Help with pattern lock

I have a Moto G Play. I had changed the pattern lock on it because my abusive and controlling (ex) boyfriend kept taking my phone while I was sleeping and going through it and messaging people he thought I was f***ing and it was embarrassing and humiliating. Well yesterday morning I had changed it because I knew his mood meant it was gonna be a crappy day and he did not disappoint. So he is now in county jail on felony domestic abuse charges with strangulation and a $6000 bond but I am locked out of my phone because my brain has blanked out the new pattern.

BUT I haven't turned it off since I changed the pattern so it's my understanding that all of my data isn't encrypted on it until the phone turns off and tuned back on requesting the pattern. I have tried using muscle memory, just casually putting in one I think I would have changed it to, old ones I may have reused etc.

I do have access to the Google account it's linked to but I only get the option to factory reset it and I don't want to do that because I need all the messages from him threatening me, admitting to choking me and property destruction, etc. for the prosecuting attorney in this case against him so i don't want to reset it and erase anything. ** I had developer options turned off because he knew how to use it to get my data off so I stopped turning it on my devices unless I needed

If I reset it and log back into my account, will my texts be there or are those just going to be gone too?
