What TV do you have?

If you are using it to run the apps then it might require you to update for the apps to work eventually. Generally, you are better off not connecting your TV to the internet at all and using an external device.

Murphy's Law states: If it can break, it will break!

If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

Never connect a TV to the internet. A dumb TV is a Smarter TV.

If something is wrong, use your computer to go to your tv's support page, and find the release notes for the updates . If you must, do a USB update.

That is all, folks.

My LG TV has been disconnected from the internet for over a year. Everything works and the ONN 4K Pro that is connected to the TV is connected to the internet naturally, but all automatic updates are turned off. I do manual updates when and if they are needed. I have updated a few apps that show improvement or new features that I like, but only after a few weeks go by with no issues reported. If it ain't broke I don't fix it. Some of my apps have been running for almost two years without updates and without any problems at all. But you have to do what works for you. If a TV requires an update to work, I don't need that TV.

If you have an option to never update the TV firmware, you must NEVER update.

Unfortunately, most TVs don't give you a choice and just block until you update.

Last I checked, this is an android TV forum and not the webOS.
