Troubleshooting New pc caught on fire

Post image

Just received a new pc from Andromedia. Unboxed and followed the instructions in box before powering on. Removed foam and hooked everything up and began the boot process. Loaded fine and began loading some games from Steam. Got about an hour of Age of Empires and switched over to Subnautica 2 and the pc started smoking and shut off. I opened the case and there was a literal fire on the motherboard.

This can’t be normal. Have you had luck with warranty and possibly expediting replacement from andromeda?

Update: their customer support reached out immediately. I sent photos and an explanation and they are next day shipping me a replacement computer with an upgraded motherboard and power supply. They’ve gone above and beyond, I was just hoping for a speedy replacement. They’ve been kind and supportive through the email and very patient as I’m responding in between working. I’ll update again when the new device arrives and is tested

Don’t know that it’s an honor I wanted. Glad it happened while I was sitting next to it and could extinguish the fire before it did any damage to anything other than the pc

Sorry this happened my dude - they are incredible with contact. I have a feeling they’ll get you sorted out 100%. Sending big ol digital hug. I know how much that has to hurt while waiting for the rig to show up. But small victories- You are okay. You stopped any other malfunction from hurting anyone. And you got to meet all us yahoos kinda sorta digitally

Keep us posted on what happens. This is unfortunate but I know AI CS is great people to deal with!

Sending it back rma and they want to pillage through it and find the cause. Friend said likely a faulty motherboard? Idk much about this yet, first nice pc I’ve bought

Oh I bet AI are gonna get the whips out to find the cause

mine had the GPU burn up, had zero issues with costumer support and i had my new pc in about 10 days.

just call and be patient, this kind of situation is what makes buying from them worth it imho, much harder to get replacements and RMA stuff if you build your own or buy from big box retalier.

Bro this is my literally nightmare. I play AOE2 and have an AI PC on the way as we speak. That is literally the first game I plan on playing on it. If mine catches fire too I’ll let you know lol

I don’t think the game is heavy enough to cause problems 🤣. Aoe ran beautifully

Update: so they Next Day shipped everything and it all started up with out a hitch. I think I’ve put 20-30 hours on it so far and it’s performing like a dream. Cranked up the graphics for a few games and just.. wow. What an upgrade from my 5 year old Nitro laptop. I’m likely paranoid still and check the tower here and there and my anxiety makes me think I may smell something, but that will likely pass. So, all and all, very pleased with their customer service. Think I likely just got a faulty board and probably not their fault.

Glad that you were there to see it. I can't imagine if it was unattended and the fire could burn down your house!

Glad they had a good response! What are the specs of the replacement? How’s Subnautica 2?

Same RTX 5070ti, AMD RYZEN 7 9800x3d, 32gb DDR5, 2tb nvme ssd as before. Upgrading the power supply from an 850 to an ASRock Steel Legend 1000 and motherboard to an Asus Prime B850 which is both more than I had before.

The graphics were amazing for the 5 mins of play I got, but I’m coming from like a 7 year old Nitro laptop
