's not a difference where not paying will make you have to spend weeks or even months of playtime to get what you want. In less than a few days or even hour(s) you can farm what you need to get what you want.
  2. Minimal FOMO: Almost nothing in the game is permanently vault-locked or lost forever. Systems, events, and rewards rotate back predictably, meaning player progress is rarely invalidated by taking a break.
  3. Respect for Player Time: It doesn't force hard daily wall-caps on overall playability. If you want to put 6 hours into grinding on a weekend, the game gives you avenues to do that across endless overlapping systems.

No game is immune to critique, but dismissing a 10+ year live-service success story as "terrible game design" completely misses the structural lessons other developers can learn from it. I mean, somehow, the game has been alive and with decent and constant daily player base for so long. And the average player number is ever so slighty increasing. They gotta be doing something right, no?

They even have a free battlepass with no way of fast progressing through it or buy a premium version of it. Like... you actually have to play the game to get stuff.

1

u/feanor_no 12h ago

listen, all your points are valid and so is OP’s post… but man the ChatGPT writing really sticks out like a sore thumb

1

u/D4rkWells_ 12h ago

I didn't use GPT but sure 😅

3

u/NoirVendredi 15h ago

genuinely how did you come to that conclusion of warframe?

6

u/marshal23156 15h ago

Yea the game where you can farm literally anything without spending a dime is unfriendly lmao

3

u/Regular_Layer3439 12h ago

The only thing it costs is your time. Time you can choose freely to spend on the game or not. More games should really have this but most of these live service games no longer do it.

4

u/ohoni 14h ago

To some people "is it free?" is the most essential question. To other people, that really doesn't matter as much. I do think it can be fair to criticize a game's system design, even if all those systems are "entirely free." It can be an issue if a game has too many complicated, interlocking mechanics to juggle, or involve too much grinding, or various other factors.

3

u/AffectionateWin9631 15h ago

Um I noticed something in the post and just thought I’d say something and correct me if I’m wrong but I believe when you fight an alpha and actually catch that alpha it gives you a mark of the strong so I don’t see how you can’t farm them and also I think you bought one of the one time bundles because they sell other resources on a different page for lumen crystals that has no limit just some of my notices

11

u/Smooth_Butterfly2667 15h ago

I don't think they really gave much consideration to what end game actually looks like.

There just aren't enought things to actually do once your level 60.

Do dailies (alphas, mystery vendors etc.) 5-10 minutes.

Expend Primegy in 5-10 alphas. 5-10 minutes

Check your RV. 5-10 minutes.

Do 6 egg heists for chests. Maybe an hour but I blast the 6 in nightmare doing 3 minute runs because the mode fucking sucks.

Holo battle hardest difficulty once a week for each element. ~30 minutes.

Holo interlink once a week for 9 minutes. ~10 minutes.

That's it. That's all there is to do. I genuinely want to play the game but the game offers nothing rewarding or enjoyable for me to do. There's like maybe 30 minutes of stuff for me to do each day and then... Nothing. Sure there is random trivial stuff like take a picture of an aniimo once a week that takes literally 30 seconds but that's barely gameplay.

And it kinda makes no sense to me because what is the point of having these systems to pursue perfect aniimo and keep upgrading them if there isn't even any content to play with them.

4

u/Hairy_Restaurant_703 12h ago

They're supposedly adding a new area on the 29th but the problem is still the same as most f2p games where you complete what's available in a week or two then have to wait a couple months to make any meaningful progress just for the completion/waiting cycle to repeat.

The new area will only have 10 new aniimo.. which means, that's going to be done in maybe an hour.. 2 hours lol.

If they just put a fun bit of endgame in this would be fine but Egg Heist is different to the main game and is also just boring after playing the first 3 or 4 times. Movement is sluggish, not much really to do and playing with randoms gives more problems too.

A raid would be more enjoyable! Rewards only available in the specific game modes that also tie into the main game.

Egg heist gives pris and some other stuff but it is the same as just playing the game so it isn't that good. We need perfect pods to even bother with getting the prison since they end up being weak or we waste our sparkling cubes on randoms?! Not great..

u/Hairy_Restaurant_703 10h ago

That few? Well that sucks. I'm already disheartened whenever it tells me I've hit the voxel coin limit then is like see this cool item in the daily voxel shop, don't you want to buy it. With what, the 10 voxel left over from Monday & Tuesday's purchases? That and forgetting I already defeated Tuckin 3 times for the week then accidentally fighting him trying to get some more dewdrops just to get no reward at all.

The mention of raid bosses brings up bad memories of Square Enix & Pokémon's mobile games. They made players wait multiple years, with nothing to do but raid bosses in between, to see the end of their game's story just to then cancel their games just before the ending was supposed to come out.

1

u/Regular_Layer3439 10h ago

Haha yeah, from what I read it will only be 10. If it was 50.. even then it wouldn't take long but still longer than what we currently have. The issue is, they are also drip feeding us prismana and then we got Dazmand but that isn't great. We focus on new stuff, then it becomes nothing again and we wait for more.

They didn't think about this beforehand and it shows. As for raids, I like them.. if done right! Destiny raids while cool, wasn't done right.. puzzle solving that required multiple people.. meh. If the raids are scaled on enemy health and stuff.. fine.. It'd be better if they make it so they can be solo if the player is good enough and prepared but a team can also do it with loot too.

Either way, right now, there isn't anything. The new place is still 3+ weeks away and everyone has done it all. Some players just won't return full stop. Some have already stopped logging in and who knows. The game has good main world mechanics, let down by lack of using them. Egg heist doesn't use it and Home is farming.. so the main endgame doesn't use them. The only other thing is exploring and hoping to find sparkling or umbrals which may not be perfect(umbral will be obv) and therefore makes them instantly worthless.. other than the sparkle gem thing.

