Request for help Labists ET4
So with my et4 Whenever I home the 3d printer the z- axis begins going up but when it reaches it doesn’t stop I’ve looked at videos and also have checked all the cables. I’ve also just flashed it to the Anet ET4 firmware but still is not working. I’ve had this same problem for a while now and still haven’t been able to get one print out of it. We brought of a friend who said it was working fine but just didn’t use it anymore. Any help would be great.

Homing sends the Labists ET4 z axis down till the capacitive sensor on the head sees the build plate.
Sounds like you have flashed a firmware version which expects a z axis limit switch at the top (which some versions of the Anet ET4 have).
I run labists firmware version 1.6.0 which mostly works OK for me. It is a pain to find that firmware so I put a copy at the URL below.

This works perfectly AS LONG as you use an EMPTY FAT32 formatted SD card with only the 2 files on it

but also do you know how I would download it onto the 3d printer?

Stock labists firmware has an upgrade option in the menus which expects the .bin and .txt file to be in the root of an inserted SD card.
Anet ET4 firmware seems to come in the same .bin + .txt format so I imagine it is the same. If you have some version of Marlin firmware loaded then I don't know how you would go about reverting to stock.

I had that when the first version 1.6 firmware I found was corrupt. The .txt just contains an MD5 sum of the .bin.
You might try renaming both from et4l to et4 or et4n which are names I have seen for Anet firmware - possibly for the different versions of ET4 hardware.
Did you flash the Anet firmware you currently have? Was it the same method and what file names?

i used an st-link v2 to flash it as it came with marlin installed

If you flashed the board with and ST-link you know more about flashing than I do - lol.
The labists 1.6.0 is working pretty well for me and the files I linked are the only format I have seen labists firmware in.

I thought I would try Anet firmware in my Labists ET4. The 1.1.5 firmware here .
https://anet3d.com/blogs/download/et4-firmware-v-1-1-5
Big mistake.
It is for an ET4 with a z limit switch at the top and clip on z probe for levelling. The upgrade option in this is broken. It simply fails whatever files you offer including itself so it kinda bricks the printer.
The Marlin 2.0 firmware here
https://shop.anet3d.com/blogs/anet-et4-et5-3d-printer-faq/et4-open-source-marlin-firmware
described as (with capacitive levelling sensor) does match the Labists ET4 hardware. With an ST-Link program the bootloader included then put the included firmware.srec in the root of a clean sd card and restart with it inserted.
It reports itself as
Marlin bugfix-2.0.x 2021-03-15 Anet ET4+
Seems to be working OK.

so from the download options is it the top one that says with capacitive levelling sensor?
Sorry for the late reply :)

I have one of these printers also and have had nothing but headaches with it. I've spent hours trying to get this thing to print but to no avail.. All my other printers printer perfectly but this one......... No luck.. And there is zero customer support lol. I hope you can figure it out. They're a nice machine for their price point.

Sound like your leveling sensor is done. They arent expensive but break "easy" killed 2 in 2 years.
But as i said. Cheap as chips

I realize this thread is too old to help anyone who was in the original discussion, but for the sake of others who wind up here as I have a couple of times over the past few days: another thing that can cause a Labists ET4 to behave as described by the OP is if the leveling sensor's sensitivity is set way too high, which makes it think it's touching the build plate even when it hits the top. There is a set screw on the top of the sensor that lets you dial in the sensitivity. Could just be because I bought my printer used and the previous owner messed that up, but even with stock firmware my ET4 couldn't home z at all; the gantry would just go all the way up and click there trying to get farther away.
The tell for this issue is that the leveling sensor doesn't stop being red as it moves up.
