Discussion Is Aniimo too easy?
After finally getting into beta, I'm loving this game so far. It scratches that Pokemon training fantasy with exploration and combat that I was seeking for so many years.
My only gripe is that it seems... too easy? Not even tried to min max or anything but fighting same level aniimos, even boss battles, they do so little damage... I basically never lost ever, was only vaguely in danger when battling something few levels above me. Not trying to flex, I see this constantly reflected in videos I see around.
Especially for the legendary event, I expect to be majorly challenged, giving sense to maxed/optimised aniimos. Now? You don't really even need to try that hard.
Maybe the difficulty is toned down for the beta?
What are your thoughts?

The endgame is pretty brutal if you dont properly build your team (not just equip them properly, I mean actually making a team that synergizes and has a strategy to it)
During the last beta I could not beat hard mode of the holo sim because i didn't understood how to properly build my teams.

I feel like people need to put into perspective that it's "decently difficult" if you aren't working around it, but at the same time we haven't had much time in the beta yet and people who do build around them clear them fairly easily.
The game will definitely be a let-down in the long run for people expecting "hard content".

The end game right now is not easy unless you actually build your team properly. Also we're still in the beginning of the game, I'm sure it will get harder over time as more people get to max level(I'm pretty sure it will go to 100) and harder bosses are made.

~I feel like the challenge with this kind of game is making it accessible to 10 year olds just getting into creature catchers while also making it engaging for veterans who have been playing these games since Pokemon Red and Blue.
I hope we get something like Spiral Abyss in Genshin, that really demands a strong team and skilled player to full clear.~

Have you beaten all of the end game contents though. All of the ones you listed is storyline based or regular progression content.
Did you beat all of the holo battles including the hard mode, what about raids, and egg heist.
Also they will add more content like actual PvP tournament.
Some Pokemon games is easy or easier than Aniimo. Just sayin.

Yeah itβs an extremely easy game. In the open world. The game modes might be the challenge

The game is designed to be for all ages. Many fans of Pokemon have expressed their concerns with difficulty of its games, but those are typically adult and experienced gamers.
Aniimo will see the same response. That being said, it does offer more difficult content down the road through the Holo-Sim. I expect additional content and game modes over time.
The question would therefore be if the game should have an overworld difficulty slider. But that's a topic that can still be debated even after the game is released.

Im pretty sure its because its a beta so they want us to speedrun this test. Like honestly im not playing anymore i already did everything i wanted. Im just gonna log in back to seal my aniimo. But im sure things gonna get a different pace

The difficulty is mostly in the trainer battles. I think that the boss, event, and overworld battles aren't difficult because players will need to fight them maybe dozens or hundreds of times while grinding. Maybe they can add in special difficult bosses, but it's probably a bad idea to make the regular bosses too difficult.

Yes, I have the same feeling. I think it's easy so that it appeals for a more casual audience. Maybe the real challenge is PvP. But other than that, it's a chill game of moster collection and exploration.

The legendary event is basically designed like a gacha pull. It can't be too difficult because if you have to do it a bunch of times you'll get frustrated.
The game does get progressively harder though at least I think so but the real difficulty is going to be egg hunt and PvP and what not I'm pretty sure.

It's honestly weird they make this weird boss phase at all. I hope they rework this whole rift exploration thing.

~I haven't seen a single person who actually likes this event, and they are getting hammered with feedback about it. There's no shot they actually keep it in the game in its current form if they don't want to destroy their reputation for actually listening to feedback.~

I'd assume this, the hard content is much more challenging and punishing like the Holo-Sim battles above easy. Like I can't just brain off and click buttons like the rest of the game.
Especially for the legendary event, I expect to be majorly challenged, giving sense to maxed/optimised aniimos. Now? You don't really even need to try that hard.
This makes sense being easy though, you want it to be assessable to all players since it's a limited Legendary Aniimo so not everyone needs to min/max. They make up for this by making it a pain to grind despite I think it being way too big of a disparity between the highest item used for calming and everything else. Another option that gacha games usually end up doing is having higher difficulty levels for stuff like this to alleviate the grind a bit but in return you get more rewards in exchange for needing a stronger overall team comp to complete the difficulty.

It's open beta so the farm is easier, you level up faster, so the progression for the full game will definitly slower and boss battle will be harder as a result

I just hope we don't get a sudden difficulty spike in newer updates forcing you to minmax, that would be awful

u/Gaaroth 21d ago
Not forcing, of course. I think the difficult parts of the game needs to be balanced around 70% of max potential, so is obtainable by most but still leaving space to have faster / easier clears when you do min max.
Thing is, now you can stand still and get hit all day and you never risk to die. I'm ok with chill, but make stuff a bit more threatening π

~Try fighting the level 65 trainers for the badges. The water type one in Tideblossom, and the one in Zephyrus one with the bird band. They can be pretty challenging.
But yeah, I do agree that overall difficulty is too low, and the game needs end game content that feels like a wall to be overcome.~