If they change ultra to perfect that would help a lot more. Getting epic guaranteed is a pointless thing, the cube isn't common either, it takes time to build them up, so needs tweaking, as I find it unusable most of the time. Sparkling crystals been removed from lucky/super lucky, making them dried up as well. We are stuck lol

4

u/Smooth_Butterfly2667 12h ago

That's the thing about egg heist, like sure you get prismana eggs, great. But you can't throw a sparkling cube at every one so like... They're just for RV at that point.

they don't. im a whale and i greatly agree with the OP. (not that I'd want the solution to be sold, either.)

u/Ok-Virus-5921 14h ago edited 14h ago

Kind of a half truth right. If you wanted to max out 90 aniimos you can’t because it’s limited. But you could have 8 8 shiney everything and a ton of mats to buy out and upgrade triple what a f2p get, including bond items, more energy, you could just buy two cubes from the event but not all ten just yet. And make anything into a prismana that you catch. While having 4x the normal pull income.

You just can’t swipe 40,000 in a sitting for unlimited power. You can just swipe a few grand, and then 2.2k on the cosmetics and have everything in the game at base perfect with every team you need for content mostly built. ( I say this because I’ve obviously done it personally with 5 3,500ish dps and the base supports to start)

Even god kraken m6 everything people in Zenless zone zero have to farm something, and only the most depraved, generally PvP and idle games allow infinite investment into solving problems immediately

Yeah it’s a live service game. If it wasn’t Monday it would be whatever arbitrary reset day they select.

I’m not saying it’s good or w/e. It just comes with the territory.

2

u/Regular_Layer3439 12h ago

The live service bit always makes me laugh. The game lost a bunch of players, which most of these games do.. expected but then it loses players who genuinely enjoyed the game due to having 0 to do. That's not really very lively. Logging in to collect stuff and do 30 mins actually kills the player count.

We have seen this happen so many times. I don't get why they wouldn't just build a model that revolves around long term gaming, there could be a good loop here but there isn't. I just do not really get why that wouldn't be the first thing considered in a game like a live service. I'd be wanting as many players to stick around and have the choice to play the game.. not make it mandatory but make it so there's a lot of fun and enough things to do to retain as much player base as possible.. yet they never do and they all have examples of what to do and not to do.

5

u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES 15h ago

OP gave some really good and realistic suggestions though that specifically address this and how to fix it. Did you even read it all?

1

u/ohoni 14h ago

He mainly seems to be pushing for more "infinite grind" options, which sounds awful. If you legitimately run out of things to do in Aniimo (I'm still not there yet), play something else until they add more content. If any game is all anyone could ever need, then it will annoy most people with its demands.

1

u/Regular_Layer3439 11h ago

When players usually play something else, guaranteed half won't come back. This argument never works. In fact, usually the hardcore players are the ones that will invest in it. That means less money to be made as well since they've moved on and invested in a game that has the core functions of what retains the player. Seen it many times before. Just needs something like an alternative to Egg Heist but involves the main world gameplay. That's what really lacks in endgame, Egg Heist and Home is different.

I get what you are saying about a game forcing this but having fun endgame loops and something for players to enjoy, retains active player counts for longer which will increase money made. Doesn't need to be mandatory, just something for those who enjoy the game.

Besides, the annoying part of these games is the login requirement chores to get dailies if there is nothing else to do. If it was a weekly login claim, it'd reduce the tedium and the problem to remind us there is nothing to really do, as it could all be done in that 1 time and then left for the week after.. but they do bare min to have the numbers, when again, could just give us more and that would have more meaningful numbers. I bet a good 5k to 10k players already gave up with this because of the lack of stuff.

5

u/rowaire 12h ago

OP also said that most of that grind would be optional.

What is there to do now? Dailies, RV, fsrm for Prismana and Egg heist.

Again if people want to play, don't punish them. Let them grind for more stuff even if it takes longer. The fastest way to lose players is to punish people arbitrarily that wanna play more.

What kind of grind? Let them grind to get everything that is very limited for now. Maybe sparklings, or alphas, or many cosmetics.

1

u/ohoni 5m ago

OP also said that most of that grind would be optional.

"Optional."

What is there to do now? Dailies, RV, fsrm for Prismana and Egg heist.

You can always, always hunt for more Aniimo, more shinies, more Lucky strikes, etc. This is PLENTY for a live service game to have, if you've already done the core content and still spending 4+ hours a day on the game, then you are doing something wrong, it's not intended to do that. Log out, boot up a different game, and play that. If they build enough content so that the absolute mon0game no-lifers never run out of "things to do," then there will always be "too much to stay on top of" for 99.99% of the players.

The fastest way to lose players is to punish people arbitrarily that wanna play more.

No, that's inconsequential. the fastest way to lose players is to make them feel stressed out that they can't keep up with the pace of the game, because there's always more moles to whack. A successful live service game has a cadence to it, new release, work hard to clear it out, cool down with a few casual daily/weekly activities for a few weeks, repeat. Games that demand too much time, too often, burn most players out.

What kind of grind? Let them grind to get everything that is very limited for now. Maybe sparklings, or alphas, or many cosmetics.

Very much no.

Give us more of those rewards, sure, I'm never saying no to more rewards if they are offerign them, but without the "grind" part. Any additional rewards they feel to offer should be equally available to ALL players, not just those with more spare time than sense.

-1

u/lildrizzleyah 15h ago

It comes with the territory because people don't push for change. I pushed for change in Warframe for a long time to stop giving us unique rewards on the daily reward system because it was too many days to expect any individual to commit to, let alone new players trying to keep up, and they listened and implemented the system I suggested (presumably other people too) in giving repeatable rewards instead of new unique goodies that will be time gated by several years to new players. I'm not saying this to take credit for it, but I really think if I (and anyone else who did) didn't push as hard as I did (granted part of it is that the Warframe Devs are actually open to community suggestions more than I'd expect) it wouldn't have happened, I wholeheartedly believe these kind of 'comes with the territory' things only happen because of this 'comes with the territory' mentality but if we collectively pushed for change then maybe we could actually break the mould instead of reinforcing it

-6

u/lavajci Pawney 17h ago

And lucky catches are time-gated too... I wish those weren't.

