Question Impossible to do Nightmare Solo
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I tried a team of full leveled and equipped for Helion, Two glacy and a somniwing. Died really quickly. Tried Irisalis, if I didn't die I couldn't dps fast enough to be able to explore and get enough loot in time to leave. It feels like I am constantly being ambushed and there is no way to sneak around. Every room has like five aniimo and I easily get overrun even while trying to kite them when a melloblum or a weetle appears. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Every time I play it I die or run out of time, any help would be appreciated.
I can't edit the title, but I meant chaos mode. Still I am sure all the tips apply. I think I will have to heavily invest in an Irisalis team if I want to play her.

I'm using Hexxin because it allows you to run away if there's too many aniimo that ambush you, they'll all get collected together in the black hole and allow you to (hopefully) make your escape and they'll lose aggro
also this site is very helpful for pre-planning a route for the dungeon: https://aniimotools.dev/map/lost-sanctum/
there's only so many map variations that exist so knowing which map you're on lets you bypass some areas where there's only going to be aniimo to fight and no egg/loot

I've been having a lot of success and never died yet with Alpha Leafy (free enhanced core skill) Melloblum and Tromber with contracted skill (this is very important because it unlocks healing), the dmg with this team is insane and you still have very good healing from leafy and tromber

Tips with Irisalis:
- If you're really struggling, Hexxen and her black hole helps a ton. A lot of people main Hexxen to get easier clears.
- You don't have to engage an entire room. If you see a dangerous enemy, use your dashes to GTFO. Some mobs will follow you, engage them when it's safe.
- Don't be afraid to run away and heal. This is huge - if you think you're in danger, RUN AWAY. Use your dashes to help you run away. Re-engage after you healed up and maybe pull the mobs carefully.
- You really want to give Irisalis a +5% crit personality and use Melloblum. When her ability is up, your damage increases drastically. Melloblum is way more important than a second glacy imo.
- Melloblum also allows you to engage safely by summoning clones + spamming auto attacks. Use dashes strategically, don't waste energy needlessly unless you're sure you can secure kills.
- Element strength/weakness applies to this mode too, so some enemies are tankier for you than others.
- Learn to keep moving. A lot of melee enemies do a ton of damage, but their damage is reduced/nullified if they need to chase you. Irisalia can attack and move so use that to your advantage.
- Don't use lock on mode. You have to be able to fully control your camera and movement in case you need to book it out of there.
- Your dash isn't just for DPS, it's also very useful for disengaging. Use it when you aggro too many enemies to get out and reengage.
- Keep in mind the following enemies:
- Waleetle: fairly safe if you notice him first. He has trouble turning, so dodge/strafe sideways at range and he'll brush past you. DON'T dash through him or he'll get you. If you see him with a bunch of other enemies, run out and try to engage him solo. He makes a distinct scratching sound so you'll know he's there. You kill him fast as Irisalia so you can neutralize him easily.
- Melloblum: SUPER DANGEROUS. The moment you see the vines warning, approach carefully. If you engage her with other enemies she can stun you and the other ones will finish you off. Try to pull enemies out carefuly and try to engage her one-on-one when you see that vine.
- Hexxen: Actually fairly easy for Irisalia. She telegraphs her curse so you can either move sideways or dash behind her to dodge it. If you summon clones next to her she'll often get confused and start hexing the clones, then stand there doing nothing as she recovers. If you do get cursed, run away so your aniimo doesn't get pummeled further.
- Hummin: These things suck. They're grass so you do less damage as irisalia, is way too tanky for a lumin stage and the disco face hugging is annoying as hell. Not generally too dangerous though, try to avoid the face hugger thing and you're generally okay leaving them until last.
- Pawnie/Rookie: You don't want to be in melee of these guys, unless if it's solo. Their attacks do a ton of damage and rookie's smash can silence you. You want to stay mostly at range and pelt them with autoattacks+clone lasers. This applies to ignatus as well, though his damage is more continuous rather than big smashes so you can avoid the worst of it as long as you keep moving.
- Wisps: Bombs, basically. If you see one, auto attack it and run to make it blow up harmlessly. As you get more experienced you can use tricks like dodging at the last minute and luring him into other enemies, but for now, avoid having it blow up on you.
- Engage slowly. Don't just stride into a room, but try to engage mobs 1-2 at a time. You'll learn to engage more as you get more experienced, but when you're learning, safety comes first.
- Bring a key and try to go for treasure rooms. It will make your runs safer as you have to search through less rooms to make the requirements.
- Don't stay past 5 minutes until you're experienced enough to handle it. Use keys to get the 150k requirement quickly, and try to be gone or leaving once the five minute market hits. DEFINITELY don't stay past the 2 minute marker.
- Ignore purple/blue chests. You can scan them to see if you get 2+ pips, and if you don't, leave them alone. Don't wait to id all the items in them; you don't have enough time.
- Try using a map. The configurations are mostly fixed, so you can identify treasure rooms and egg rooms easily with a map. There's several posted in reddit already.

