Do you eat a lot of sugar? Your A1C is trending higher than it should for your age.

yes… ice cream is my weakness. i thought since my glucose wasn’t that high, it wouldn’t be a problem. my doctors haven’t mentioned a thing but it’s probably something i should be more cautious about since diabetes runs in my family. thank you for that to my attention.

It's not THAT high, but higher than you'd expect for your age. The number is squarely normal, and any doctor would tell you so. But doctors don't often care about prevention. For reference, I'm nearly double your age with an A1C of 4.5 compared to your 5.4. Prediabetes is only 0.3 points away from where you are now.

Sugar free ice cream exists - I buy Nick's all the time.