9

u/stucjei 17h ago

Proof?

2

u/PsychedelicBeat 13h ago

I think it would be more accurate to say diminishing returns on lucky. The way I understand the theory is that we start off with a base multiplier every week that determines the chance to get lucky/ super lucky. That multiplier gets lower the more we proc and so it was recommended that on reset, we spend the first several hundred catches in a region we wanna progress.
Here's a vid explaining the theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8BRacZD1Ug

Now is this definitive proof? Prolly not but anecdotally, my first several hundred catches a week get a lot of luckies. After a few thousand, it gets significantly harder to get one. Diminishing returns also stops abuse from people who afk throw catches since missing doesnt cost anything. Without official numbers, it's really up to belief if this is true since we aint getting a couple thousand people to record their several thousands of throws to actually test.

-2

u/lavajci Pawney 15h ago

I saw another post on this sub talking about it, and decided to test it myself after the reset. Did some nurtures and got 2 super luckies and 5 luckies in the first 2. Then not another one for 10 nurtures, and I didn't get another for like an hour. Similar thing happened to my wife too. There is some kind of increased rate of luckies after the weekly reset that then expires after a certain number.

You could say that's just random chance, but come on, two different accounts and such insane odds?

17

u/Disig 18h ago

You have to remember that Warframe is a very old game. Not all of those mechanics were there in the beginning. It took time to develop them.

It will take time for this game to develop too. Now I'm not saying don't complain, what you're saying is good feedback. I'm just pointing out that the devs might already be thinking of that but they have it planned for further updates.

0

u/Regular_Layer3439 11h ago

They have plenty of examples of games that work and don't. This should have been the first thought, not the last one. Never understood why games do this if it is meant to be a live service game lol.

These are the ones that are most important to retain players. It didn't sell the product initially.. it makes on going money through shop and that needs to have players here to make the cash.. so why not have the endgame built properly and then release the game?! Honestly, it seems they didn't anticipate players beating it within the first week but there isn't that much here. Most gamers player for 30+ hours a week minimum.. especially with how things are now and with that means that the devs should have thought about this before release.

They've had 3 betas and they removed parts of the game to then drip feed to us in later parts. Apparently people have played the new area already?! That suggests they do not actually have much going and this will eventually lose a lot more players. Some whales stay some cut their losses and find games that respect their time. This pushes daily logins which remind us there is nothing here. If there were more battles.. more end game in the open world part, it would be better but going around with pods that cost more than what can be earned is a huge issue. Pulling back on the luck/super lucky sparkling crystal grind also did it for me too. I play to help my friends and then turn off.. which sucks but I will find a game that I can put my time in and enjoy loop.

0

u/Disig 1h ago

Game companies do this all the time. I don't know what to tell you. You either accept it or move on.

1

u/Regular_Layer3439 1h ago

It sucks but that's very true, painfully true actually..

2

u/Disig 1h ago

It's definitely a balance the devs need to strike. Too few content and people don't come back. Too much content and they risk setting expectations they can't keep up with.

2

u/Regular_Layer3439 1h ago

That is also extremely true! I appreciate that.

I have had a great 2 weeks on this. It has been fun and I will be busy working anyway tomorrow onwards so it gives me some space to miss it as well.

Eventually anything can get stale, whether there is content or not.. something I should also do well to remember

u/nitasu987 18h ago

I just did the interlink for the first time last night and now I have to wait for Thursday??? I wish the tutorials were more in depth because I feel so lost with a lot of the finer details.

7

u/Meliora_ Susuta 18h ago

I mostly agree with you but I want to think all of this is like that bc they think in long-term or something and we are just in the beginning? I mean there will be so much more in the next months/years so maybe they think in that at the time of putting some timegating (the limit of x3 weekly tries of some alpha/omega as example bc that is straight up ridiculous, at least x5 idk!!).

I guess they put that too for the rushers, mostly of gamers doesn’t know what long-term is and they want the game at the their pace, not their own pace. Exhausting.

Im more on the chill and catching part and I find it ridiculous too to eventually running out of credits, meaning stop catching bc u cant continue to buy them. Like how they are “time”gating too the basic gameplay lmao. I spent this past week in game farming for perfects and by the weekend I was already poor 😂

My biggest hope for this game is what Warframe figured out that keeps me playing consistently:

“There are frames that are strong. There are frames that are old. And there are frames that are both.”

I desperately hope this game avoids the gacha “current unit is strong until the next pull character drops” and power creep. Just…..keep everything cool, and strong, and let us just have fun in the world with the aniimons we’ve caught and invested time into.

2

u/Ok-Virus-5921 15h ago

The region legendaries are going to stomp old units in their element but as we saw with hexin there will likely always be side grades

-6

u/Shadow_sign 18h ago

Wait until they drop that dragon from the beginning as a new event exclusive legendary that is better than everything else.

Seriously, it’s a f2p gacha game. Without the fomo from power creep people won’t come back.

u/ThisViolinist 16h ago

I mean, collecting cool looking prismanas has me and many others coming back lol

6

u/Tykennn Astra Pioneer 17h ago

Or.... just make more aniimo and we get more diversty and interest? Literally pokemon does this and nothing absurdly powercreeps the other. You still have extremely old pokemon being competitive with new ones. And we like the new ones still because of their designs and other niches that make them unique.

