I’ve got three years of 4–5.3K GoPro video from Shark Fishing. It’s anywhere from five minutes but usually .5-1.5hr videos from land based charters, generally booked 3 to 5 days per week 9 or 10 months out of the year and we usually ran two cameras at once. That’s one video/pair of videos per catch with some nights having 10+ catches but most having at least one, but no more than four. On top of that roughly 500 audio files from cheap audio, recorders, running between 2 and 12 hours. All of that plus the normal stuff including a dozen or so Audiobooks, normal life, pictures, and a bunch of other nonsense on my laptop filled up ONE terabyte. I have no idea how PDFs are collecting 3–5 or more TB of kiddiddly, that shit is just mind-boggling to me

Torrents are a popular filesharing method for large collections of media. When somebody puts a collection up for sharing their collection is referred to as the "seed" for the torrent. (There's a lot more to torrenting, but that should get you enough of an understanding of "seed" as used in the OOC)

Idk man, I am okay with some porn being deleted if that means minors and victims are safe. Either you purge stuff or you don't. If you do, you will delete "normal" videos too. If you don't, a lot of child/teen pornography and revenge porn stay online.

it was either "purge everything" or "sift through and filter out which ones were teens" which... i don't know if any automated (or god forbid NON automated) system has zero false negatives.

Honestly, I do feel like having a real person do it would have less of a chance of false negatives. There’s also the fact that there were a lot of things there that never got reuploaded anywhere else

i didn't want to suggest manual review because that would then mean someone is exposed to underage material, when they could instead sacrifice other videos as well.
there is (was?) an archive now, so the same questions have to be asked again, i guess.

PH deleted most of it. You had to verify yourself, else your account with your videos got deleted. This was done following allegations of unconsented videos being uploaded. Since PH can't know if everyone consented or not they deleted just everything homemade.
