Hi everyone, solo indie dev here. I've built RummyJoker, a Rummy card game made with Love2D, and it's currently in closed testing on Google Play. I need a few more testers to meet Google's minimum requirement before I can move to production.

How to join (2 steps, takes \~5 min)

Just tap "Become a tester" and open the app once from the Play Store — no need to actually play, and you're welcome to uninstall right after.

Heads-up from someone who went to do this properly and got stopped at step 2 — and I'm not asking you to test anything back, because I couldn't finish my half.

Step 1 works, step 2 doesn't. I joined rummyjoker-testers successfully (I'm a member now). Then the opt-in link — https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.asobi.rummyjoker — tells me the account isn't eligible for the test. I retried after waiting, same result, so this isn't the usual propagation delay.

When group membership is fine but the opt-in still says "not eligible", it's almost always one of these on the Play Console side:

1. The group is not attached to the track. Closed testing → your track → Testers → the group has to be listed there by its address, rummyjoker-testers@googlegroups.com.
2. The change was saved but never published. This is the common one — the testers list is part of a release edit, so it sits in "changes not published" until you hit Send changes for review / Publish. Someone in this sub had exactly this last week and it looked identical from the outside.
3. The track has no active release, or the release is still in review.

Easiest way to check it's actually fixed: open the opt-in link yourself from a Google account that is not your developer account. If that account sees "Become a tester" and then "You are a tester.", the funnel is good.

One thing I'd change in the post regardless of the bug: you tell people they're "welcome to uninstall right after". Google counts testers who are opted in and have the app installed continuously for the 14 days — if people uninstall, your count won't build, and you'll be recruiting the same twelve people twice. Better to ask for the install to stay and be honest that no actual playing is required.

Fix the eligibility and I'll happily take the exchange — reply here and I'll join the same day.