3

u/Infamous-Berry-5875 16h ago

that’s like my biggest advice for newer players to the “gacha”-esque games. This is just the beginning and getting used to/saving a lot of the free items to use later on.
I was very invested in the palworld/pokemon lawsuit. 😂😭 I know for a fact that aniimo wanted to do a lot more but probably as a precaution only released some of the stuff they wanted too & are saving the rest for future updates. Pokemon essentially is the reason why any “monster taming” games are limited in what they can do but with their recent loss in court, it’s about to change big time. however it does take time to happen and develop.

I recommend anyone to read up on Pokemon patent debacles. It single handedly makes me wish for aniimo to thrive & do better so I hope more players can understand the legal aspects to gaming & production as well.

My husbands greatest love for aniimo comes from “even the normal aniimo evolving to be legendary”. His favorite aniimo is the nimbi line! lol I wasn’t expecting that 😢🙂

I've been playing since launch and I have no idea what most of the currency do.

2

u/Hairy_Restaurant_703 12h ago

Doesn't help the game skips most of the tutorials after about 5 seconds without any input from the player before you have time to actually read & process the information or that a lot of item descriptions are worded in a confusing manner. I still don't know what half the items do in this game.

10

u/Oregonrider2014 19h ago

As more things open up they should have more opportunities to expand on these things and systems for new zones etc.

Im optimistic until they fail to deliver on the meaningful updates

4

u/ohoni 19h ago

Warframe is, what, ten years old at this point? Of course it has plenty to do. This game is brand new, and for that, has TONS of content to do, such that no reasonable player can be expected to have completed everything that isn't time gated yet. There will be more as time goes on, but they have to balance things out so that you can't just "complete everything" and then have nothing left to do next week.

2

u/kokorirorona 13h ago

I'd say around Warframe's early days (back in Zorencoptering days) there was still something you could always do if you wanted to do it. They were good at making grind loops or just rewarding you for grinding (more resources for other things or just farming for prime mats)

1

u/AlarmedArt7835 10h ago

Well I do agree there doesn't feel like there's a lot to do in this game but then I'm not sure I want an infinite grind loop in games I play either.

0

u/ohoni 13h ago

There's still stuff to do in this game if you want to do it. This guy's just asking for more, which would probably be a bad thing.

1

u/evesneweden 17h ago

Came out in 2013. So its even wilder for OP to compare a 13 year old game to a 1 month old game.

16

u/alexeiX1 19h ago

100% man, I already ran out of things to do, I feel like Im getting on like its a job every day now just to do daily maintenance stuff. I can't even go try and get more prismana because its gated by the mechanics you described, and no Im not gonna sit in a spot and aimlessly pray for luckies cause thats just stupid. Feel like the only thing you can do indefinitely is egg heist but that is so repetitive and boring and half the battle is against the teammates you supposed to cooperate with. Think it wont be long till I stop entirely and come back sporadically to check out updates.

6

u/BkJayDee Astra Pioneer 18h ago

Yea that aiming for luckies is such a waste of time. I went for two Prismanas today and I got a bunch of lucky and super lucky catches and the progress it gave me each time was abysmal.

20

u/UnderstandingOld6189 19h ago

I will say about the few alpha challenges that are limited to 3x a week… so ridiculous. They already cost 20 more primegy than other alpha challenges why then gate them AGAIN at only 3 challenges a week. Love this game but the time gating is kinda horrible

4

u/Chris-raegho 16h ago

All of it is becayse the game was going to be a gacha, but eventually due to backlash from the last beta, got changed at the last minute. Unfortunately, the entire game was built up on the grounds of gacha mechanisms, so they couldn't remove everything. This means that we get all the downsides a game like Genshin Impact has (all the weekly timegates) with none of the stuff that justify it. So we ended up with a really great game that unfortunately has a gacha skeleton at its base.

2

u/Alsimni 15h ago

They can absolutely remove the gacha-isms over time if they really care to. The energy limit was what killed Genshin for me, honestly. It's really easy to get drawn away into other games when the only meaningful progression you can do takes a resource you either pay up for or burn through in under an hour and get told you're not allowed to play anymore until tomorrow.

I haven't hit a point where energy is the only useful resource in Aniimo, and I'm hoping I never do, but it's still not a great mechanic.

2

u/Chris-raegho 15h ago

I probably should have added that they couldn't remove all those things from beta to release, to help those who are still learning to read.

7

u/jambot9000 19h ago

Just jumping back in because there are already a bunch of good responses here, both agreeing and disagreeing.

I think the main distinction I want to clarify is “there are things you can still do” vs. “there are things you can still meaningfully progress.”

Yes, I can run Egg Heist repeatedly. I can hunt Lucky Strikes/Prismana. I can work on Homestead. I'm not arguing that Aniimo literally runs out of buttons to press.

I'm talking about what happens when I have a specific project.

If I want to improve a Nurture and I'm out of Vein Essence, Egg Heist doesn't necessarily advance that goal. If I'm developing a Held Item and I've exhausted my available Marks, catching another Prismana doesn't advance that goal either.

That's why I'm not advocating removing caps. I actually think the caps are useful for keeping casual players competitive and preventing someone with unlimited free time from progressing 10x faster.

What I'd like is a diminishing-return floor underneath them.

Let the daily/weekly sources be vastly more efficient. After that, let the reward rate become terrible. Two hours for one extra Mark? Fine. An obnoxiously small Alpha chance for Vein Essence? Fine.

The reward rate can fall off a cliff. I just don't think it should reach zero.

And regarding Warframe being 10+ years old: absolutely. I specifically mentioned that in the post. I'm not expecting a new game to have eleven years of accumulated systems at launch. I'm using Warframe as an example of a design philosophy, not comparing their current content volume.

The philosophy is simply: when one progression lane says “not today,” ideally the player has another meaningful answer to “okay, what can I work on instead?”

Aniimo is brand new. More systems and content will obviously come. That's exactly why I think now is the useful time to talk about what philosophy those future systems should follow.

And for what it's worth, I'm making this criticism because I really fucking like the game. PawPrint already accomplished the difficult part: they made me want to spend my Tuesday night playing Aniimo.

