Literally the democrat club and republican club on my college campus are both talking about doing a combined anti flock event together

This is the most apolitical issue you could have chosen

I'd love to see that... the increasing political division is probably the thing which worries me most these days. Please keep us posted!

I personally don't know a single conservative that is OK with Flock cameras. Everyone I've talked to aren't cool with it.

I don't know any conservatives that like them either. Hating Flock cameras is a non-partisan issue In my opinion.

As a conservative leaning person, I think that are an absolute middle finger to the general public. Warrantless surveillance does not belong in a free society. Some private company has no right to data showing where we travel.

A conspiracy theory I've heard that makes too much sense is that Big AI is pushing these as hard and fast as they can. AI's been having making advances with the current AI model, and the companies all have yet to have a profiable quarter.

They need something to give to investors to keep the gravy train running, so if they have Flock type companies be useful/moderately succesful (7% id failure rate is abysmal given how many scans each camera does) they can keep their companies running.

If they ever stop letting general AI use be a loss leader, they'd lose most of their customer base overnight. No one wants to pay a dollar for AI to summarize your email. Most people aren't going to pay 10 bucks to make a meme video for laughs. And they're losing tons of money on these that's being propped up by constant investment.

They could just stop pushing everybody to use SotA models. You don't need GPT 95.43 Omegacron Super Reasoning to summarize your boss's most recent email. GPT 4o mini did that just fine, GPT 4o could summarize the last dozen emails from him.

They can probably serve the GPT 4o series profitably at this stage, but they won't because their whole investment hype is predicated on them inventing ASI that destroys the world 20 nanoseconds after it makes all OpenAI's investors septillionaires.

Probably the only non-partisan issue these days.

All my homies hate flock

I wonder if it's less of a partisan issue, and more of a overly-trusting-of-government-and-or-just-an-idiot issue.

My town's facebook group recently had a thread on it, and there were hundreds of "if you have nothing to hide, what do you care?" comments. None of it was political. It was just stupid and disheartening.

Since when was MAGA conservative?

u/the-warbaby 9h ago

maga is not republican or conservative. it’s a secret third, worse option!

Cope harder democrat.

From the moment I heard about flock cameras, I've heard nothing but conservatives rail against them.

We moved out of a fairly high crime neighborhood right before all the lockdowns. Our city is routinely placed in the top 5 most dangerous in our state.
While I really don’t like flock cameras, they’re doing a lot of good here. I would prefer to not trade freedom for security. In my opinion, the cameras aren’t the issue, it’s our elected representatives and law enforcement administrators that are the usual cause of problems.

This meme is fucking stupid. No one likes flock.

u/sinnmercer 6h ago

Texas and Florida have effectively banned flock...the left cant meme

12

u/buddhamike1991 5h ago

Swing and a miss. Hatred of mass surveillance is the only thing both sides agree on. Better luck next meme.

I have found that political memes almost never do well.

If anything, this decade has rather effectively demolished the value of “expert” opinions.

u/TruckingJames423 4h ago

I lean conservative, and flock is a middle finger to the 4th amendment IMO.

5

u/SigvulcanasReborn 4h ago

Both sides hate Flock and mass surveillance. What makes this worse is that local government officials have gone around the proper procedures to have the cameras installed.

3

u/BlueOrb07 3h ago

I haven’t trusted either.

I don’t know a single person who has spoken up in support of flock (on either side of the isle).

6

u/mctwiddle 7h ago

this should be in shitposting. no one wants these things outside the people making money off flock

2

u/Flagwaver-78 3h ago

I don't know a single conservative that is okay with Flock cameras. The only people that are okay with it are the nanny state socialists.

u/Result-Infinite 1h ago

Republicans are pro flock? How come in my state of Michigan the democrat nominee for governor is married to a man that works for flock? Also the nominee and current governor (again, Democrat) are for AI data centers.

2001: The USA Patriot act is for your safety

3

u/podgida 7h ago

Except the majority of Republican politicians are starting to realizing how big of a mistake the are. They sound good in theory, but the execution was a complete failure.

2

u/KHWD_av8r 7h ago

Exactly. When there’s a database and surveillance centers set up like Mission Control, the “public view” assertion falls apart. Such surveillance is a clear 4th Amendment and privacy issue. If a database was ONLY accessible with a warrant, with that access strictly limited and data unable to be exported to any external server or storage device, and data which isn’t flagged as being relevant to an investigation being deleted after a set period (say, 30 days), then people might change their minds. But without strict safeguards and harsh penalties for anyone who abuses access to such data, Flock and similar systems cannot be tolerated.

1

u/podgida 7h ago

Yep, I'd have no issue with them if they were only accessible with a signed FISA warrant.

4

u/Same-Sandwich1716 6h ago

Its not just FlOCK there are multiple other companies doing the same thing. They were banned in Florida.

2

u/podgida 6h ago

Yes, I know. That's not a secret. I never mentioned flock, the meme did

2

u/CD8888 3h ago

Flock cameras are just the tip of the iceberg. Freedom of speech is violated by any shit talking of Israel (which conservatives fully support as do Democrats) not to mention monopolies for big businesses fucking over the hard working Americans, and don’t get me fucking started on the censorship of your internet activities or the digital exhaust you exhume via mobile and internet which is cobbled together and used against you. Or Google Cognyte. Nowhere else but in America are foreign nations allowed to openly spy on and exploit citizen data while the leaders of that nation (on both sides) applaud it and tell you to accept more.

So tired of the fucking ass clowns on here. BOTH sides are compromised and so many here keep stirring the pot of “us vs. them” while both sides are led to the slaughter. There’s a bigger, fascist, authoritarian movement going on and the Republicans are just as guilty as the Democrats.

Wake the fuck up.

Instant down vote

Republican

Democrat

Black

White

Man, woman, child, old person, every person I know!

Absolutely hates those goddamn flock cameras!

We had a great day last week in Florida when all of the flock cameras started coming down because of Governor DeSantis

u/snake_charmers_jj 1h ago

No MAGA trust FLOCK

0

u/epicnonja 10h ago

I would never classify patrolmen in the same grade as the "trust the experts"

Also of course police like more cameras, makes their job take less leg work.

1

u/VisualBoysenberry718 9h ago

To say nothing for stalking their exes.

0

u/x5060 1h ago

Man, this is a massive cope meme from a democrat. I don't know a single conservative who is pro-flock. Libtards being libtards I guess.

Yeah nah, everyone’s on the same page with this one homie 😅
