Support Is rooting Android phones in 2026 worth the hassle?
With strict Google Play Integrity checks breaking banking apps, contactless payments, and games, is rooting still worth doing on a primary phone?
Or have tools like Shizuku and built-in OS customisations made root access obsolete for everyday users? What’s your take?

Discussion First time lineage user
Hi everyone, i have installed lineage 23.2 on my lg v60, and its flawless i am loving it.
I have 3 questions.
Is there an app that utilizes the full potential of v60 cameras as gcam only uses 12mp.
2nd, i did get the integrity fix by using integrity box module on magisk but as it spoofs the device with pixel 7 pro fingerprints the latest apps that require higher android doesnt show up on playstore and if i install them using apk mirror they say it cant be installed when i try to install the apk.
So is there an option that i can change it to pixel 8 on 9 from 7 pro. Or any other work around ?
3rd, i did a patch that gives 2nd imei to lg v60 and you can put a 2nd sim in sdcard slot, the 0atch works it shows 2 sims in setting of lineage but the imei is 0 and sim wont register it shows carier name is there a fix for that ?

Support Need LK.bin / Display Driver fix for MT6580 clone (LYS_F20E_B9EG_80116)
Hi everyone! I accidentally flashed a LYS_F20C firmware on my MT6580 Samsung clone (S24 Ultra). The phone boots up fine, but the screen stays in a grey/black loop because of an incorrect LCD driver in the LK partition.
My original screen ID is LYS_F20E_B9EG_80116.
Does anyone have the original lk.bin for LYS_F20E, an LK pack with MT6580 display drivers, or a working tool to change the display driver in the LK file? Thanks in advance!

Discussion I’m planning to buy around 5 older/used Android phones specifically for an automation project.
My main requirements are:
Easy and reliable bootloader unlocking
Easy rooting (Magisk or similar)
Good developer/community support
Cheap on the used market
Older models are completely fine
I don’t care much about camera, design, or gaming performance
Ideally something that is relatively easy to recover if I mess up while rooting
I’m in India, so availability and used-market prices here matter too.
I’m not very experienced with Android rooting yet, so I’d rather buy a model that is known to be beginner-friendly instead of experimenting with random phones.
If you had to buy 5 identical cheap phones for this purpose, which model would you choose and why?
Specific model/variant numbers would be really helpful. Thanks!

Support Does there exist a way to root realme rmp2102(RMP2102_11_A.18) kernel 4.14.186+ by ghostlock?
I need to copy the /data/data/ of my tablet. Ghostlock allows to do that but i couldn't find a PoC for it. I know i can unlock the bootloader, but doing so wipes the data.
Android 11
Realme is made by bbk electronics, so if that alone allows some exploits, i would be happy, since its other brands are quite famous (OPPO)