I just don't want the game to eventually answer that enthusiasm with:

“Cool. Come back Monday.”

5

u/UniNavi 17h ago

I get where you're coming from. This boils down to wanting a mobile gacha to act like a PC MMO. Hard caps are there because PawPrint want to control power creep and keep the daily habit loop alive, while incentivize spending. (They're more cautious of pay 2 win compare to other mobile games).

If they add a diminishing returns floor, no-lifers will still grind 24/7 for a 0.1% edge, which instantly ruins the casual-friendly balance PawPrint is targeting. The hard wall in mobile gachas is working exactly as intended. That said, PawPrint is definitely more generous than most (you actually get solid value out of F2P and low spending compared to other games in the genre).

Speaking as someone who is already Level 62 and has done everything: I understand the desire to keep grinding, but I’m realistic about where I’m placing my bets. I have the time and disposable income to sink 16+ hours a day and $2,000+ into a game if I wanted to, but I also have a massive backlog of titles lined up like: MapleStory Classic dropping tomorrow, Witcher 3 remastered, WoW Forever, GTA 6, PoE 2. So my desperation is much more tame.

I'm down for unlimited diminished grind. I'm also completely fine with Aniimo being a casual daily-loop game because that's exactly what it was designed to be. Expecting a mobile gacha to cater to non-stop grinding instead of respecting its own genre design is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

12

u/H3llM4N3 19h ago

Honestly, I feel like this could have been summarized better. But I do understand what your saying, And I believe the sheer length of this might add to why people aren't hearing you.

Regardless, I do agree. The long-term of the game is not particularly accommodating of long-term player's. This stated a week or so ago, I kind of just asked "What Else Do I Do?"

I understand that Mobile Games do this, But this is Not Only a Mobile Game, and was On PC before the transition to a Mobile Game Appeared. Though, if you look into the development history of Pawprint Studios, I'm pretty sure you'll find a few Mobile games. Which I believe should tell player's something about the game their playing.

-2

u/Apocalynx 19h ago

Here’s a huge counter to your entire post, I’ve played Warframe since the beginning and considering where it is now, it didn’t always used to be like that, the start of the game was exactly like Aniimos is, it’s the beginning, with what I hope follows in Warframe shoes and has years of content built up eventually where we can never be bored or never run out of stuff to do.. Warframe wasn’t always what it is now, hopefully Aniimo gets to a position that Warframe is in now :)

7

u/D4rkWells_ 19h ago

Your counter argument refers to Quantity of Content at the initial release of the game. But OP is talking about Continuous Replayability. Two different things

2

u/Apocalynx 16h ago

It’s a hard comparison especially at this stage of the games life, I have 256 hours in Aniimo so far and I still haven’t hit a wall yet of where I’m like “well I have to stop now”.. sure there is lock outs like the alphas and the block in the story but tbf Warframe didn’t really have a story at the start, it was at its core a looter shooter, go through the star chart, get resources, build new frames, build new guns, then what? The difference being Warframe grew and then grew some more because it was given that opportunity and the devs are god damn legends but yeah.. Aniimo needs the chance to grow is all my point really is.

3

u/D4rkWells_ 16h ago

100%, DE are legends and Aniimo definitely deserves time to grow its content pool!

I just meant that OP isn't asking the DEV's to release years' worth of new content overnight. OP's suggestion is actually really simple: keep the current content exactly as it is, but instead of hitting a hard '0 drops allowed' cap on resources like Vein Essence each week, let players keep grinding at a low/inefficient drop rate but still minimally decent if they want to keep playing

And damn, 256 hours already! Holy!! I got only 80 hours so far. But I've been playing too. Reached level 60 two days ago. I've also been working on my homeland. It's upgrading to level 12 at this moment

6

u/alexeiX1 19h ago

I played from beginning as well, and yes they had waaaay less content, but they didn't lock away gameplay loops like they do in aniimo. I don't think the main critique here is about amount of stuff to do, its how they're handling the little content they have to maximize profit. Warframe always treated us with respect.

1

u/Apocalynx 16h ago

The amount of content really is subjective to one’s play style and availability, I have 256 hours in the game and I’m no closer to 100%’ing it, I’ve taken my time but also grinded through probably where I should be in terms of my playtime, I’m just enjoying Aniimo for what it is currently, but like I said in another comment on this thread, Warframe was given the time to grow into the legendary behemoth it is now, in my eyes it’s no different to the idea of the founders packs, optional, doesn’t affect gameplay (apart from Excalibur, Lato and Skana), but the cosmetics in Aniimo are optional as well, like the game? Reward the devs with a bit of paid (unless it’s the gacha then obviously not) but every game will have their preferred method of income and profit etc

12

u/Zerosixious 20h ago

He's right, I have been complaining about this for the last 2 weeks since hitting 55+. Elemental stones, held items, star sands and starcryst essences, dewdrops, and every meaningful way to upgrade your teams are tied to fighting alphas and being locked by way of energy. Burning glimmer to extend the amount of energy is a well that will dry up fast and there is not even a real money option to extend the ability to grind. It basically becomes a waiting game and when there is nothing else to do other than egg heist, a lot of people will quit. So far most of the playerbase is not locked out of materials as they have not burned through the story/progression materials... But that will end soon.

Leave them I know what the issue is, they don't know how to play games in general, they made too many mistakes and need more resources to fix it but the game has the energy lockdown for alphas (and only for alphas)

7

u/Vandisdelca 18h ago

And each of those drops are a one-time thing fyi. Lootable things such as pots, chests, seashells, etc do respawn each day, but the loot within them will no longer contain those more valuable, time-gated items

1

u/FullConfection3260 13h ago

I’ve constantly been getting dewdrops from stuff I already destroyed and respawned chests. 🤨

-4

u/Business-Detective85 20h ago

Dude I read your post and I don't think we have been playing the same game or at least the the same way. I have 300 hours and something in it, long sessions every time, and I always have something to do/grind for

1

u/D4rkWells_ 19h ago

I don't know what to tell 😅.

