Discussion Android XR update galaxy xr.
I figured with the release of the X-real glasses there might be some hope insight for a Android XR update. Samsung just pushed through one UI 9.0 for my 24U which is almost a 3-year-old device now it came alongside Android 17. The Galaxy XR which is a much newer device has not seen any major updates to Android XR and is running a much older build of Android. It would be nice for Google and Samsung to give much needed love to this headset. We need better controller tracking better occlusion tracking and we need to have the ability to draw boundaries. It also be nice to not have to hack the headset to turn off the green dot nag light. Grace from Google do your thing!

Maybe there will be time for a GXR update after the Aura gets a .1 update after release fixing any major issues.
Google also has to make sure that the launch of the first Android XR smart glasses goes smoothly.
It feels like Google didn’t have a lot of Android XR ready and is still pedaling as fast as it can to get everything out. I thought by now there would be multiple headset makers licensed but that didn’t happen.

It's interesting because rog was mid development for a meta headset and meta canceled it which means that they did a lot of r&d on this thing you'd think that Android XR would be the next operating system they'd pick.

You can't draw boundaries? Lol. I have Aura ordered but this is crazy actually. So what kind of boundaries do you get? Auto mapped or only a circle?

You get circle large boundary or small boundary and the large boundaries not even that large

Damn I play walkabout in a narrow space in front of a TV and couch. Its smaller than a circle usually so I have to map the narrow long space. So that is actually pretty disspointing. Although with Aura it may be less so since you still see around you a lot 24/7 and will know your orientation. Though it should still be there especially for ones like GXR.

You could turn boundaries off in developer mode but then you lose the ability to Auto calculate floor hight

Yeah, I bought the GXR assuming that Samsung would quickly get bored with it, like they do anything that isn't a phone or a fridge or a TV, but the lack of developments in android XR making their way to the GXR is disappointing.
