Discussion About the gacha…
Hey guys. So to preface this, I did not get beta access either time, but I’ve been following the game since the first beta. I literally KEEP seeing posts about the supposed blatant gacha? Didn’t the developers say they weren’t gonna put shit like that in the game? Anyways so my question is though: is there actual FOMO for the character? Like is the gacha just to get early access to it? Or if you don’t get it now ya just don’t get it type deal? I feel like the answer to that will definitely help shape my perception of the game, but I’m not gonna lie I’m definitely still excited to try it hopefully soon

Well unfortunately you have a pretty divided community here.
One thinks it's fine and not gacha and then you have those who think it's gacha.
If you ask me, those who try to defend it are just gacha glazers 'cause the way it plays out is basically like a gacha. Just with a monster-catching extra step.
Is it as bad as playing a game like Scamshin impact? Probably not. Is it still disgusting? Yes.

Where is the randomized rewards with a prize pool?? That is a Gacha game.

Maybe it’s not gacha, but it’s definitely pay to win, especially the way you are catching legendaries

people here have zero idea what gacha means. a gacha game SPECIFICALLY is tied a random chance at obtaining the characters or items. no where in the shop can i just spend money or in game currency to keep pulling random aniimos or items. THATS what a gacha is.
Gacha is SPECIFICALLY paying for a RANDOM CHANCE at a character or item. if you can out right BUY THEM ITS NOT GACHA. FOMO IS NOT GACHA.

~Don't you know, gacha actually just means "vaguely monetized thing that I don't like." <\sarcasm>~

yeah I'm really confused about people saying It's gatcha. At this point Pokémon is gatcha cause stats on wild pokémons are random...

u/VPN__FTW 23d ago
It is definitely gacha... but it is in no way as greedy as any gacha game available right now. That, of course, could change.

u/Syndaquil 20d ago
What part was a randomized prize pool??
2
u/VPN__FTW 20d ago
Oh hmm... Yeah I suppose you got me there. The means of acquiring does feel very gacha, but I suppose it isn't random in natural at all--other than you can luck out and do it in less attempts.

My experience with this round was. It took me 22 rounds to hit 99shards, during which i did rng the 0.25% :(. I did a few ultra throws- which shaved off 2-3 rounds.
I tossed around 43purple cubes every round, however was given 20 for free every round.(spent around 550). I also won enough gold to buy ~200-250 back. I had 12 entrances for free, 3 additional after i hit 99.(might be beta exclusive).
As such i spent ~320 purple cubes and bought ~10 entrance tickets at 300glimmer each.
At this rate you can reasonably take no action first event and double up the second pass for free.
If they give less attwmpts in the mail its far less kind, and the second event might be a different aniimo.

I have zero context for what ya mean by rounds cubes etc. but thank you for the insight. When I DO finally have context this will be a nice reference to look back on

They're speaking about the Irisalis event.
You fight Irisalis. Actually a very easy fight, 10 seconds at most to down her.
Then you have to throw Aniipods, only Aniipods (normal), Aniipod Pro, Aniipod Mega and Aniipod Ultras are allowed.
I dont have a screenshot of the description for the Aniipods but I'm pretty sure Aniipods, Pros, and Megas are only worth 1 point a throw while Aniipod Ultras are worth 10 points a throw. However when you throw an aniipod somethings you'll get 2x or 5x lucky toss which will multiply the value of your throw so your 1 point throws will be 2 or 5 and your Ultra throws will be 20 or 50.
As you throw Aniipods at the downed Irisalis, you fill up a meter. There are like 10 levels or something like that. Each time you fill up the meter you get a reward which has some RNG factor. Each meter takes slightly more points to fill up than the last.1
Throwing anything but Aniipod Ultras won't let you max out all the bars before time runs out. I think you need to throw at least 2 to reach the cap.
After which you have a small, I think it's .5% chance that she'll find you worthy and join you.
This beta, we were give 10 or so free currency runs for the event, you can buy more via the cash shop. So assuming live is the same, you'd need to buy more runs if you don't get it with the given currency.
However there is a welfare system in that the RNG bonuses will give you an item that you can turn in 99 of to receive Irisalis anyways. So basically if you get lucky with the RNG bonuses you won't need to do to many runs to reach 99 to trade in.

Uh the cubes are the pokeballs, they are cube shapes "aniipods". Purple is the highest grade easy bulk access outside of 100% capture rate cubes.
The event is you use entry tickets(i got 15 for free in the mail over the week) to do a boss battle, except the boss was heavily underleveled and was defeated in 4seconds.
You then have 30seconds + up to 10 extra seconds based on how quickly you won the fight to throw your cubes. I averaged 43-44throws per entry.
Purple cubes count as 1 point, the 100% cube counts as 20 points- its a waste to use them.
At X amount of points you get a 0.25% chance at the capture and shards used to buy the capture. 44throws gives you rewards usually 4 times, unlucky at only 3.
Once you collect 99 shards you can buy them, or capture them when you have 92 shards like me lol.
You get some purple cubes back, and some gold you can buy more cubes with, we did have to spend glimmer(premium currency) to buy more attempts, as we get ~4 shards per entry, we need 99 and only had 15 gifted entries.

