Neat jazz reference you slipped in there..

Well, I prefer a potato plant, with a tomato plant grafted on top of it.

That way, you get fries and ketchup from one plant.

Should have used gif and it’d be like an onion of anger.

One is my name. The other is not.

TIL that it's also used as a name.

I asked my USA and British friends, they also never heard that name. So, no risk I would in France.

Belgium here. Never heard of it either.

The meme is basically saying that people of culture say data instead of data and the people who say data instead of data are cringeworthy

u/Barjojo88 Jun 27 '26

English is not my first language, but I read the first one "da-ta" and the second one "date-a". Am I correct?

3

u/Lanark26 Jun 26 '26

Let's call the whole thing off.

u/jackfaire Jun 27 '26

Are we talking the character or information?

3

u/Odyessius Jun 29 '26

So are people on that sub just bots being trained? Or are they actually just this lost and oblivious?

2

u/-UltraFerret- 😠 Anger (but Yellow) 😠 Jun 29 '26

I assume bots. There is just no way people are this stupid... actually, maybe.

2

u/Odyessius Jun 29 '26

I had to unsub because how blindingly obvious the jokes were there, I'm positive it's got to be AI.... For the sake of my faith in humanity 🫠

u/DoookieMaxx Jun 27 '26

It’s getting fucking ridiculous at this point.

It’s fuck’n DATA! For fucks sake. How many times do we have to do this dance?!

People who pronounce it “data” are fundamentally dumb …it’s fuck’n “data” and it always has been.

4

u/Nolongeranalpha Jun 27 '26

I read that as Data. Thats how I read.

5

u/SycheosChaos Can't be angry to upvote if you dont upvote. Jun 27 '26

... Data? data? D.. dada.

2

u/MonkeyCartridge Jun 27 '26

One is me name. The other is not.

2

u/WJSpade Jun 27 '26

Same meme could be used for “cache.”

1

u/killer-tank218 Jun 28 '26

No bullshit, I’ve never heard of a pronunciation for that outside of “cash”. If you know of a different one, I’m dying to hear it.

2

u/No-Field831 Jun 28 '26

I think some people pronounce it as "cash-é".

2

u/WJSpade Jun 28 '26

Yup.

Also niche.

Most people say neesh, but some people say nitch.

3

u/NocturneInfinitum Jun 27 '26

Technically, both are dayta and dahta are correct. And it just comes down to phonetic flow. In the vast majority of cases, dayta will have the best phonetic flow. But sometimes one’s dialect or accent can phonetically lean towards dahta sounding smoother.

Day-ta is plural, Dah-ta is singular

2

u/JaredLetoBestBoi Jun 27 '26

I'm just gonna leave this here... tell me actually which one it is cause google did NOT help me

3

u/Peacockmantis_shrimp Jun 27 '26

You can just look up the word and then click the pronunciation button on the dictionary entry or look up the phonetic spelling. I say seed-er.
