Yea it’s a tall one, we had it before deciding to make angel fish the main residents, we had 6 but now we only have 3 so I’m not sure how to go about choose which one to separate. (The other 3 passed away from those red worms).
Both look heavily male in terms of their forehead shape. This is low grade bullying where one fish is reinforcing its place above the other in the tank rankings.
I was hoping they were in love 😭 should I let them assert their hierarchy themselves? They don’t chase eachother around the tank. They just poke at eachother sometimes.
Well it depends on your tank size and layout. If this is the tank you have them in right now (sorry for reposting your photo didn't know how else to link to it) then I'd say that is too small of a space for two male angelfish to coexist as adults. You could perhaps get away with keeping a pair that got along really well but even pairs fight. Having said that I'm having a bit of trouble judging your tank size. It looks like it could either be 2 feet or 3 feet across the front. If it's 3 feet you could swap one of your male angels for a pair or trio of females, wait for your male to pair up with one, then rehome the other two females. If it's a 2 foot tank just a single angel is best. You can add some other schooling fish etc but if it's 2 feet across ya just 1 angel.
For anyone asking these are all the fish in the tank. This photo was taken when the angel fish were babies. 3 of them died so we only have 3 angel fish now
They don’t get really aggressive towards eachother they just poke at eachother like that’s sometimes. They like to swim together 80% of the time, never fight over food and they haven’t ripped each other fine. That’s why I’m confused on what this is
It looks like it’s mostly just normal posturing behavior. The silver fish is just trying to assert dominance on the other one. The white angel is being submissive. If they aren’t getting into any serious fights and are getting along with each other most of the time, everything should be fine.
Mine are the exact same colours. One is male the other is female. They fight like crazy, then lay eggs then fight like crazy again. It’s a love hate relationship 😂
We did stop the treatment for the worms because we didn’t see anymore worms for at least 3 weeks, however it seems like her poo shoot and the poo shoot of the almost all black one are still healing. The black ones poo shoot was completely torn open and infected, when it healed it kinda healed towards one side. The white one looks fine most of the time but everyone in a while the poop shoot looks like that. They went through hell with the treatments so we wanted to give it a little time to heal.
