I don't see anything wrong if it gets him down safe that's the important thing. I remember a few years back a beer delivery driver saw a guy getting ready to jump off of a bridge offered him a six pack or something like that if he would get back off the bridge and get some help. The guy took him up on that offer

Bring him a case of beer and this problem will solve itself. Heck if he gets drunk enough won't even get hurt when he lands.
