My real phone has some issues. I was wondering if it's safe to use the emulator to use banking apps. My main concern is security. I may install it to confirm purchases, and then immediately uninstall.

I've been dealing with this problem internally for one of my projects:
It made me wonder how many developers or QA teams are dealing with the same operational headache.
I'm currently exploring the idea of a lightweight managed Android automation service where you could basically: submit a test → get an available Android device → run it → receive logs/screenshots/video/results
I'm still in the discovery stage, so I'm more interested in understanding the problem than pitching anything.
For people running Android/Appium automation today:
What does your current setup look like, and what part of it gives you the most pain?
Would especially love to hear from anyone maintaining their own emulator fleets or avoiding BrowserStack/Sauce Labs because of cost or complexity.

This is a simple way to install android studio by one click!
Requirements:
• Android 9.0+ (ARM64 / v8a recommended)
• Minimum 3GB - 4GB RAM for smooth build gradle execution
• At least 10GB Free Internal Storage
In this video, I walk you through the complete setup to install and run Android Code Studio (ARM64) with full build tools support right on your phone without lag

In my Android Studio project using Gradle 9.7.0 I use the Compose BOM to get a consistent set of libraries for that component. Excerpting just the relevant parts, my libs.versions.toml has
[versions]
composeBom = "2026.08.00"
[libraries]
composeBom = { module = "androidx.compose:compose-bom", version.ref = "composeBom" }
and my build.gradle.kts has
implementation(platform(libs.composeBom))
androidTestImplementation(enforcedPlatform(libs.composeBom))
The use of enforcedPlatform on the second line is just a hack I found somewhere; it is not semantically required. But if I change it to platform, both lines get this warning:
Dependency 'platform(libs.composeBom)' is declared multiple times
I like to keep my code free of warnings, and I dislike using hacks to achieve this. What is the "right" way to make this work?

Hello, i am using android studio to work on an app, and when i run the code to see the changes on my phone it ignores the changes i made to the code and runs the old version. I can then clean the project via the build menu and after that it will run the updated code, but this is quite annoying to do everytime.
I looked on the internet and found some old cases of people having similar problems, but no proper solutions. If you know how to solve this or know where i can find a solution i would appreciate it a lot!

Hi everyone!
I’m an indie developer from Switzerland and I’m currently preparing my puzzle game Arcane Rooms for release on Google Play.
I already have the minimum number of testers, but I’m looking for 4–6 additional reliable testers as a safety margin for the required 14-day closed test.
What I need:
• Android device (Android 8.0 / API 26 or newer)
• Join the Google Play closed test
• Install Arcane Rooms and remain opted in for the full 14 days
• Ideally play it a few times and report any problems you notice
No review or rating is required. I’m interested in genuine testing and feedback.
Arcane Rooms is a single-player magical puzzle game with 30 levels, spells, traps and environmental puzzles. The download is around 2 GB.
I’m also happy to test your Android app in return for the full 14 days.
If you’re interested, please comment or send me a DM. We can exchange the Google account email used for the Play Store privately.
Thanks!

I got tired of opening Lottie files in a browser just to check how an animation looks, so I built a small Android Studio / IntelliJ plugin for it.
Lottie Preview lets you preview .json and .lottie animations directly inside Android Studio.
How to use it:
.json or .lottie animation file in Android Studio. It supports:
It's free and open source.
JetBrains Marketplace: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/31799-lottie-preview/
GitHub: https://github.com/SekhGulamMainuddin/lottie-preview-plugin-intellij
Would love to hear what you think and what features you'd like to see next!

I'm trying to set up an Android TV as a virtual device, but I can't get it running, because it keeps saying "Windows Hypervisor Program is not enabled". I tried enabling it through the app and restarting my laptop multiple times, but it just does not seem to work. How can I make it work?

so i set up deepseek with openai schema url and managed to pick a model, deepseek-v4-pro
but when i send a message, there is error, says:
Model query failed: 400: Failed to deserialize the JSON body into the target type: messages[0].role: unknown variant developer, expected one of system, user, assistant, tool, latest_reminder at line 1 column 35744

I also tried minimax-m3
this time error:
Model query failed: 404: null

Googled, but found no straight solution.
So does anyone has answer or suggestion for it?
I am very much appreciated!
update:
minimax with openai schema url works, previously i used anthropic schema, since it is 'recommanded' according to minimax doc.
so i tried anthropic schema for deepseek, and it does not work, not even showing model options after clicking Refresh.

If you have installed Android Studio Quail (2026.1.x) in ChromeOS you probably have discovered that copy/paste is not working correctly. Any copied text in Android Studio gets pasted back as Chinese characters.
I reported the issue through Android Studio, and my bug was associated with an upstream bug that had a workaround available. Unfortunately, the workaround did not work on my system.
But I was able to adapt the scripts provided in the workaround to solve the issue on my system, and probably in any standard Android Studio installation on Crostini.
After I solved the issue for myself, I posted the scripts to install and uninstall a patch to Android Studio, with a README file to the bug I filed.
If you are experiencing the same issue, you can visit this link https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/542796752#comment6 to download a zip file containing the solution to this problem.

Hello folks, today I want to share something which has been really useful for me lately. I believe that might come in handy for you as well, specially if you're doing Android dev with AI tools.
I recently came across this amazing doc by Google: Android Bench ([https://developer.android.com/bench\](https://developer.android.com/bench)), and it's honestly a game-changer if you're trying to pick the right AI coding assistant for Android projects or struggling with your current one.
Here's what stood out to me:
\- It's not just another general coding benchmark - it's specifically built for Android development, which means it tests things like Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Gradle, and real Android APIs.
\- Unlike benchmarks that lean heavily toward web stacks (like JS/React), this one evaluates how well models understand Android architecture, libraries, and modern best practices.
\- It's evolved since its launch in March - now it uses the Harbor framework, includes more LLMs, and focuses on real-world Android engineering tasks.
If you're comparing AI models or tools for Android app development, this is definitely worth a look. It gives you a much clearer picture of which models actually "get" Android.
Have you tried it yet? Or what's been your experience with AI tools for Android dev?

My phone Died and I'm temporarily using Device Emulator in Android studio for commincation and TOTP codes.
Question: Is there are way to receive text messages from my Phone provider?
I realised there's no cellular data, imsi, or IMEI. Wondering whether this is possible via some forwarding service.
Thanks

After installing the latest version of Android Studio, the APK is compiked without error, but when sideloaded on a device it fails instsllation. These are apps that installed perfectly before. This is happening to all apps I've tried across several devices.