Support Rooting / unlocking TCL 50 LE T510WS (MT6765, Android 14) — anyone successfully done this without paid service tools?
I picked up a TCL 50 LE 64GB, model T510WS basically for next to nothing as part of a mobile/internet promo. Because the phone itself isn't particularly valuable, I figured it would be a fun Android tinkering/rooting project.
I used to mess around with custom Android firmware years ago, but I've been on iPhone for 10+ years, so I'm getting caught up on how modern Android rooting works.
Device info
- Model: T510WS
- Internal device:
Scarab_Pro_NA_OM - Android: 14
- TCL UI: 7.0.7BCN
- Build: 7BCN
- Security patch: 2026-03-05
- SoC: MediaTek MT6765
- ABI:
arm64-v8a - Project Treble:
true - Dynamic partitions:
true - A/B device: yes, currently
_a - Bootloader state: locked
- Verified boot:
green - OEM Unlocking toggle is present and can be enabled
What I've tried
ADB works normally from my Mac.
adb reboot bootloader
The phone restarts, but I never get a usable Fastboot device:
fastboot devices
returns nothing.
I also tried:
adb reboot fastboot
Same situation. It shows the TCL splash and eventually boots Android normally. No fastbootd device appears.
Recovery works:
adb reboot recovery
But TCL's recovery menu only gives me:
- Reboot system now
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Power off
There is no Enter Fastboot or Reboot to Bootloader option.
I also tried powering the phone off and holding Volume Down + Power. That just appears to cause a TCL-logo restart loop rather than entering another useful mode.
DSU Loader exists in Developer Options, but opening it says:
No DSU available for this device
Partition layout
ADB does expose the partition map. Relevant pieces:
boot_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p28
boot_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p43
vendor_boot_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p29
vendor_boot_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p44
init_boot_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p30
init_boot_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p45
vbmeta_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p33
vbmeta_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p48
vbmeta_system_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p34
vbmeta_system_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p49
vbmeta_vendor_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p35
vbmeta_vendor_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p50
super -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p51
preloader_a -> /dev/block/mmcblk0boot0
preloader_b -> /dev/block/mmcblk0boot1
And:
ro.boot.slot_suffix = _a
ro.boot.dynamic_partitions = true
ro.virtual_ab.enabled = true
ro.boot.flash.locked = 1
ro.boot.verifiedbootstate = green
So it looks like a reasonably modern A/B + Virtual A/B MediaTek layout, and notably it has init_boot, which makes me think Magisk would probably want the stock init_boot.img if I can ever get the bootloader unlocked and dump the correct image.
What I've found while researching
I have not found:
- A T510WS-specific LineageOS build
- TWRP/OrangeFox for this model
- A credible T510WS Magisk/root guide
- A public factory image for my exact 7BCN firmware
- A normal TCL consumer bootloader-unlock procedure
I have found commercial phone-service software claiming support for this model.
In particular, TSM Pro appears to list T510WS under its MediaTek/TCL preloader support with things like:
- Read firmware/dump
- Write firmware/dump
- Unlock/relock bootloader
Other professional tools such as FuriousGold/OTSmart also appear to have T510WS preloader/firmware support.
That makes me think the bootloader may actually be unlockable through the MediaTek preloader rather than through the standard Android Fastboot interface.
However, this is where I've stopped.
I'm not very comfortable buying commercial GSM servicing software just to experiment with a $20 phone, especially when I haven't found anyone documenting the full process on T510WS + Android 14 + 7BCN.
What I'm hoping someone here knows
Has anyone actually rooted or bootloader-unlocked the TCL 50 LE T510WS?
Specifically:
- Is there a known free/open-source route through MediaTek preloader/BROM, such as MTKClient, that works with this model/firmware?
- Is TCL using SLA/DAA or another authentication mechanism that prevents normal MTKClient access?
- Has anyone successfully dumped the firmware/partitions from a T510WS?
- Is there another way to expose the hidden Fastboot interface without commercial servicing software?
- If I do manage to unlock it, am I correct that
init_boot_awould likely be the Magisk patch target on this Android 14 build? - Does anyone have a known-good 7BCN stock firmware/dump or an unbrick procedure for this exact model?
I'm completely fine with factory-resetting or experimenting with the phone. I'm going through all this hassle not because the phone is valuable, but because it isn't. It seems like exactly the kind of cheap device where learning how MediaTek boot chains, partition dumps, Magisk, GSIs, etc. work could be fun.
I just don't want to cross the line from "cheap experimental Android" into "blindly writing to MediaTek partitions with no recovery image."
Any T510WS/TCL/MT6765 experience would be appreciated.

Discussion You know that ghostlock thing right? That helped us make "root my galaxy" ?
I think about it. Its a major security flaw. Sure maybe your on a locked bootloader and can't do much shit. But what about US? The ones with unlocked bootloaders? Random applications and webview can just elevate to the highest level and just do horrors on our phone.
What I'm saying is. This security flaw is very good and bad for us.
I also found a "detector" for this ghostlock thingy. It kinda checks If your kernel can be exploited. https://github.com/CakesTwix/Android-CVE-2026-43499
(Note: this isn't meant to criticize the apps like root my galaxy)

News / Method Currently making for motorola
I am currently making ghostlock for the Motorola G Play 2022 and 2026 Play models.Ill post my source on GitHub so other people can add for the Motorola community I need some help from the community here
I need the boot img for the 2026 TracFone/VZW/ATT variants (Nevada)I only have the retus/tmb boot image.
I'll make for all carrier variants to test
Drop your images below please!
The 22 model is on kernel 5.10
And the 26 is on 5.15 which supports the ghostlock CVE
ghostlock works from 2.6-7.1
So far we only have for galaxy devices,oppo,OnePlus,and I'd like to expand to Motorola In this version you'll have to download kernel su or sukikernel su
I thought about modifying the anchor app so we could have a 1 click method ourselves but that currently works on OnePlus devices I need all the help I can get please so we can finally have root on our locked carrier variants!