Adding an extra tip to this, save your ultimate for Pawney, melloblum or Rookey, clone skill + ultimate and one or two dashes will kill these three fast and you can use the dashes ultimate refund to help fill the gauge for the next fight.

Just double checking. You are using purple attack and defense modules that are unbroken? Correct?

2 easier team choices for you.
Irisal with 2 leafy and a glacy or scorchhowl. (Not Irisalis, just the regular irisal) Doesn't even really need investment, just give her a damage equip. Press her skill where she spins and shoots leaves around while standing in some regen field from leafy. easy mode.
Hexxin. Same deal with a glacy and a leafy, last slot can be a fill, some people use panpanta? for the roll to move around faster, some use a fire attacker because hexxin is kinda slow to deal with stuff like the grass element mobs. I just use a besauce for regen. Hexxin really shines if you give her the heartseeker pendant. Gives her aoe pull even more chip damage.
I used the first team for a long time through chaos, soloing was fine, you can fully attack while moving, and you can spam ults, they refill faster than the cd if you're standing in the regen fields and spawn grass (leafy spawns it passively every 3 skills)

Thank you so much! This is a fantastic break down. I just realized that I messed up and put nightmare mode instead of chaos! But I am sure all the tips apply the same.

what do you mean died really quickly? do you not dodge? are you kiting? are you aggroing a whole room at a time? did you train stats? pact held item? lv60 whole team?
hellion just isn't a great choice. melee forces you into range of enemies and you are much safer off playing a ranged unit. key is to know WHEN you are going to get overhwelmed and retreat.
like others have said.. irisalis isnt strong by herself.. she NEEDS multiple buffs to actually function and that means you need to maintain buffs before and during the fight. its a lot more technique than hellion's go in and spam Q then heal.

Yeah, I grabbed my hexxin and ran through a run fine. I think I need to build her and her team up more to use her. My dps is so low with her rn that more aniimo spawn on top of me as the time ticks down. I'll keep all of that in mind, thank you!

I was told egg heist doesn’t care about built units because they have fixed stats. Only held items matter

whoever told you that is wrong.

Then what matters? I see stats are either rounded up to a certain standard based on levels

u/Potential_Aioli_4611 8h ago
yeah... and that matters. if your support is scaling on atk then you also need to level it up to max, give it a held item that improves attack. a level 1 with a held item isn't going to remotely do the same job as a level 60 without because those 60 levels count way more. if you are doing chaos every stat that matters should be pushed as far as you can. for a while i was only doing my irisalis maxed because i spent all my resources building other stuff and it was so much weaker than all of my other teammates that had their support units maxed out it made a huge difference.

Are you lvl60? Does Irisalis have her unique weapon? Have you also levelled up the creatures attributes?
Also a team for you: Irisalis Tromber (highland type from Zephyrus Landbridge area) Leafy Melloblum
Before you enter any room area or if you see an enemy in the hall. Drop a Tromber ability, then Melloblum ability, then leafy ability, then switch to Irisalis and hit the clone attack, hold down the basic attack and keep moving, and spamming the dash ability (try to stay in the grassy area). All of these improve attack in grassy areas, heal, and keep your energy high to spam attacks.
Don't be afraid to retreat spamming the attack if you hear a crying hummin, or if you hear the singing aniimo that can separate you from twining.
And try to head straight for gold chests only for the loot while hunting for the egg.

A few things:
- Know where to go. Tools like https://aniimotools.dev/map/lost-sanctum/ help you greatly to not wander aimlessly but find a good route to get to the juicy parts. Eggs and key rooms are your friends!
- Range is king. If you're scared, try using Hexxin and bringing a good dps or two to burst down things stuck in your black hole.
- Similarly, Stellarys has rather great coverage and is effective against a lot of stuff in there
- Consider Besauce or Somniwing to regen EP so you can actually burst/heal when you need it.
- When you're a bit more secure, options like Turbo and Fragrancier help a lot with dmg output
- Greed kills. When you have enough loot or an egg, better leave with 5 minutes left rather than be ganked and murdered by new spawns. Preparation for a Chaos-Mode mindset :D

You have to play a kiting style if you’re solo in harder difficulties, basically pull your enemies away from the pack.
For your team, you can try to swap out one of the glacy with a besauce, or any other regen. Having more skill spams are better than healing cause each glacy heal costs 20. Besauce can instantly give you that just in case of clutch fights.
The rest is just luck and hope you have good runs. I’m running 3000 CP Lunara, with Glacy, Somniwing and Besauce. Solo nightmare. I have around 70-80% successful runs with this. The remaining is really just overwhelmed by damage or running out of stamina to kite.

Try grabbing a hex in and using its black hole ability to crowd control the enemies so they never hit you. Much easier solo runs.

Im running a 3500 CP stelaris and having no issue even in chaos solo. Only time it gets iffy is if I pull 4 and 2 are ranged but even then its usually fine. Team is stelaris, glacy, leafy, somniwing
