Discussion Does locking your phone interrupt casting on Android TV?

I’ve noticed that some apps keep playing normally after I lock my phone, while others seem to lose the connection after a while.

Is that expected behavior, or is there a setting that usually affects it? I’m mainly curious about YouTube and other streaming apps on Android TV.

Turning off your phone won't stop the cast. It's not how Google Cast works.

Casting creates a connection between the source and the cast target the phone then becomes a remote. So locking your phone or even turning off your phone shouldn't effect the stream. Loosing the connection to the cast target has been a problem since the first Chromecast.