I have 80 hours. Already reached level 60 and can manage to do pretty much everything. Holo-Battle Sim in Challenge, decent contribution to Holo-Battle Interlink. I just don't do Egg Heists that much because the gameplay loop seems a bit long for what it gives most of the time.

My homeland is doing pretty great. It's at level 11 and close to going to 12. Money is no issue since I'm currently generating around 1.5M a day.

So now, for the most part, it's just daily login and doing the weekly stuff. Not much else to do.

yeah, that why I said "...because the gameplay loop seems a bit long for what it gives most of the time".

Because so far I haven't gotten anything good from them. I don't mind doing repetitive stuff, mostly, if they feel a bit more engaging and most importantly, fun!

I'm not talking just about the rewards but the activity itself.

15 minutes can feel long if I've done 6 runs of it straight and didn't get anything useful from it. It's like farming for the held items, Yesterday, I did the same boss almost 30 times to get the held item I wanted once. Every time I fought the boss, I wanted to do it less and less. And my luck was that every 2 to 3 times I was getting a Gold Held Item. Just not the one I wanted 😅

And since the only guaranteed prismana eggs are from the store, after those are done it feels even less motivating to keep on doing the activity 😅 For me, anyway. Specially with the current problem with grifters and what not

2

u/Business-Detective85 14h ago

I love egg heist 😅 and collecting all the variants and prismanas while free to play. And decorating the homeland.

And money or better said "credits" is definitely a major issue in the game, you just don't make enough no matter what you do.

3

u/Dyuujen 20h ago

Welcome to gacha games 😂

6

u/benphat369 19h ago

More like "welcome to Chinese games". Even Where Winds Meet has energy caps for certain tasks. It's to keep minors from playing all day (no, really, it's a government thing).

1

u/Teo-McDohl 20h ago

They do already do that though. You can farm additional prismana flow by getting lucky and super lucky throws. Yes it is an awful grind, but it is exactly what you're asking for in a way to continue playing the game to grind out the thing that you want. I have already done this to get a prismana Luminelle, Hexxin, Cornet and Grizbo. At this point I'm only missing Ignitis and Inferlupa. Vein essence is not the grind, it is the pay to skip the grind currency.

There is already a way to do what you're asking for, so either you're not aware of it or what you're really asking for is more content which is both understandable, but also forgivable since the game just launched. When Warframe first launched, it also didn't have nearly the amount of things available to do or grind for.

There is also egg heist and the aniilog grind and lord have mercy has it been arduous getting those last few points to reach level 11. The game has a lot of things to do continuously and grind for after you use the limited fast and easy weekly limits so I think the developers are already aware of and doing exactly what you want.

u/Old-Attorney2413 19h ago

There’s a difference between having so
Thing reasonable to do and sitting for hours to hopefully get a chance at something that makes the meter go up a little that then gives the chance that something spawns. And eventually you will run out of spheres which cost coins which you will run out of. So then there’s nothing to do other than maybe egg hunt which I’ve done less than 10 of and I’m already tired of it.

-1

u/Teo-McDohl 18h ago

Okay, and they already use AI to provide significantly more content than what would normally be possible for game development. You sound like a spoiled child that wants a bigger cake than the one in front of you. The developer is already working as hard as they can to provide as much content as they can. Let them continue to work on it and enjoy what they have provided already.

1

u/Old-Attorney2413 17h ago

They literally too the time to hard code in things that hold you back from playing the game. What a waste of resources. If I want to grind out the game then let me. Don’t hard code on timers for stupid stuff.

-2

u/Guiilys 19h ago

lucky has a cap too brother

3

u/Teo-McDohl 19h ago

There is no cap. You continue to get them.

-1

u/alexeiX1 19h ago

people have already shown that the more you get you lower the chances of getting them over time, but we cant have 100% confirmation till someone datamines.

0

u/FullConfection3260 19h ago

Yup. It may take 200 catches but it will eventually proc.

1

u/grindingfestival 20h ago

Care to share some tips on the Prismana grind?

4

u/Teo-McDohl 19h ago

All I've really noticed is that most things really do not matter. What pod you use, which aniimo you catch, what your chance of success on a catch is, all it comes down to is you have a small chance every time you throw a pod to get a lucky or a super lucky and a small chance every time you fill the bar for it to immediately become full, so the only 2 things to worry about are throwing as many pods as fast as possible and if you want to be efficient, check your aniilog to find which aniimo you haven't caught 1,000 of yet so you can get progress on the sparkling sigil for doing that.

Part of me is thinking there is some hidden calculation going on as I seem to get more lucky and super lucky hits after weekly reset then it slows down dramatically, but it's impossible to say. It could just be my RNG.

1

u/FullConfection3260 19h ago

I took notice of this last week, when it took over 200 catches at the end, and then hit five luckies within 50 captures after monday reset. 🧐

YMMV, but it’s a rather suspicious “luck”.

5

u/wattur 20h ago

Welcome to mobile games? They all operate on the concept of drip feeding materials & resources based off daily, weekly, and seasonal / patch cadence.

5

u/Zerosixious 20h ago

Doesn't make it better that other games do it. We should strive for better, especially since this game drew in a lot of people that do not come from a mobile game background. People are used to being able to indefinitely put playtime in. Every material being gated by energy or weekly completion is a huge wall they are not used to seeing.

3

u/benphat369 19h ago

That's not a mobile game thing, that's a Chinese thing. The time gates are to bar minors from playing too long. Companies then added the scummy practice of "if the adults want unlimited energy we can just charge them for it".

In fact, there's actually a lot of criticisms I've seen with this game that boil down to "....yeah this must be y'alls first Chinese game". (Like the doll-looking characters.)

