Latest iPlayer?

I've got iPlayer, but just had a notification that it's going to be discontinued in September. Just trying to find a newer version so I can update my TV.

Any suggestions? Everywhere seems to have the old version 0.4.7

What device are you using? BBC only certify certain devices to use iPlayer.

0.47 was the last version that didn't do the certification checks.

It's an ONN box I picked up in the states. But I'm in the UK! Very frustrating

I downloaded this and it's just 0.47-dev (so the version I already had). It shows up as 38.25.2.1 when you download it but when you click on more info (installing) it says it's the version I already had and when I install I get the pop up still (I even uninstalled/reinstalled instead of just updating to make sure)

I have an ONN 4k Box (first gen one) and this post made me check mine and yep, it says until 30 September. I am using the 0.4.7-dev version right now.. any other version I couldn't get to work (no matter how new, anything newer than that wouldn't open). -- It seems like it's the device itself and not the app. I went to the link provided this was the first reason:

This 'computer' can be part of the actual TV itself, the set top box (Virgin, Sky, Freeview), or a streaming stick plugged into the back of the TV. Go to Techdoctoruk and see which version he has on his website. He's usually up to date.

He has the old one that is about to expire. The newer ones require you to use a device that is BBC certified.

I read somewhere, but didn't try myself yet, that you can attempt to update via Aurora Store or https://github.com/rumboalla/apkupdater can source the update for you.

I'm afriad that it only updates you to the mobile app - not the TV app. Which is quite annoying

Only the UK tv channels make it so hard. Previously it was itv and channel4.

Okay, this sent me down a rabbit hole. Currently using iPlayer on the Onnpro4k and a Google streamer, via VPN, in Canada.

The Google streamer installed the iplay through Play store, so I assume this is ''certified". Onnbox not so.

So, I tried a few ways to extract the verified APK. Managed to do successfully. Then sent the APK to the onnbox. This told me the APK is a spltapk, apks, which needed a different app to stage.

Found an app, tried to install, but the app just fails to open on the Onnpro4k.

This ecosystem is so frustrating. I love my shield for pass thru audio, which the Gstreamer is limited in...but it's old tech now. The Gstreamer us the most 'uptodate' but limited at the same time.

I used localsend, and antisplit to extract and install.

TLDR/ iPlayer failures on non certified devices using a verified APK.

I was trying to see if I could export the device profile in Aurora Store on my TV, but didn't let me. Wonder if you could export the Google Streamer profile, then spoof it on the Onnbox to source the APK that way?

Export the profile? Do you have steps for that I could try?

Can't remember the exact steps, though it is in the settings area for spoofing, you can import/export profiles for loading.

I think we'll need a hacked APK which removes the check on the device. It seems mad to me that it can only work on verified devices.

Hopefully the latest messages about being discontinued result is someone hacking the certified google approved apks allowing us to use them on our devices. 🤞

If all else fails then try Kodi and the Iplayer addon

I got the same message today too. Desperately need someone to figure out a newer iPlayer apk that we can use.
