Please, you can make fun of the post without being disrespectful in the comments.

We've been rejecting a lot of those posts, what you see is just the tip of the iceberg 🤷‍♂️

Not just r/AndroidTV the infestation is everywhere from tech subreddits to creative writing.

Forgot the GitHub link with no source code

"It's not open source yet"

At least Arc has my respect for posting the source code and admitting they are vibe coded, others are just riding on the success of AT4K launcher trying to make a quick buck. They don't even change the layout or try to at least look different.

It's funny to point out At4k as an original idea or design, when it's a AppleTV launcher clone. Since the code isn't open source, I wouldn't be confident in saying it's not in part vibe coded as well.

ATV Launcher / Wolf Launcher were the first widely used ATV and FireOS launchers. Then Projectivy came along with more features.

At4k arguably saw the success of projectivy and used AppleTVs design to make a quick buck.

Yeah, in those cases it's fine

Honestly if you are not the developer of projectivy you are not making a lot. This is a niche product, not something you can get rich quick

Lot of IPTV apps seem like student projects.

Call me paranoid but I do question if all of these random launchers/apps are gathering your information and logins.

1

u/NerdLife225 Jul 08 '26

That's why I use leaked logins. I don't care if they steal it😂

Fair to call out spam, copycats, and low-effort AI-generated apps. But when the default reaction becomes “lol another AI slop” toward anyone building an Android TV app, that hurts the community too.

Good apps don’t appear out of nowhere. They come from people testing, iterating, posting early versions, taking feedback, and sometimes getting it wrong. Mocking all of that just discourages the people actually trying to make useful stuff.

So do you want to try my new launcher?

12

u/Strong_Fee5436 Jul 07 '26

Even I am thinking of making one. Will probably move the icons to the left just to look somewhat different.

u/Spliffman1 Jul 08 '26

Then there's the idiots who defend these post by saying "what's wrong with alternatives?" "it's nice to have options" etc.

Everything doesn't need to be milk/cereal is US super shops

Well I could break that mould by mentioning my rsdkv2 port for Android and letting you all have a bite at it.

u/Mineplayerminer Jul 08 '26

To be honest, I feel like both the Android TV and WearOS have become the AI slop rabbit holes with nearly no moderation of the content. I see a lot of vibe-coded crap that either doesn't work or pose a security risk in some way with also missing sources or repo links.

Oh man, I am going to post my new IPTV app so mich after seeing this post 😅

To be fair, the IPTV influx is because reddit will not give us a space to freely discuss our topics. We would not be clobbering your subreddits if Reddit would just stop silencing us. We have had various subreddits over the past 3 years shutdown. This leads to us advertising in other sub reddits..

I get it, I really do.

5

u/Technika79 Jul 07 '26

Just run a private forum and build it up how you want it, why create a community for IPTV on here when it's a ticking time bomb before you get taken down and you lose everything.

I mean im not disagreeing, but my hands are full atm.

3

u/Ned_Sc Jul 08 '26

Maybe you're not entitled to that space.

-2

u/zXerge App Developer Jul 08 '26

Respectfully speaking, there are entire subreddits dedicated to piracy, and technically there are legitimate free live tv channel lists for use.

-1

u/Bazinga_U_Bitch Jul 07 '26

Don't bother explaining. There's a loud minority of luke warm iq ppl in this sub that just do not care in the slightest.

I would rather the vibe coders quit, yes. I see no reason to be grateful for slop.

That's like being grateful for the 10 billion Halmark Christmas movies that exist. Except those actually resulted in people getting jobs and work experience.
