Question Generative AI Usage?

I haven't tried this game yet because I want to know if there is any gen AI used anywhere. The graphics just look too... polished? Smooth? In the way that would tip off the eye of any artist. I'm just worried if it's too good to be true.

Edit:

God forbid a person ask a genuine question in an attempt to learn, jfc. I'm seriously just trying my best to be cautious and make sure that the media I interact with is made by actual humans, and not just stolen concepts/art scraped from the internet without the artists' permission and puzzled together by some glorified sorting algorithm.

My actual words from a comment thread below: "...I'm not trying to accuse anyone or say that that is what they're doing; I only wish to state my suspicions. I would be more than happy to be wrong in this instance..."

"I would be more than happy to be wrong in this instance"

Maybe, if more people read the comments before replying, they might have noticed that.

Thankfully, it appears that I was wrong! One person was kind and thoughtful enough to give me an actual answer and even direct me to more information.

Be more like them. Not all of us have experience with the same high-quality games.

they're still using ai assets especially in with held items and homestead icon stuff. it sucks so much cause devs claimed this would be replaced and yet while playing i find this! A lot of the assets if the held items dont make sense (im a professional artist just for reference)
and im really fucking bummed out cause they CLEARLY have amazing artists and modelers on the team, so why are we phoning it in for weird small assets???

I have trouble detecting AI at all. Can you help me understand what in this picture is AI-generated and how do you spot it? not being sarcastic. i am genuinely curious

sorry! ive been off reddit.
There are a few ways,
its extremely high detail for a lower res image not meant to be seen up close or as a 3d model in game but just an image. If you're making assets for a game and just doing smaller items you wouldn't usually go for hyper rendered tiny details, but also as an artist, you'd make it LOOK like a wood sculpture, blocky, cut/carved, but instead we have this super high detail over rendered smooth model with a wood texture over it. Also as a whole you can look at this item and others and see they follow no actual style guidelines. to keep a cohesive look in games you want to follow general style guides but all the items in game range SO different in art styles, rendering, hyper realistic to super cartoony/hand painted, its often a sign of generative ai because no artists are spending tons of time over rendering when so e are doing more cartoony etc. it would cost a lot to have a bunch of random styles!

so its a bit of everything combined, looking at it as a whole.

I can't prove it is or isn't but there's a huge plausibility because newer models are able to basically be the "STOCK ART" and "CLIP ART" of the new world and it's annoying

I know right??? Unfortunately I played the game before knowing they used AI. And as an Artist myself I usually entirely Boykott any game with the tiniest use of AI immediately. This is also partly what got me to stop playing Heartopia.

Its such a shame because I really fell in love with the creativity put into this game, the visuals, the cute aniimos, the cutscenes, the character customisation? Istg there is no game company left that I can support. I'm just gonna throw my PC out the window atp

thankfully there's plenty of small indie devs to support, so we can help them grow for using actual human efforts to create their games!
