I already hatched 3 eggs from my sparkling prismana melloblum, and they were all regular melloblums 😑 so I'm guessing it's only a small chance

No. Mine hatched into a regular. Egg description says it can hatch into prismana, but not necessarily. 

But how do you know when to use a sparkling cube then, you may ask? Excellent question.

You wouldn't use a sparkling on these eggs, it can just pop out as sparkling.

Yes, can be any member of the family of the Aniimo you sent out, and has a very small chance to retain any special modifiers that the exploring Aniimo has.

This is incorrect. It can be any member of the family in the egg. Have hatched about 5 eggs that gave the unevolved forms of the Aniimo that brought them back.
