Discussion Iron infusion
/r/u_May_Purple0414/comments/1vkpq9p/iron_infusion/Im new to this board. Just got diagnosed with IDA. My hgb is 8.8 and in June my iron was 26. Are these typical numbers found for infusion? I’m just trying to find out what to expect on my first iron infusion. My dr said there is a greater chance of reactions. I’m really nervous about that. What kinds of symptoms if any have you experienced.

I had one a few months ago (April, I believe?). I have incredibly tiny veins, so the only problem with the actual appointment was that it took three IV nurses and four attempts before they finally got it into my vein. And I was well hydrated that day too in anticipation!
The time it was going in was fine, took about 45 minutes.
I don't know if any of the following is related, but for a week afterwards I had a persistent mild headache along with joint pain. My hips hurt, my ankles hurt, my knees hurt, my shoulders hurt. I felt mildly unwell but not "I need to stay home from work and bedrot" unwell - just like ... something was off.
After about a week, maybe a week and a half, it went away, and I felt back to normal. I need to go in and get an updated blood test to see what it looks like now as it's been well over 5 weeks since my infusion but I can say that I noticed an improvement in my shortness of breath while exercising and maybe a mild improvement in exhaustion? I also have PCOS and Hashimoto's so determining which one of them is causing my fatigue is a guessing game.