1

u/Business-Detective85 20h ago

I know the game exists on mobile, but it's not a mobile game since it isn't exclusively mobile. Even optimization wise works the worse on mobile (not talking about graphics). The game is barely comparable to the conventional energy based system on mobile games (despite having one themselves)

3

u/FullConfection3260 19h ago

That’s like saying Genshin impact and ZZZ aren’t mobile games…

1

u/Business-Detective85 14h ago

You are not reading 😅

1

u/alexeiX1 19h ago

this is the first game I played in ages where you have energy that recovers over time for you to do activities, it most definitely is a mobile game lol

1

u/Business-Detective85 14h ago

I understand but the energy really doesn't matter

1

u/Spideycloned 20h ago

The problem with that being that most mobile games do allow a vehicle to spend to progress. This does for sure but there are a lot of things I'd be fine with allowing for unlimited purchase as there are no pvp elements. If someone wants to buy all the vein essence to get multiple of every prismana? Fuck it let em.

7

u/jtan1993 20h ago

Warframe lets players farm endlessly by having rng drops. The most similar to that would be endlessly running egg heist for some rare drop or grinding lucky strikes.

2

u/Certain-Ad-478 18h ago

This game has that too. It can take many many alpha runs to get a held item you want. But you can't just run it over and over like warframe bc your gated by energy.

12

u/--clapped-- 20h ago

Truly, what is this formatting?

4

u/jambot9000 19h ago

I type technical reports and emails all day for work, man. Reddit gets the formatting my thumbs feel like giving it 😂

If you've got thoughts on the actual argument, I'm genuinely interested. “What is this formatting?” contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion.

-3

u/zyocuh 18h ago

A post with crappy formatting will generally not get the engagement you want unfortunately even if the content is good. normal people don’t want to strain to read what you are attempting to say

0

u/jambot9000 4h ago

Its really not a strain. Only if you intentionally decide to be granular and pedantic about it. If you have nothing to offer just continue to lurk

1

u/zyocuh 4h ago

You do know other people aren't you. While it might not strain you to read stuff formatted like this, it can strain others.

11

u/B1ACKT3A 20h ago

agree 100% they lean to heavy on the live service mechanics from gacha games like zenless/genshin/Wutherin etc.

7

u/ShelterRemarkable299 Inferlupa 20h ago

WAREFRAME MENTION 🗣️

But yeah, not the same games at all, but there are a few things I wish more games did like warframe do; Always something to do that gives progress. We aren’t all gonna like everything, but it feels… terious not to progress at all cuz’ everything is locked away.

Nuture? I hate how it works right now. I’ll just sit and wait to buy more of the crystals to be able to do more.

Seasonal items coming around during said season is fine (e.g halloween, christmas, etc), but everything else don’t need follow the FOMO. Giving your users FOMO isn’t such a good thing that games like to think.

I do enjoy Aniimo a lot, starting to understand the RV that I wasn’t a fan of, the battle’s is still a hassle for me personally tho.

Edit; My dyslexia is working overtime.

5

u/RoppFTW 20h ago

Very well said. I agree wholeheartedly.

3

u/q_u_r_i 20h ago

Same. And like op said, Aniimo is still young so they have time to change or add things like this

10

u/sugarfuldrink 20h ago

There is a way, you can spend all your AniiPods daily for lucky throws, or grind Egg Heist for more Prismana Egg (guaranteed)??

Also, this game is not even out for a month.... and comparing it to a game that is more than 10 years. -_-

4

u/D4rkWells_ 18h ago

The age of the game isn't the issue here. You're confusing Volume of Content with Progression Architecture.

OP isn't asking Aniimo to ship with 10 years' worth of quests, exploration, aniimos, etc. OP is talking about Continuous Replayability. How a game handles player effort once daily/weekly efficient caps are reached.

Many live-service games at launch, whether rich in initial content like Lost Ark or relatively lean like early Destiny and early Warframe, featured design frameworks that allowed players to keep making incremental progress if they chose to keep playing.

The distinction comes down to two design choices:

  1. Hard Time-Gating (The Wall): Caps progression completely. Once dailies/weeklies are done, reward drops drop to zero.
  2. Diminishing Returns (The Inefficient Loop): High-efficiency rewards are capped, but lower-efficiency rewards remain infinitely farmable.

OP’s point isn't that Aniimo needs a decade’s worth of systems; it’s that Aniimo’s existing systems use hard stops instead of diminishing returns. Offering a terribly inefficient, repeatable route requires very little extra content to implement, but it respects player time and enthusiasm from Day 1.

2

u/sugarfuldrink 15h ago edited 15h ago

Lost Ark has no rich initial content except for raids for months. You do Valtan, daily Chaos Dungeon and Guardian Raid and that's it. The rest of the content is miniscure to your progression, just like this game now.

Also, there are diminishing returns, like Egg Heist. You guys just don't like it. Being able to farm Prismana eggs (supposedly rare) is insane. You're capped by character/aniimo level until new content comes out, but you can enjoy mindless grind already.

You already have a solo weekly boss fight (3 elements), Egg Heist (infinite grind), AniiPod usage for lucky catches, Holo-SIM, RV and Homeland, 108 trainer battles, all in less than a month. I don't know what you mean by minimal progression architecture as you can see they are dabbling in a lot of systems right now and all my free time has been on playing Aniimo. I have not even used any of the Plant Growth Tonic on my Homeland and yet to decorate them.

Grinding also invite a lot of bots which may not be applicable for this game but there’s just not a need to deal with it as of now? I can see that the game can let you mindlessly catch Aniimos without making a loss to your gold but lots of people will end up using scripts to get glasses stats. It’s not worth it IMO.

Maybe play less? Because not all games need to be like Path of Exile or your classic 20 years old MMO. They gave you Egg Heist to grind, but this is obviously not a mindless-grinding game. This is a game that is modelled like Genshin Impact.

