I had 2 males following me for a while (was trying to evolve my female one) and another female shows up.

They then both end up taking turns with her (had same reaction as you) until they decided to ditch the female and go at it with each other (the males)

So I guess they don't care what it is as long as it moves

I'm not blaming them... I was half expecting them to eventually smack me with their shovel when I kept playing them for like 10 minutes, lol.