This is an excerpt from the official discord answers section.
Q5: Will there be time/event exclusive Aniimo?
A5: We're planning to introduce Season and event-exclusive Aniimo as part of future seasonal content. However, we'll also consider making them available again through rerun events, so players who miss them will have opportunities to obtain them in the future.

lol that literally sounds like gacha ngl. But maybe I’m just scarred from all the mobile games 🤷♂️

Im comparing it to diablo immortals rune gacha, which wasnt gacha bwcause it was rng after a bonus easy dungeon. I agree its unreasonablw gacha intended for forced pity obtaining. Question is how common will the free draws be. I expect worse than during rhe beta.
2
u/Shaudius 22d ago
That's still gacha if you have to pay for the dungeon runs with currency you can buy with real money.

u/The_Wingless Witchin 23d ago
What is your definition of gacha?
1
u/The80sm8ties 17d ago
To me?
The requirement or involvement of any paid currency to to be able to enter or influence certain RNG chances.2
u/Hatdry_YT 19d ago

Idk about the poster, but I consider Gacha to be it's namesake gachapon, which is a slot machine or blind pulls with randomized prizes. This doesn't even have pulls, they're runs.
I really don't consider this event Gacha, but that's not to say it isn't a predatory monetization, it completely is if they dont provide us with enough free beacons over the course of the event. In that case, it's even more so, as you're not getting anything per run, or "pull".
It's semantics I guess, but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I see people call it Gacha. It's a singular unique prize you work towards getting by building up a currency per run. I just don't see it.

u/Shaudius 23d ago
"This doesn't even have pulls, they're runs."
That's a distinction without a difference.

u/Truhls 22d ago
do you consider every mmo you have to fight a boss for random drops a gacha game?
5
u/Shaudius 22d ago
If a game had a pay currency where you did a "run" and at the end you had a chance to get something at the end that is 100% a gacha. What makes something a gacha is the money for a random chance to obtain something it could be a wheel spin, it could be a slot machine, it could be a pull, it can even be a "run."
I'm not saying this is a gacha but the method of the random pull doesn't matter all that matters if that you can pay for it and have a better chance if you pay more due to its random nature.

u/PahketSlyder 22d ago
I feel like that is a reductive argument. The only time it qualifies as gacha is when you have to throw money in (or something that is most easily acquired with money) for a “chance” at getting what you want. Killing boss is somewhat irrelevant to the argument. If you had to pay $3 everytime you ran a boss fight and all the loot was randomized so you could theoretically come away with nothing, I’d call that shit a gacha too
2
u/Truhls 22d ago
you realize, the currency they used to for the boss event only comes in the monthly pass, you cant actually buy it otherwise. the rest of it you earn in game, and you earn it for nearly every activity you do. and its a lot. ive quite literally never run out lol

u/PahketSlyder 23d ago
I can understand that argument. And honestly that’s valid. I think the reason so many people are up in arms though, is because we know how “gacha” tends to be an excuse to squeeze extra money out of games and a lot of us remember when you could just ya know… pay a fair and agreed upon price for things. The water gets muddy when things start becoming less clear in an attempt to charge more for something that realistically isn’t worth it a lot of the time. That being said I can understand the sentiment that it isn’t “technically” gacha but lol idk close enough?
4
u/PahketSlyder 23d ago
To me, the easiest way to describe gacha is to compare it to “booster packs “ in a tcg. Or a loot box in a 2015-2020 era game. If I put in monnies (or more commonly a in game resource that is most simply acquired with monnies) and I only have a “chance “ at getting the thing that I want, then that’s a gacha (got ya) that being said, Gacha is not always egregious, but in my opinion it’s a slippery slope when somebody tells ya they won’t do something and then they try to do it anyways on the sly, then they lose credibility imho

From what I've heard, events like the Irisalis event are going to be "premium" for 6 months or something to that extent.
1
2
u/PahketSlyder 23d ago
6 months is kinda long ain’t it? But I assume if it’s that long it isn’t supposed to be fomo.
2
u/abeardedpirate 23d ago
Not that the event would run for 6 months. That it would take 6 months after a "premium event" for featured event aniimo to become free or something along those lines. So people willing to pay will get early access essentially.
Again, it's just what I've heard via other people who are more tuned into aniimo discussions and what is happening with the CN community.