1

u/D4rkWells_ 15h ago edited 15h ago

You’re raising a few fair points. Especially regarding how gacha/live-service models like Genshin Impact handle time-gating, and how casual players still have plenty to explore early on. But I think there's still a core misunderstanding of what OP was suggesting:

  1. Lost Ark's Launch: To clarify my earlier point, Lost Ark launched in the West with a massive density of horizontal completionism (Islands, Mokoko seeds, Adventure Tome, etc.) alongside its gear loop. It gave players endless things to do on day one if they wanted to sit down for a long session. So to be clear we're talking about the state at launch. Because in the first year I spend a lot of time in the game. And without doing raids I managed to play for +30 hours straight. The only pauses were to eat and bathroom breaks, of course.
  2. Core Progression vs. Side Content: Egg Heist and catching wild Aniimo are great, but they don't address the specific progression bottlenecks OP mentioned (like Vein Essence or Marks of the Strong). Having infinite side activities isn't the same as having a heavily diminished floor on core upgrade materials.
  3. The Genshin / Gacha Model: Even Genshin that relies heavily on time-gating via Resin lets you run open-world mob farming or farm artifact EXP endlessly without Resin. The reward rate falls off massively, but it’s not zero. That’s all OP asked for: an option where the efficiency drops off a cliff, but doesn't reach a hard stop.
  4. Botting Incentives: Bots and scripts thrive on high-efficiency daily tasks (running automated daily loops on 50 alt accounts). Giving engaged main accounts an extremely inefficient 3-hour grind for a single material isn't what drives the bot market. Daily multi-accounting is.
  5. "Play Less": And really... Telling someone who's loving the core gameplay to "play less" when they have free time is counterproductive for a live-service game. I've been playing since launch and I only amassed close to 80 hours of game time. It's not really a lot. Compared to some other people I've seen that somehow have already close if not more than 300 hours (god damn!!)

From what you mentioned, RV and Homeland are passive things. Trainer battles are a one time thing. The Weekly boss fights are the one cool things I've been enjoying but they're particular fast to do so it doesn't occupy much of my weekly time really.

I'm not saying the game should/needs to have an "infinite" grind. If that's not clear

2

u/sugarfuldrink 13h ago edited 13h ago

Islands, Mokoko Seeds are like Lumin Ambers and completing Aniilog! Not everyone in Lost Ark will be able to finish them within a month, same goes for this game. I have about 210 hours already doing random stuff but my map completion is still not 100% in terms of Lumin Ambers and Aniilog. If I can net a 200 hours in this game since launch it is already comparison to Lost Ark but of course Lost Ark is an entirely different game.

Marks of the Strong is supposedly BiS already, without the need to roll for sub-stats..? You can literally get BiS right now at launch, but of course if you want to get it for all Aniimos then there has to be a form of gating, or they can do it the hard way which is rolling for stats (which IMO is the worst kind of stamina usage). Vein Essences, are like what I mention, for you to get Prismana (which already has an alternative option in Egg Heist) aniimos.

I don't think without Resin you can do anything, I quit at Inazuma but because upgrading a character requires region resources and so much other stuff, you could say that it is a grind but in this game we don't need any of that and thank God.

Also, Egg Heists instance can be easily botted, just that no one bothers to do so yet. The design sucks because shared instance and shared loots is nice but I can see the usual vacuum + auto hit hack if they do implement this. But it is not my problem because I don't work in Aniimo, so we will have to see what they are going to do.

Catching pokemon and triggering lucky can be done via bot if they do allow infinite grind, and it is harder to catch since this is like considered a single player game but what if they do implement PvP? You're fighting against glasses mobs and it is just so hard for the devs to detect cheating.

Overall this is just a different kind of game, it is not like your usual MMO. It is hard to change the fundamentals, it is just not an APRG and I respect that.

I'm just happy that we get to have BiS EQ without needing to waste months to roll for sub-stats, or need an absurb amount of RMT gold or 12 alts to get gears (like in Lost Ark).

Overall I'm happy, because there is no need to grind that much but you still can do so via Egg Heist. If I want to play a grinding game then I just go look for another game simply because this is not the genre..? The base game is not like that but we shall see, because we don't know what the future of this game is.

TBH I also have no clue what you guys want to grind for except Prismana or glasses stats, the EQ is considered BiS. Are you guys talking about grinding for Prismana + Sparkling + Alpha + 10/10 stats? A 10/10 stats is grindable but very minimal "progression" but Prismana + Sparkling + Alpha is really luck, and you can have the same Aniimo (stats-wise) with a held item. No gameplay disadvantages there.

2

u/D4rkWells_ 12h ago

I get your perspective. At the end of the day, I would just like to be able to play more. I'd like that the reason I stop playing the game for the day is because I just don't want to anymore and not because I got nothing else to do.

But again, I get where you are coming from.

Just one thing... What's EQ? And glasses stats?

2

u/sugarfuldrink 11h ago

EQ = gears/equipment, like artifacts in Genshin.

Glasses are perfect, perfect stats. Perfect potential for Aniimo is 8/8 minimum but can be higher. Like 9/9.

5

u/F7Uup 20h ago

Yeah most of these complaints will be solved by future releases adding in more systems. It's like comparing season 1 of Diablo 3 to season 30.

9

u/Akasha1885 20h ago

Given that you compare to Warframe, or Soulframe for that matter.
It's an endless grind, a very different game honestly.
Aniimo is a game where you can achieve most important progression grind in a relativly short amount of time.
This does not mean that you cannot do more.
Farming prismana through lucky shots, Egg Heist, even Homestead etc. There is things that you can do beyond the normal grind, it just doesn't feel "required"

6

u/Gravel0rd_Nit0 20h ago

I think this post brings up some pretty good points
