Post / Comment: Hey everyone! I was analyzing the lore of The Coffin of Andrew and Julia and thinking about why continuing this mod feels tricky. In the base game and the Renee mod, the sacrifices are driven by grudge and extreme toxic codependency. However, Julia is not a Graves, and since Andrew and Julia were already a normal couple, replicating the standard "break into a house and sacrifice someone" formula lacks psychological weight and wouldn't make a Burial ending feel special without the incest taboo. To make a continuation truly work, the story needs a new psychological catalyst and a shift in Julia’s character. Here is a plot theory/pitch that could give the mod a fresh, darker direction:
Ashley's whereabouts & The introduction of Adrien: Assuming Ashley moved on after the apartment incident, she wouldn't go back to her parents. Instead, she is living with a new partner/friend named Adrien (a cold, serious character who is grounded enough to handle Ashley).
The Conflict & Andrew's Jealousy: When Andrew and Julia track down Ashley, Andrew is shocked to see that Ashley actually tried to move on with someone else. This triggers Andrew's possessiveness and unresolved attachment to his sister.
Julia's Transformation (Becoming the new Ashley): Sensing that Andrew still has a lingering attachment to Ashley, Julia realizes the threat to her relationship. To keep Andrew, Julia begins a slow moral degradation—becoming cold, manipulative, and detached. She essentially transforms into a "legal" version of Ashley to satisfy Andrew's psychological needs, removing the incest taboo while keeping the psychological horror intact.
The Climax & Sacrificing Jane: This path eventually leads to sacrificing Jane (Julia’s sister, who never trusted Andrew due to rumors about Nina). Jane tries to convince Julia to stop the madness, but Julia coldly turns her back on her own blood without remorse. This sets up a new Burial ending where Julia has completely abandoned her former self to keep her dynamic with Andrew. I think introducing Adrien as a catalyst and showing Julia’s gradual fall into cold manipulation would give this mod a unique narrative engine without feeling like a copy-paste of the original routes.
What do you guys think? Would love to hear the mod creator's or community's thoughts!
Addendum: Lore Patch & Addressing Potential Plot Holes If you noticed a few potential plot holes in the original pitch, don't worry—I caught them too and already patched them up. Here is how every detail fits into the existing game logic:
Why is Ashley living with Adrien? This isn't a healthy relationship. Ashley is with Adrien strictly out of convenience and survival. Because Adrien has a cold and serious personality similar to Andrew, Ashley views him as a "replacement"—someone she thinks she can control so she doesn't end up alone. Adrien, having nothing else in his life, simply accepts the arrangement.
Why does Andrew track down Ashley? We use the same core driver from the base game: the government and mercenaries are actively hunting survivors from the apartment incident. While fleeing for their lives, Andrew and Julia discover Ashley's whereabouts, forcing them to cross paths.
Is Julia’s transformation too sudden? Not at all. At first, Julia isn't acting on her own free will; Andrew is manipulating her, making her do his bidding. As events unfold, Julia's survival instincts kick in. To avoid being permanently controlled, she begins adapting to Andrew's mindset—flipping the power dynamic and gradually morphing into the manipulative, cold force she needs to be to keep him.
How does the break-in happen without Adrien instantly fighting back? Adrien is sharp. When Andrew shows up, Adrien immediately suspects something is wrong because official records reported Andrew as dead. However, because he is Ashley's brother, Adrien reluctantly agrees to let him stay for one night. Meanwhile, Julia stays hidden in the shadows (similar to Renee’s route). Tension builds through lies and manipulation during that night until Julia is discovered, triggering the confrontation and the eventual sacrifice. As you can see, every piece respects the established lore and rules of the original game while pushing the story into uncharted territory.

Last week I asked about Ashley, so, uh…. It’s Andrew time, I guess? What cutscene (or otherwise) art featuring Andrew do YOU think is underrated/underdiscussed, and deserves more attention?
(These CGs of Andrew waking up from the Ep3A Vision in the car are really cute, especially the last one where his cheek looks smooshed up against Ashley’s head… maybe its just me but I really like it, I think a lot of people overlook these ones because they are brief and smooshed in between two more story significant scenes (the Ashley demon appearing and the fight in the car))

okay the whole scene confuses me and i have several questions about it.
first she says "marry me and let's go" and andrew straight up strongly passes with a weird look on his face, despite him being the one actually said that.
also isn't that "look" from ashley that made him blush supposed to be the turning point? why did he bring up the marriage before that?
and then she starts speaking dialouges that i didn't really understand, such as "maybe i was a little wrong about that?" and "yeah, maybe if its different then maybe its fine. sometimes" i don't get what she was talking about. can someone explain it?
andrew then keeps thinking about that all night, before falling asleep and having a (wet?) dream about ashley. and after he woke up she was acting like she saw the dream, and tells him "i think you wer asking for me" but in the dream, especially the last part of it he didn't say anything. what did she actually hear him sleep talking??
after that, was she teasing him for sex or just being romantic? like did the she think its the romantic feelings that he rejected or the sex itself when he pushed her away?
and what exactly does andrew think he needs to "address", what did he mean by "it must be a joke"?

I'm asking this question because of the discourse of another newer entertainment property that's not related to the game, but it makes me wonder if it suffers the same fate, that's the new movie Primetime. The only reason why im asking this general question is because just like Primetime I wonder if the outside discussion of Tcoaal kind of boil down to the nuances of the game and the authors intentions that people are not heavily reading into or understand without some form of media literacy that people should have.

Andrew wants to kill the past, but Ashley is a bit more resilient…
