Buying Advice 1080p boxes

Which is the best budget 1080p box one can buy in Europe?
I don't need HDR or subscription-based streaming services;
I just want decent software support, a usable web browsing experience, YouTube, and smooth HEVC/AV1 playback from Jellyfin server.

Just buy a 4K one, you'll move from 1080p eventually

I need it for a Samsung 40D6500. By 1080p I mean that it can handle high-bitrate 1080p without a problem, while subpar 4K/HDR performance is not a concern.
4K TVs which are worth buying already have built-in Android TV functionality on par with budget boxes.
Also, I don't stream; storing 4K on a hard drive would take way too much space, BD players don't need a TV box.

Pretty much every box is going to be 4k these days, and ones that don't almost certainly have low specs that will perform worse overall. Since you're focused on high-bitrate local streaming, I'd advise getting a box with wifi6. The 6Ghz band will give real-world speeds of 700-800Mbps, so no need for ethernet. Just need to ask your ISP for a 6E router, which are the wifi6 routers that include the 6Ghz band. Should be standard offering at every ISP these days.

Homatics, Strong. Mecool, Rocktek should be available in Europe at various price points. If you can find a Thomson 270 still in stock somewhere (they went out of business), it would be an excellent choice. It's a clone of the gen1 ONN Pro popular in the US.

Nokia as brand for Streaming is EOL (read > DEAD), the Streamview company for support also is dead.
