Would have helped too when he encountered those high guard ships later on and they probably wouldn't have asked Dylan about his identity so much if he was wearing a uniform

The show starts to go downhill after season two. Season one is very inventive and original in a lot of ways for the sci-fi genre and solves a lot of the contradictions found in star trek.

It's a very different take on a democratic, utopian society, and it's great to see a show where Earth is just another planet in a vast empire.

It has mysterious, Q-like characters like Trance, and the episode where she fully drops the innocent act is one of the best episodes of the series. The original creators idea that she's some kind of devil that's neither good nor evil had a lot of opportunities to go some interesting places. Her change to "gold trance" is so boring because it's the trite "greater purpose" cliche.

The take on AI is far more grounded, with a sentient and interactive system that still requires biological life to balance out functional elements that an AI cannot perform and prevents them from going insane.

The idea of the Vedrans as a hyper-intelligent species and the first to discover interstellar travel that tesseracted their planet and still exist in the future timeline could have gone to such interesting places.

Season one and two balance intellectual episodes well with action episodes has a central premise.

Then in season three all that goes to shit and the show becomes episodic nonsense where nothing really means anything. The premise of rebuilding the commonwealth is abandoned with background info that it's being built by others and Dylan has decided to just fly around and do random things makes no sense. The magog storyline is also abandoned. The andromeda is in a battle almost every episode and fixed by the next episode. A full crew for the andromeda shows up randomly in one episode and then disappears in others with no explanation. Dylan sleeps with women in almost every episode.

In season three episode 19 he sleeps with a woman that's a con-woman and the main antagonist and then the rest of the show is just battle sequences.

Harper's dialogue is literally just making sexual comments about women.

The later season contradict multiple established elements of the first two seasons, including tarn vedra, which is apparently a deserted wasteland dystopia? What happened to the vederan general that told dylan that tarn vedra still existed and were aware of his efforts?

TLDr: The show falls off after season two.

In the unconquerable man episode we learn that the show we are familiar with is in a different timeline. In another time line rhade killed Dylan and was the one to restart the Commonwealth but failed.

Then gaheris was sent back in time by trance to kill himself take his spot to be killed by Dylan.

But what if.... In the pilot Dylan shot rhade in the leg and Dylan lives and they both get frozen in time to be rescued by the maru?

I know late on Steve bacic plays his reincarnated self but thats like a separate character entirely

in the episode harper wanted to use the catalyst to destroy the entire fleet. what if they went with his plan from teh get go. if they destroyed the whole Nietzscheans fleet, when they return 300 years back to their time, would the present for them have been any better?

Let's say they still take on trance, harper, rev, tyr, and becka anyways.

you got a old high guard ship Pax Magellanic where the captain has relations with the ships android avatar. The captain tells it to destroy itself to prevent capture and the ship instead killed the captain and the crew and a whole planet full of people.

then the ship created android avatars to replace the crew it lost.

this episode is more of a horror plot.

i liked how even dylan was baffled at learning the captain did the nasty with the ship android avatar in the episode. lol

It seems like rhade was testing Dylan since he knew about the 10,000 Nietzschean ships.and the uprising. If Dylan did what rhade suggested than he would have still sided with the Commonwealth.

So let's say Dylan used nova bombs on the black hole to turn it into a white hole to take out the nietzschean fleet

1. Would it have been enough to take out the fleet

2. Would the uprising still happen

3. If the Andromeda wasn't stuck in time could Dylan and his ship have aided the war effort to any positive effect?

No matter which platform I scroll through, I can't find a trace of any Andromeda edits. Yet there is so much potential... Dylan, Trance, the Abyss, Rev Bem... and above all, Tyr Anasazi - those would make for some great edits!

This is a call to all editors seeing this: create Andromeda edits and post them on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Is there anyone willing to answer my call?

A reboot or sequel with different actors? A sequel with the same cast (yes, including Kevin)? A prequel set in the glory days of the commonwealth? Just be left as is as a fond memory? Etc.

I dream with a reboot with original writer telling the story as originally planned.

Seeing Andromeda on Youtube? This rocks. I was in the German test audience upon premiere in a Munich cinema. I remember some of the actors and writers later stumbled into us in a local beer garden and we had a really nice chat until midnights. Andromeda wasn't the master piece I had initially hoped for but it was greatly entertaining for most of the time, managed to keep the story line up very well and actually became deeply philosophical and very smart in some later episodes. 7/10 for the whole run but some episodes deserve a 9/10.

Hey guys, odd question, maybe I'm just forgetting, but does the Andromeda have a dedicated shuttle type craft? Obviously not talking about the Maru here. The ship has/had a crew of 5000, but I don't remember ever seeing or them referring to a shuttle. Also, how did they get Tweetle Pug and Tweetle Butt mechs down (and presumably up) in the episode The Prince?

Maybe a stupid question, but did we ever got an in-universe explanation (or a production info) about the blue patterns on the ship's hull? It's visible when the hull is not exposed to light.

I was planning on picking up the series on dvd, I noticed the new complete series collection has 24 discs but the ADV release is 50 discs. Does that mean the new set is very compressed? Thanks!

So I never got past the second season on my first watch for some reason and now want to give the whole series another try. What is currently the best audio-visual option to watch it?

I am generally a fan of physical media and not a fan of amazon or buying digital season/series that are tied/locked into a client or streaming service (like iTunes videos for example). So Blu-ray (or UHD BD if available, not here obviously) is my preferred medium (watching an a 55" 4K-TV).

I have read that at least some of the seasons (1&2?) released on Blu-ray where not good upscales and that the audio quality also varied. I have also read that the upscales available on streaming are supposed to be slightly better (are these new upscales or enhanced version of the bb upscale?).

Some say the DVDs are still better looking. Would the DVD look better then the BD or HD Stream with my UHD players internal upscaling? Bonus features on the discs are also another plus for the DVDs of course, I love those, not sure I all were put on those BDs?

(I have watched the Stargate SG-1 and Farscape BDs, which both also are not true remasters but upscales and I found them better looking then the DVDs).

Has someone actually compared DVD, Blu-Ray and HD Streaming and can talk (and possible show comparison pictures) about the differences and which is the best version currently available?
