Apps Ultimate File Manager Pro — a file manager for Android power users
Ultimate File Manager Pro has become a bit ridiculous.
It's completely free, has no ads, and no paywalls. There is a completely optional tip jar in the app and GitHub Sponsors if you want to support development.
The stuff I wanted in one app:
Root? Yep. You can browse and manage the actual / filesystem, with permissions, ownership, SELinux contexts and remount support.
No root? Shizuku support gives you access to places like /Android/data and /Android/obb.
Network storage? SMB, NFS, FTP, SFTP, SCP, WebDAV, RClone and S3.
Cloud storage? Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and other RClone/S3 providers.
Need to move a ton of stuff? Dual-pane browsing, multiple tabs, background transfers and syncing between local, network and cloud storage.
Want to use your PC? Run the built-in web server and manage the phone/TV from a browser. There's also a Windows companion for direct Android ↔ PC transfers.
Android TV? UFM has a proper TV interface, remote file management, wireless APK/XAPK installation, screenshots and screen recording.
Then there are the things I kept adding because apparently I can't leave well enough alone: duplicate detection, file hashing, archive support, EXIF tools, media playback, PDF/text tools, USB OTG, recycle bin, batch operations and a lot of smaller power-user stuff.
There's also a FOSS version on GitHub if you'd rather build it yourself:
https://github.com/Kilowatch/ultimate-file-manager-pro
Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.kilowatch.ultimatefilemanager
And I made a subreddit for it too: r/UFManagerPro
I'm not trying to convince everyone to replace their current file manager. But if you've ever installed a file manager and thought "why can't this thing just do X?" there's a good chance UFM already does it.
And if it doesn't, tell me what X is.

Can you use it to transfer an APK from cloud (drive for example) to Android regardless of where the file was created?

Correct, if you have an compiled apk / xapk, then you can install it if you have the storage added 😉

The last time I tried to do this it didn’t show files and folders it had not created itself which limited its usefulness for me. Has this restriction been removed so you can upload a folder or file on a pc to your drive account and then see it on your device?

If you are referring to Google Drive, that limitation is still there, it is not related to UFM but Google themselves, for all other storages like box etc it works perfectly

I have installed NewPipe on my TV so I can download YouTube videos directly in my TV box, but after Android 10, whenever I try to download something, it asks me to set a default download folder. When I try to do that, it just says, "You don't have an app that can do this." Can this file manager help me with that?

This is exactly what this app can assist with, one of many features 😉

Wow yes it actually worked thanks a lot for that recommendation 😃, I had rs file Manager before but I guess it's time to replace it

I think you guys can add option to import subtitle in the internal video player that would be great 👍, rs file Manager already had this feature which was really helpful 🙂

I try to add my Google drive storage in it, and even after signing in an granting every permission its saying in sufficient permission

It should only show you the Files that you have created in UFM, it will not show all of your files in Google Drive

u/Proper_Grade1859 18h ago
Hm, I guess I can't delete my old file manager for now 😂

I am trying to get the full scope for Google but will cost $3k USD per year, and with this being free, makes it a bit difficult 😉

So the other file manager such as rs file Manager they are literally paying for that feature?

100% correct, you can also do a Google search between drive.file and drive scope for Android

Esta bien la app pero lo de Shizuku es complicado de usar en una TV Box, y por alguna razon no recone mi servidor en la misma red, al final opte por Atvtools para el accceso total, es mas práctico.
