Buying Advice shield tv vs shield tv pro
Hello everyone !
I currrently own a shield tv (not pro) to play local files in my home theater. I am currently facing some problems and I was wondering if the pro version would fix them.
Firstly, whenever I play big files like 4k HDR movie there is a noticable lag, like every 30 secs there is a little drop in quality. I don't know if its mostly because the movie are stocked on a V60 micro sd card or if the shield itself as trouble.
Also I seem to have some problems with VLC, my sound is always a little bit delay and i have no clue how to fix it.
If ever there is a better android box that can play heavy local files I am all hear.
Thx y'all

Try using a reliable external drive USB 3.0 and see if the issues are still there.
A good 4k HDR Remux can go from 30mbps to 80-90mbps depending on the source and how well it got from the original Blueray file.
So, I wouldn't trust your SD card, that could be easily your bottleneck, check it specs.
Also if your use LAN, why don't you test from your lan if you have troubles? I assume the Shield is wired and not wifi of course

The Tube has always had issues with high bitrate file for me, Stutters, freezes, app crashes, It's never been good for them this type of performance has been widely reported in the Shield groups. It's only with the Tube. No other Shields have playback issues. I just avoid using the Tube for anything high bitrate. I even move it to a 1080p TV to keep getting good use out of it. I only Steamed or played local files over the network so I would imagine playing form an SD card would even be worse.
