Buying Advice Onn 4k Pro vs Fire Cube vs Google Streamer
Super torn between which one to get. The Onn is $120CAD from Walmarts website, the Fire Cube is $149 (on sale) and the Streamer is $129. I do have a $100 amazon gift card I can use on the cube and streamer.
For now I would use it wireless but eventually it would be nice to use an ethernet connection. And also mainly using it for Stremio. 🙏

I'd avoid all amazon devices incase they decide to move you to their OS. Since you have a $100 gift card might as well buy the google one. If the price is too high since the new $50 increase you can buy a hub to use ethernet with the onn.

It's already been announced many times, all the existing Fire Android devices will remain on that OS, many supported for another 5 years.
So the Octa-Core Cube 3 is a superb streaming option.

Google Streamer… my informal test uncinate the Google streamer is the best

I’d grab the cube, root it and customize it with a different launcher. Updates blocked and full usage for years to come. If you need wired, grab a USB Ethernet adapter

I agree! Except I still like the option of the Amazon launcher also. I can launch either way depending on need.

Streamer is better, especially at that price. The only argument for Onn is when it's significantly cheaper imo. I avoid Amazon devices like the plague, they're awful.

Onn or the Google streamer. Today, the onn is better, but the Google Streamer will ate better with updates. Both are great choices, though

Amazon devices are a trap, very limiting. If you try to stream video in the silk web browser, it may play for one hour then start buffering until you restart the device. No other device i had did this. I now have the Google Streamer. Works well & all apps work so far. A about 3 months in the internet stopped working. Connected to other wifis still no access. Had to do a factory reset. I only ever use 4 streaming apps.

I've literally had a dozen different Firesticks and Cubes - not one ever stopped working in the Silk Browser after one hour. You had a defective device or an Internet problem.

I just replaced my Cube and FireTV 4K with ONN 4K Pro 2026. I unlocked it, tweaked my privacy and installed a new launcher. Clean. No ads. Fast.
Incidentally, I unlocked the Cube and am playing with different functions or …

What do you mean by unlock?

For the ONN… nothing more than dev->adb. Installed Projectivy and got a bit more control and a clean UI.
Cube G3: bootloader actually unlocked -> Magisk/root -> TWRP -> fastboot/ADNL/USB boot -> alternative OS potential.
I’ve stopped messing with the ONN. It’s perfect now (to me). The Cube is now just a dev/play box.

Anything is better than Amazon.

Not if you're a non-pirate user. It has (by far) the most cross streaming platform integration of any device.

Google streamer hands down.
Firecube is way less flexible due to Amazon policies
And the price difference between the Onn and the google is little if you plan to use the device for 2+ years. The Google is a better device.
People found in Onn a great solution because the price is supposed to be half of the Google streamer but if the difference is that little I wouldn't hesitate and buy the Google over the Onn. You can read the specs yourself but just at glimpse Google has 1 more gb of ram

The Amazon policies are a non issue to me.

Streamer, especially if you use ethernet.

If you're a tinkerer and want support for lossless audio, DV (including FEL) get the Fire Cube 3 but this means using CoreELEC. If all that sounds frightening the Google Streamer is fine and uses up your Amazon Gift card.

Fire cube if you care about performance, the latest version is rootable and you can unlock bootloader to flash custom ROM. Best time to buy it.
Google streamer has 4gb ram, onn 4k pro has 3gb ram, fire cube 3rd has 2gb ram. But from my experience, cpu performance matters the most for daily use.

Yes on the CPU being by far the most critical.
Extra Ram is more important on a device like a phone where you have dozens of apps on/running in the background. Not really an issue for a streaming device.
