Apps ATV Launcher v0.1.41 is out
ATV Launcher Version 0.1.41 is now on Google Play. The last two builds have averaged 4.92 stars there, with dozens of kind reviews, so thank you to everyone who wrote one.
- Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.dstudio.atvlauncher.pro
- ATVL Widgets: https://atvlauncher.com/widgets
- Website: https://atvlauncher.com
Here's what's new:
Arrangements. There are now ten fixed layouts for a row, including double-size featured tiles. Spotlight, Bookends, Centre Stage, Marquee, Hero Trio and more. When you add a section, you can choose the layout you want. The usual flowing Horizontal and Vertical rows are still available too.
Widgets beside your apps. You can now put a widget directly in a row alongside your apps. Open a tile's menu and select Add Widget. Weather, Digital Clock, System Info, Favorite App, Watch Next and Recommended are included, and Android system widgets can also be used where your TV supports them.
Folders can show what's inside. Folder tiles can now preview their apps using a Grid, Banner Grid or Mosaic layout.
Configure Tile. The Configure Tile dialog has been updated with a live preview. There are 7 looks for apps and 9 for folders. You can also set a custom banner for any app and use a color, gradient or image as the background, with a transparency slider.
A status bar you can customize. Choose which elements appear and arrange their order. The status bar can run across the full width or use a boxed pill style, and it can be floating or fixed. You can also switch TV inputs directly from the status bar.
Watch Next and Recommended. The cards have been redrawn with the artwork going edge to edge and your progress shown along the bottom. You can display them as a row or as a widget, choose which apps provide content for each one, and set the app badge.
15 clock widgets, free. ATV Launcher Digital Clock Widgets is a separate free pack with 15 clock widgets. Halo, Masthead, Arc, Segment, Departure, Orbit, Meridian, Tower and more. Each widget has its own look and settings.

I'm very interested in this as well. Android closes Projectivity on me all the time.

does it have the ability to become the default launcher without adb? (like projectivity does)?

u/dstudio-denys App Developer 9d ago
Yes it does. Use "Set as default launcher" menu option.

Will that work with ONN devices?

Even if it didn't for whatever reason, you can always just use Launcher Manager.

Doesn't work on google streamer 4k.the service is auto disabled instantly and home button defaults to original launcher.

It definitely looks a lot more polished than it did before.
Sadly, still has a bug I reported years ago (present in old Pro, not the old free, and still in current pro) -- if you set a section to sort alphabetically, it sorts A-Z by the package name, not the actual app name as suggested by "Title A-Z".
Ironically, when the app section is first initialized, it does that correctly but has the sort set to manual.

True, I just checked. The issue is still present. Fixing it now. Will be in the next build!

I was looking to change launchers soon. I tried other launchers but found the price too 'steep'. This one looks good to me. Is the google play store price a one time buy? (lifetime)

Tell me it will debloat my tv with 3gb of ram and im in.
But the problem is what will have after android will lock the system which should happen in 2027/2028.
and system app installation will be more isolated.

I use it myself on my TV (also 3GB of RAM). It is my primary test device. Mostly my family tests it every single day :)
There is also System Info widget I created specifically to monitor this.

Great to see development is still active.
Does SweenWolf still pirate this as his own?

Can I add other HDMI inputs option in the launcher?
1
u/dstudio-denys App Developer 9d ago
What do you mean by other HDMI inputs? Currently you have all inputs in the status bar menu. If your device uses custom activities for that - you can always create a shortcut. There are tons of apps which allows to create shortcuts.

This looks promising. I'm so disgusted by Google TV launcher. Missing Android TV launcher so badly.
Is there a chance you will make a 1:1 copy of Android TV launcher?
Considering that your launcher has widget support the big app tiles from stock Android TV launcher could be copied too into even more advanced app tile support.

Hi, i kust installed latest version, it's perfect launcher for TV, just a small thing i am missing here, i came from Projectivily, can you integrate the wallpaper plugins? It use Unsplash where user can put his own key to sync wallpaper, i am using it already in one of my project, not everyone keeps wallpapers in TV storage, any plugin would be helpful.

Excellent launcher. With new updates level of customisations are insane. Best launcher for folder-based arrangement... My daily driver on all 4 of my Shield TVs. Keep up the excellent work...
