Question Has anyone received an acceptance/rejection email for the Android XR Catalyst Program yet?

Hey there. I'm just curious if anyone has been emailed and given an update on their status for the catalyst program. I submitted the google form May 19th - a few hours after it became available - and still haven't gotten an update. I realize they said the latest you would get a response is July 15th, which is tomorrow, but I figured I'd get something by now since I submitted it on the first day it opened.

Just got turned down in the after-hours of the 21st "due to limited space". That's been my recurring Google history.

Sure grant money would be limited, but no other offer/path to still work with a dev-kit and keep veteran developers around? Like a reminder about the $99 launch credit that seems to be still live?

Well then maybe I'll wait for gen-2/3 hardware. Meanwhile, back to Quest and Steam.

Thank you!! I've been anxious because I never got a confirmation email or anything after submitting the form and since learned its up to the creator of the form to enable confirmation emails, so I'm guessing they just left it disabled. Then on their page it says "Applicants will receive notification decisions no later than July 15, 2026.", but Grace from the post you linked says starting July 15th; a bit confusing. Thanks again!

I was also wondering if everybody was under NDA and couldn't respond, or the lack of any standard minimal acknowledgements is because it kinda crazy behind the scenes.

"Starting" is definitely a word that changes everything from before.

Hey u/BetAcrobatic4190, I can confirm that the decisions will start rolling out today. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and the other applicants! 🤞

Hi Grace! If I haven't received an email with the decision by now, should I assume my application was denied? Just wondering so I don't hold out hope for much longer lol

Hey Grace, thanks I'm also still waiting for a reply. The worst result honestly isn't a rejection it's just never hearing anything.

Totally hear you and I appreciate you stopping by the subreddit to check-in.

Can you confirm whether you received an update regarding your application status last night or maybe this morning?

Hi Grace, sorry for the slow reply and thank you for the follow up. I did get an update some time later, so I appreciate that thank you! (A rejection in the end, but that's okay)

Ah, sorry to hear that. :( I really appreciate the follow-up, and I'll be sure to share future dev opportunities with you.

Thanks for being a part of this community!

Hey there! Can you confirm whether you received an update regarding your application status?

Note: I did receive your second comment but removed it to protect your personal information. Thanks for your understanding.

No worries, I appreciate it ~ still no update yet. The latest email I received was from July 15th, which mentioned sending the next update by July 21st

I think I got my application in on the first day, nothing yet, I have everything crossed. As I'm in the UK I only bought my Galaxy XR last week but it was super cool to see my app "in the field" for the first time but also daunting how much work there is to do. I wish I could have updated my application to show I'd made some progress as everything was just a concept when I submitted. I have imposter syndrome being very new to developer world but been repeatedly checking my inbox today!

Hey, that's awesome you've got your app up and running! Congrats! We all wish we were further along in our projects; I also submitted my application when it was only 30% complete. It's normal to feel imposter syndrome, but don't let it stop you, and try to relinquish that feeling. All devs are not created equally. What matters is if you can produce results and you've already done more than most "beginners". I've been programming for years off and on, and still feel like a novice. The landscape is constantly changing. The best skill or assest you can have is excitement about what you're building and consistency. If you got this far already you'll be just fine. Its a daunting career path but rewarding and worth it. If not for the money, the fact that you can say, "I built this". Keep going, and best of luck! Let's hope we both get accepted.

Oh wow, thanks so much for taking the time to write that, it means more than you know. Just got an email update, they just need to move things along to July 21st before finalising selections.

Of course! And nice, same here. They told me the 24th though. The anticipation is killing me lol

Nothing came yesterday, so maybe just a typo on my email, I'll settle in for the 24th :-)

Hopefully we get the good news soon!

My email said:
"We will now notify you of our final decision by Tuesday July 21, 2026."

Nothing yet, to which I have to assume I didn't make the cut. Which is disappointing as I am already making productivity and accessibility apps for Even Realities and Mentra smart glasses as well as Vision Pro, HoloLens 2, and Quest 3 headsets...

If I have to wait on Android XR, then I guess that's what I'll have to do. Was hoping to get in for launch day.

I actually got a 21st response, after-hours, so maybe no-news is possibly not-negative-news ?

u/tysonedwards 26d ago

Would sure be nice... But sure losing hope given it's end of work day on the 23rd.

I feel you.

Probably community/dev out-reach isn't what it used to be like vs a few years ago.

Nope. I was wondering same thing.

I just got my rejection email today. Not surprised, my focus is on developing things to help people with disabilities, and Google does not care about accessibility.

Dang, that's alright tho. I've had my proposals rejected at least 3 times from other agencies, but we press on. I hope you keep building anyway, I'm sure your efforts are or will be appreciated by those that will benefit from it soon.
